🌕 Lunar Melody 🌕

🌕 A pop-culture spell to strengthen your psychic abilities (such as clairaudience, claircognizance, etc), inspired by Fatal Frame IV 🌕

A Lunar Melody is someone's unique tone, tied to their identity and gifts, their very soul. This Lunar Melody can change pitch according to the person's emotional state and general health. We all hear it unconsciously, and not being able to hear your own Lunar Melody (according to the games) can cause a foggy mind, partial or complete memory loss, dizziness, headaches, emotional distress, among other things. It is also said that people with stronger lunar melodies have a stronger connection to the spiritual realms, the Afterlife, and are often mediums. According to lore, Lunar Eclipses are times when the veil between worlds are thinner and in the games, the Lunar Melodies of people are more receptive, for good or for bad, during this time. So let's try to use that in our favor! Doing this following exercise at a time when the veil is thinner will help you identify what gifts you have but maybe didn't know about, and strengthen the psychic abilities that you already know of. Kind of like stretching a muscle that's been atrophied, with the Moon's help.

⚠️ An older version of this spell was posted by me a long time ago and now seems to be lost. I'm posting this new (and somewhat improved) version as someone asked for it, and it may be of use to others aswell.

🌕 You'll need:

A lunar eclipse, ha. If it wasn't obvious by the title and inspiration, you'll be performing this ritual under a lunar eclipse. Partial or total, your choice, but I think it's safer to do it for the first time under a partial eclipse.

A consecrated mask. Preferably of some organic material (thick paper or wood). Paint it entirely with black ink/paint, that has been previously mixed with a drop of your blood. If you don't feel comfortable working with blood, saliva can work as a substitute (as a personal concern of yours, a tie to you) or even better, tears, as they relate to your sight. After you've painted it, let it dry outside under a Full Moon, asking for the Moon's blessing.

Five white candles.

A bowl of water (preferably a dark bowl, or some scrying bowl)

Music player and a song of choice.

A notebook and pen to take notes.

🌕 Steps:

🌕 First you'll have to define your workspace. I recommend that you create a circular sacred space with a radius of at least 60-70 cm around you. You can use a rope to mark the circle or not, that's up to you. Then set up your five candles on this circle, forming a five-pointed star. Open sacred space as you normally would (if you call on the elements, deities, etc, this would be the time to do that)

🌕 Set before you, inside the circle, the scrying bowl. Best if you can see the Moon's reflection on the water (doing this outside is best but not necessary). Call on the Moon God/Goddess of your choice, and ask them to bless the water and guide your sight.

🌕 Using your music player, play the song you've chosen to meditate with. You can use the Moonsong from the games (said to calm people's soul) or some other that resonates with you (see what I did there?). When you do, first say "Spirits of Song, of chimes, drums, flute, piano and string, lend me your guidance tonight".

🌕 Then, the meditation. Or the frenzy. Put on the mask. You can choose to stay still or dance. If you stay seated, gaze into the water, and try to make out shapes, pay attention to any sounds, emotions, smell, word or image that comes to your mind. Write them down when you're done. If you dance, offer your dance to the Moon and let it guide your steps. Placing the bowl on the center of the circle, dance around it and pay attention to the sensations of it, without judgement. What do you see in your mind's eye? pay attention to what you hear, smell, feel. Don't overthink it in the moment, just let it move through you and only care to remember it for later, so you can write it all down, and you can analize it all you want after it's over.

🌕 After you've written down your notes, you can close your sacred space as you normally would, give thanks to the Spirits you've called to aid you, and even leave a small offering out for the Moon afterwards if you wish.

♊Inner Butterfly♊

♊ A spell for connecting to your subconscious, and unleash your inner power, based on Fatal Frame 2. ♊

♊Part 1 of 2 twin rituals♊

♊  You’ll need: 

-Two identical white candles.

-Four red candles.

-Red cord or string.

-Salt. I would recommend himalayan pink salt, but regular salt is fine too!

-Power Butterfly sigil to carve on the candles or burn one copy with each candle flame, keeping the ashes below or around the candles. The butterfly resembles the mark of the game, it represents power coming from within (rays coming from the center), in a controlled and strong manner (hence the rays of energy resembling antennas and a crown), and power over both positive and negative energies, and everything in between (empty and filled dots).

-Crimson Butterfly oil: Use Olive oil as carrier oil. Get some red rose petals and dry them out. Once they’re dry, crush them with mortar and pestle until they’re a red powder. Then, mix it with a little quantity of rosemary oil, just a few drops is enough. You can also add a personal oil you like, to connect it to yourself. I use jasmine! [make sure the oil you’re using is safe to put on your skin]

-Two personal items: one that represents your outer self, something everyone can easily identify you with, and something only you identify with yourself. The first, may be something related to your craft, what you share with others, your hobbies, etc, but the second one has to be something extremely personal to you (a photo, a necklace) something that feels deeply yours, to connect your conscious mind with your subconscious mind.

♊ Start by placing all your items in your cleansed working surface. Place the two white candles one besides the other, with the four red candles forming a square around them. Use the salt to connect the candles and form a square or a circle. Light up the four red candles.

♊ The white candle to your left represents your conscious mind, while the one on your right represents the subconscious mind. Carve the butterflies on each candle, first on the one on your left, then on the one to the right. If you’re going to burn them, you can already light up both candles, always respecting the order right-left. (Remember to put the ashes of the burnt sigils around or below the candles!!!) Put your personal items in front of each corresponding candle, and let them charge them, connecting the candles to your energies. 

♊ While concentrating on unblocking your inner power, anoint both white candles with the Crimson Butterfly oil you prepared earlier, and then tie them with the red cord, making a solid bridge between your conscious mind, and your inner power. Using your finger and the Crimson Butterfly oil, make a small butterfly in your neck, like a small “X” shape.

♊ Breath, meditate as long as you can, try to feel the power building inside of you. Feel “both of you“, the outer shell, and the inner power. You should be able to train yourself now, learn to control your own newly discovered energy.

♊ When you feel ready, blow the right candle, then the left one, then the four “stabilizing“ red candles, as you feel fitting.

🌹The Immortal Flower🌹

🌹A Spell for Healing, physically or emotionally, based on Fatal Frame V🌹

🌹 An Immortal Flower was a Shrine Maiden, that after taking away the sorrow and pain of others, was put in a reliquary filled with Black Water, to take that pain with her to the other side🌹

🌹Gather a waterproof container, if it’s square or rectangular, better, but a jar it’s ok too, a fresh or dried flower (use correspondences for what type of healing you want, I recommend white roses, and dried ones dissolve faster), vinegar (to dissolve, and it will eventually darken the water) and sacred water (purified and blessed). 

🌹 You can add extra ingredients to make the spell more personal to you, like mint for exorcism of bad luck, and bringing good luck in exchange, black pepper for banishing and protecting your future, and garlic to make the spell work faster.

🌹The flower represents your pain, what you want to get rid of in order to heal (physically or emotionally), the water mixed with vinegar will slowly dissolve the flower, taking away your sorrows, and the container is based on the reliquary of the original game, to hold it all together and bind negativity to the inside.

🌹 I recommend playing a song that makes you feel better in the background while doing this spell.

🌹 Fill the container with water and vinegar, approx. use 20% vinegar, 80% water. You don’t want this to be a curse, so water must be the dominant/stronger element here.

🌹 Concentrate your feelings in the flower, direct your pain and/or sadness to it. Let your emotions flow completely, don’t limitate yourself. Cry if you feel the need to. Strong emotions are a big part of this spell, and letting your emotions find a way out will make you feel better too.

🌹After that’s done, take away the petals of the flower, and let them fall through the water, to the bottom of your container. Don’t worry if they float at first, they’ll eventually sink, after some days. Seal the jar and put something around it or above it that you correspond with healing. You can write a Healing sigil at the top of the jar, hang a string with blue beads around it, or anything that you associate with healing.

🌹Now, just leave the spell jar do It’s job, and put it somewhere you can see it, to remind you that this shall too pass.

[Remember that this is in no way a substitute to medicine. Always accompany your spells with actions. Do what you need to heal emotionally, see a doctor and take your meds to heal physically.]

⭕❌Amend Fate Spell❌⭕

❌Fate is the way. The way is the natural order of the Universe, the state to which we naturally feel attracted to, consciously or not❌

❌This spell is meant for those who have troubles finding their way, to reconnect someone with their true life path and fate again.❌

❌ You’ll need:

🔥 Three red, purple or white candles.

🎀 A long piece of ribbon, cord or thread, I personally like waxed cotton thread!

⭕ Bracelet pattern (can be as simple as knots, or as complicated as crochet, choose whatever feels better for you)

❌Examples of easy beaded and knot bracelets!

❌Examples of crochet/macrame bracelets!

🌟 Decorations such as little charms or beads.

🙌 Optional: Imagery or items related to a Deity of your pantheon that rules over Fate, such as the Norns, the Moirai, Fortuna, etc, and an extra candle and offerings for them to help you too! Invoke them before commencing the ritual.

❌Ritual:

Set up the 3 candles in a straight line in front of you, one in the middle, one to your left, one to your right.

Light them up, from left to right if you’re in the NH, from right to left if you’re in the SH. As you do so, invoke your ancestors to come through the first candle, invoke your Deities, inner power, the universe, etc, to represent your present in the middle candle, and then invoke the future in the last one, it can be in the name of those to come, your descendants, etc.

Then, pick up the thread/cord, and slowly and carefully tie it to the first candle. Then connect it to the middle candle, tie it, and do so for the last one too. As you tie each knot, recite:

“From the past, as I have known

the present and future I’m being shown,

the neverending thread of fate

it can entangle, it can change state,

but I* shall never be afraid

for I* will always have a gate

to find my path and be led the right way.”

Then, simply take your remaining items and make that bracelet! When you start, recite the same chant. When you’re done, say it again. I personally recommend binding it to the person It’s meant for (you or else) with any bodily fluids (like saliva or blood), hair or simply charms and color correspondences, whatever you’re comfortable with and have in hand.

Once you’ve finished this, thank each candle and what they represent, give the corresponding offerings if you can, and keep the bracelet/charm with the person at all times!

⭕❌ A longer and a lot more specific version of this ritual was channeled to me by my ancestors when I asked for help in a certain situation, so use with caution and respect! I hope this less brujería-specific version is useful for anyone who may want to try it out in times of need!❌⭕

🌑✖Tattooed Priestess✖🌑

✖A pop culture spell for uncrossing, be it a certain area of you life or a spell, getting rid of evil or stuck energy, or simply banishing, based on Fatal Frame 3✖

✖You’ll need: 

-A poppet pattern (can be as complex or simple as you wish, I’m going to use the one below, which is really simple, you can use it too!).

-Fabric or thick paper (use color correspondences, I recommend either a really dark blue, for uncrossing, or white, for purification).

-Something to fill the poppet with. Prepare a mixture of herbs and grains that correspond with what is stopping you from achieving your goal, or what you want to banish. Make sure is enough to give your poppet a good body! 

-Something to write with. If you’re using a dark color for the poppet, consider writing on it with wet chalk or liquid paper. If it’s a light color, then regular markers should work just fine! 

-Two white candles and four red candles.

✖ Start by tracing the poppet’s pattern in your fabric, or in the paper you’ve chosen. You should end up with two sides of the poppet, and then stick them together or sew them! Leave a nice opening somewhere to fill the poppet. 

✖ Place the two white candles on your working surface, one at each side of the poppet, and light them up, counterclockwise (for the northern hemisphere), clockwise (for the southern hemisphere). Then, fill the poppet with your mix, and close the opening shut. During this process, concentrate on capturing all negative energy that may be causing you problems inside the poppet. Once you’re done, blow out those two candles, as you’re blowing away any remaining negativity you may have attracted to that area in the process.

✖ Place the four red candles around the poppet, one at each limb, and light them up, clockwise (for the NH) or counterclockwise (for the SH). Start writing on both sides of the poppet what you want to accomplish, what you want to transmutate that negative energy into. Also, specify how you want to uncross this issue, and in what period of time it will work. The poppet should end up completely covered in your positive thoughts. Then, carefully blow out the candles.

✖ At the end, you can chant a little recitation for uncrossing or banishing, and attracting positive energy, then simply store the poppet until your problem is solved!

✖ If time runs out, and it didn’t work out, or it didn’t work in the way you wanted it to, dismantle the poppet, but keep it’s parts. Re-do the whole process, and use the remainings of the first doll as part of the filling of the new one. It should empower further the doll, and help specify your terms.

Rootworking tip

Outsiders like to believe hoodoo is as simple as it can get. Just throwing easy-to-find ingredients into a jar and praying over it. But there’s so much they’re missing.

Rootwork was born from our black peoples’ necessity, used for our ancestors survival, it was used and continues to be used as a tool for empowering those in the absolute worst situations of life, and using things that are simple to find even for those in need, but that doesn’t make the work itself any “easier”. The complexity and beauty in rootworking stems from knowing when and how to work your magic, what kind of trick is best to use, what ingredients and prayers to add, in which quantities (and using what sacred numbers to invoke what intention and spirits), how those ingredients interact with each other and how that affects the spell, for how long to work it, or even where to leave the remnants when you’re done, how to pay the spirits, and a long, long etc.

The ingredients may seem easy to find, but even how we acquire those ingredients has a meaning, and a use for us. Many times, it’s not just working the jar, but also working the oils that were used in the jar, and the blessing of each ingredient separately before making a whole, etc. It isn’t just our intention, our ancestors, our ashé that fuels our magic. Every step in the process is well-thought and planned, ritualized, strengthening our work even further. 

In hoodoo, the little details matter, the many layers of work matter, so pay attention to them!

Likewise, it's curanderismo, not curandera/o. A curandera, curandero, or even curandere, is a practitioner. The practice or tradition is called curanderismo.

🌊🌀Sinking or Sea Grounding🌀🌊

🌀 Sinking is a type of “grounding”, which is the act of separating any excess energy from your own vital energy, and releasing it to the environment around you, often with it being absorbed by the Earth, or in this particular case, by the Sea. Think of it like a thunderstorm. You’re creating a difference in potential between your vital energy, and all the excess energy that may be stuck on you, or that may be remnant from spellcasting, etc. The Earth, and the Sea, naturally have a tendency to absorb energy, so once you make that difference, it will get out of you naturally, so it may as well be used by other living beings, and continue the cycle.🌀

🌀 First, you’ll need to be on the water, not fully submerged if you don’t want to, but the water has to be at least up to your hips (where your root energy center is located, thus facilitating the energy exchange). I recommend sitting in a comfortable position, as it can take a few minutes. Specially if you haven’t done this for a while, it’s always recommended to take it slowly and carefully.

🌀 When you get on the water, you can feel either energy draining, or energy getting inside your own energy circuit. Both are normal, but which one you’ll experience depends on your energy levels. It’s like putting a glass on the water, if the water (energy) level is lower, water will get inside, if it is higher, you may feel drained, due to the Ocean’s innate hability to neutralize/take away unneeded energy. Either way, make sure you first stabilize that energy level before proceeding with your sinking.

🌀 Once energy is flowing normally again, and the energy levels are balanced, concentrate on your own vital energy, localize your energy centers, and differentiate energy that is vital for you, from any excess that is out of place. Now “raise“ or keep flowing your own energy, but drag anything else to the bottom, to the lowest energy center in your body, and let it out. Syncronize with the flow of the waves, and let them wash away all unneeded energy. Do it slowly, and make sure to take out only what you don’t need, or it may make you feel dizzy, tired or hungry.

🌀 Once you’re done, you simply “seal” or affix your own energy to yourself, and close the circuit so unwanted energy doesn’t get inside again as soon as you leave the water. After that, you’re ready to do as you please~

🌀 Tip: You can get or make yourself “anchor beads”. These are like prayer beads, but instead of a tassel it has some sort of “grounding“ or in this case, “sinking“ associated item on them. The beads are connected to you, and your own energies, but the anchor makes excess energy get “heavier” than your own energy, and helps getting it our of your system. Many people chant prayers while grounding so this can come in handy!

🌊Sea Magic and The Tides🌊

🌊 Flow/ Flux: Phase of incoming water. Good for growth, luck, new beginnings. Can be paired with Crescent Moon for better results.

🌊 High Tide: When water reaches its highest level, every 12 hs. Gives extra power, strength, for notorious results. Can be paired with Full Moon for better results.

🌊 Ebb/ Reflux: Phase of outgoing water. Good for banishing, destroying, cleansing. Can be paired with the Waning Moon for better results.

🌊 Low Tide: When water reaches its lowest level. Good for psychic powers, meditation, new ideas and thoughts. Can be paired with New Moon for better results.

💙 Spring and Neap tides 💙

🌊 Neap Tide: This occurs twice a month, in the First and Third quarters of the Moon. The difference between high and low tide is less than usual. This is because the Earth, the Sun and the Moon are in a right angle and the Sun’s gravitational pull counteracts the one from the Moon. This is a good time for relationships, love, bindings and such. 

🌊 Spring Tide: This occurs twice a month too, approximately at Full Moon and New Moon. The difference between high and low tide is bigger than usual, because the Sun and Moon are lined with the earth and their gravitational pulls reinforce each other. During this phenomenon, you can give an extra-boost and extra power to all your spells.

♊Outer Butterfly♊

♊ A spell for using the connection built on the “Inner Butterfly” ritual, and channeling that power to guide you, and aid you on a specific situation, again based on Fatal Frame 2. ♊

♊ Part 2 of 2 twin rituals ♊

♊ You’ll need: 

- Tarot cards, an oracle, or some form of divinatory tool that can answer more than just “yes/no” questions. 

- One red candle.

- Red cord or string (long enough to be tied on your wrist).

♊ In this easy practice, you’ll light up the candle, again, simbolizing your inner power and your subconscious mind. Put the red cord around it, holding each end of the cord with each one of your hands. 

♊ Feel the energy flowing, from the candle, to you, to the candle again, and so on. Fill yourself with that energy, and let it flow through you smoothly. 

♊ Once you feel ready, leave the red candle burning in front of you, take the red cord and tie it on your wrist of your receiving hand (for me, it would be my left wrist, as my right hand is my dominant or “action” hand). If you wanna be even more accurate with the games, and you feel comfortable with it, you can tie it on your neck and make a small ribbon in the shape of a butterfly, like the mark the remaining would have, but of course It’s not necessary, It’s more of a symbolic thing. Ooooor if you still have some Crimson Butterfly oil, make the little butterfly in your neck again. Choose whatever feels right to you, after all, It’s a really personal ritual.

♊ Take your divinatory tool and put your dominant or “action” hand above your tool, charging it too with your inner power, and make a reading with the next questions:

1-General view of your situation.

2-How can this be negative for me?

3-How can this be beneficial for me?

4-What steps should I avoid?

5-What steps should I take?

♊ Take notes on your answers, thank the divinatory tool and place it aside. Then, put the cord around the candle again, tie it gently and blow out the flame. Proceed to interpret your reading!

⛈️Witchy guide to weather magic ⛈️

🌀 Utilizing the different energies around us is a center part of all kinds of witchcraft. Weather witchcraft is what I call a task for an advanced witch. After learning to control energies around you in a small scale, like your own energy field, your home, etc, you can tap into energies that have effect on larger scale, such as the Sun and the seasons, the Moon, it’s phases and the tides, and what we’ll focus on this post: the atmosphere as a whole, and how it’s changes define the weather, the change of energies around us. 

Here i’ll share what I’ve learnt through the years and give you my personal approach based on what I’ve learnt from my family and my own experience🌀

⛈️To understand weather witchcraft, you must first understand the science behind it. As with any path of craft, the first step is research. Weather is defined by the atmosphere, specifically one of it’s layers, the one that’s closest to the ground, called troposphere. This layer contains most of Earth’s water vapor, and it’s where clouds form. It’s also where meteorological change occurs. Before trying to change the weather by ourselves, we must know what makes it change naturally, and after years of practice, there are three things basic things I’ve found have to be taken into consideration when spellcrafting, and these three basics are: the Sun, Air and Water⛈️

☀️The Sun: The Sun, or heat, affects the weather through it’s radiation. Warmer temperatures mean more water evaporation, more likely to form clouds and rain. This also ties to water pressence. But more Sun doesn’t always mean more rain, the amount of water that the Sun can evaporate will define how much precipitation there is in the end, as in polar areas rain is rare too, even if water abounds, as the Sun doesn’t really heat it enough to evaporate enough for rain to be common.

🌊 The Water: Water pressence or lack of it affects the weather greatly. One of the first things my mother taught me was that places with large bodies of water nearby, like lakes or the Ocean, have less broad temperature ranges. This means, temperature changes less drastically: if it’s 20°C at mid-day, it’s not gonna be -5°C at night, it’s probably going to be ~10°C. Water, due to it’s chemical properties, absorves a lot of heat, thus absorves the Sun’s radiation easily and prevents the temperature from rising. In desert areas or places with really low humidity, temperature ranges are much broader, for example, 40°C during the day to -10°C at night, since there’s no water to soften the Sun’s effects.

🌪️ The Air: Differences in pressure and temperature cause masses of air to move, as wind. From places with high pressure and temperature, called anticyclones, to places with low temperature and low pressure, cyclones. Research what winds affect your area, where they form and what characteristics (humidity, temperature, etc) they have. Create correspondences for them based on their unique characteristics!

⛈️ General advice ⛈️

⛈️ Research, seriously read as much as you can about geography, the characteristics of the place you’re living in and how the factors mentioned above affect it’s climate.

⛈️ Make correspondences that work for you and make sense to you, corresponding to your area’s geography, the winds affecting it, your usual weather, keep track of it, also make correspondences for the Sun and Moon and Water or Ocean, deities you work with in your craft, their offerings and altar settings, you can include maps and drawings in your grimoire!

⛈️ For temperatures, you can call into Sun deities in your work, or use fire and Sun symbolism, like candles or burning sigils/offerings.

⛈️ If water is lacking in your area, consider calling onto water or ocean deities in your craft, spirits of any nearby rivers or spirits/deities associated to the nearest water source to you.

⛈️ Different winds with different characteristics will also form different fronts when interacting with eachother, research what these are and how they form, call into winds you need to form these fronts and you can even make sigils for that specific wind combination and the front it causes!

⛈️ Ways of weather working ⛈️

⛈️ Cloud/wind reading: also one of the first things my mother taught me, as different winds have different temperatures and humidity, they form specific types of clouds. Just by looking at the sky, their shapes and how many there are or not, or by feeling the wind, where it comes from, how cold or dry it is, you can tell which winds are affecting you at the moment, if there’s just one or more, and how many possibilities you have of rain or a storm forming. For example, I live in the argentinean northern patagonia, which means I’m affected by 4 different types of main winds. If I see clouds like nimbostratus, I know we’re having a wind called sudestada, and we may have storms and even a spring tide due to it’s effects.

⛈️ Make charms: you can make all sorts of easy charms for weather magic. The classic work is the 9 knot spell, but there’s much easier stuff like windchimes to alert of energy changes.

⛈️ Herbs, roots, spices, grains, sand: all of these have different uses in weather magic! Here’s some of my correspondences for water witchcraft, stay tuned to my blog for a future post on what herbs and spices to use specifically for weather workings!

⛈️ Sound: whistling, by yourself or using whistles, are one way to call on wind. If you have any tie to merfolk or know you have weather singing abilities, you can sing too (be aware, not all merfolk like humans singing, can cause with fae troubles too and you may want to avoid this), another good idea is chants or prayers. Making sounds similar to rain falling with instruments like what’s here called a palo de lluvia or small bells also work very well.

💐Spiritual Colognes💐

💐 In many african american, afrolatine, latine and even indigenous curanderismo traditions, different colognes, parfums and waters have earned their name as spiritual colognes, used for different purposes in craft. This is a personal list of them, their uses, and some basic recipes and guidelines to make your own! 💐

💐 Florida Water: Produced by Lanman & Kemp-Barclay, based on citrus and flowers, this is by far the most well known and most versatile. Think of it as the “clear quartz” or “white candle” of spiritual colognes. Some of it’s most common uses include cleansing, limpiezas espirituales, offering for spirits and ancestors, spiritual protection. In my experience, it has a soft but constant energy to pull money and blessings forth, and drive away evil. For crafting your own, I recommend to use mostly citrics’ peels (orange, lemon, tangerine, etc), many flowers (mostly rose, could also be jasmine, carnations, white, orange and yellow flowers) and add a few herbs and spices, like hyssop, mint, rosemary, clove, oregano, basil, and essential oils like rose, lavender, bergamot, etc. When making it, the energy should feel cleansing, heavenly, harmonious and kind.

💐 Kananga Water: Also by Lanman & Kemp-Barclay, this one relies mostly on “kananga”, ylang ylang, although also contains citrus and herbal scents. It’s uses vary from practitioner to practitioner, but most agree that it shares it’s cleansing and purifying properties with florida water. The ylang ylang adds harmony, balance and makes even better offerings. In my experience, this formula has a stronger scent, that attracts good spirits, and repels negativity with more strength than agua florida. For this one, you’ll use more spices and obviously, a lot of ylang ylang essential oil. Also use citrics’ peels, red roses and other red flowers, and stuff like sandalwood oil, cedarwood oil, rosemary, ginger root, clove, mint, peppercorns, cinnamon, etc. Make it’s energy feel spicy and strong, fiery.

💐 Hoyt’s Cologne: the Lucky cologne, or Heart’s cologne, used mostly to feed spirits, also given protection, luck in gambling, luck drawing and money drawing properties. I highly recommend to combine this cologne with black cat oil, as they share many properties and uses. For this recipe, I recommend mostly lemon peel, add lemongrass or lemon balm, rosemary, oregano, essential oils like bergamot, sandalwood, camphor oil or resin, frankincense oil or resin, patchouli oil. Make it feel playful, tricky and lucky.

💐 Kolonia 1800: Created by a cuban company, Crusellas and co, as versatile as florida water, it comes with different variations. The most common has tobacco, used as an offering and to call forth spirits. Sandalwood adds protection, and conects different planes of spirit, communication with the Divine and divination. Lavender works well for psychic work, divination, offerings, cleansing and healing. Vetiver is specially good for luck and money drawing, as well as court cases. Can also be used in reversing workings. Make it feel cleansing, protecting and dominant.

💐 Lotion Pompeia: By L.T. Piver, this recipe combines Patchouli and rose mostly. Can add other flowers like white and red carnations. Some spices like cinnamon, red peppercorns, and rosemary. Used to purify oneself, connect to one’s inner divine, guides, ancestors and to attract love, luck and success, Calming, healing and moving on too. Make it feel romantic, lovely, dreamy but not soft.

💐Many more exist, like Orange Blossom cologne, for vibrant sun energies, gain power, dominance, love and luck, Palo santo cologne, for cleansing, exorcism, money and luck, can also be offered for the ancestors, Rose cologne or Agua de Rosas, to enhance one’s love life, family and relationships, Bay Rum cologne for offerings, health and luck, divination and connection to the Divine, Ruda cologne, for cleansing, purification, exorcism, moving on and bringing in the new, calling on wealth and blessings, etc. Explore with what you have in mind and what you grew around of!💐 

💐Tip #1: Different traditions will have different uses for them, so don’t take this word for word, explore within your own tradition or religion. 

💐 Tip #2: Ruda cologne, Palo Santo cologne, and the peruvian formulas of Florida Water and Kananga Water are mostly used within south american curanderismo, while the New York formula of Florida Water and Kananga Water are more common in caribbean and north american curanderismo, also used along with Hoyt’s cologne and others of this list in hoodoo, rootwork and ATRs, etc, so you don’t have to use all of these. Traditionally, different cultures use different colognes for different uses.

💐 Tip #3: Finally, this list and these uses for colognes are coming from my background in curanderismo and rootwork, so please, if you aren’t an indigenous or black person, don’t appropiate these uses and recipes!

⚔️Charm to ward off illness and promote health⚔️

⚔️ Inspired by this post, (with further details and pics here), and thanks to the fact that just yesterday the first local cases of COVID-19 have appeared in the small town I live in, I decided to create for myself a little catholic folk magic-style charm to protect myself and mine, and keep our good health during this pandemic. ⚔️

Firstly, three outer layers of prayers. These can be printed (as the original) or hand written and decorated if that’s your thing (and your level of commitment, may use consecrated ink, more personalized imagery+symbolism, etc). The three symbolize the Holy Trinitarian Principle and each prayer represents one layer of it.

Secondly, two or four images of Saints/Celestials to call upon. Two works better to me for simplicity purposes, I work more closely with the Duality Principle so I used two, while Four could invoke, for example, protection through the four seasons, from the four directions and The Four Archangels, Two better represented to me what I wanted to achieve. Choose whichever numerology is more significant per your tradition. 

Thirdly: the contents. The nature of what goes inside will change based on what you want to keep away or attract. I’ve considered COVID-19 an illness of mostly Earth nature (although respiratory, it spreads in dry+cold environments where air flow is limited), supported by Water (thrives in colder climates), so I will be including contents that counteract it, through Air (empowering the respiratory and immune system) supported by Fire (Sunlight and heat are said to weaken the virus). The main element of the contents should then be Air-aligned, and small additions of Fire-aligned supportive elements would be added aswell. The numerology in each element added + all together, should reflect these aspects aswell.

I’m also using sigils inside, such as one I made specifically to direct the energies, and included some latin incantations like “CONTRARIA CONTRARIIS CURANTUR”, the opposite cures it’s opposite, “PER AER/IGNE SPIRITUS VINI RECTIFICATUS”, through Air and Fire the Spirit comes rectified, “AER ET IGNE, NATURA RENOVATUR INTEGRA” per air and fire, nature is restored anew, aswell as “RESTITUTIO ET PROTEGO BONUM SALUTEM AD INTEGRUM”, restore and protect good health in it’s integrity. (I don’t know much latin so take these with a grain of salt, it’s just what works for me lol)

Craft an incantation that fits your intent or choose passages from the Bible (I’ve chosen psalm 91), and at chosen date and hours (to me, done on a wednesday in the hour of the Sun), work your way through consecrating and activating it and It’s ready to go!

If you wish, you can add more or less layers. In mine, everything folded was put within a leather pocket thingy with a cord to carry it around with me more easily. Think practically.

Lastly, this is NOT meant to replace other care measures, on the contrary, it is meant to strengthen them and support them. Wear your mask. Sanitize your environments. Keep distance.

⛓To Shut the Gates spell⛓

⛓This is a pop culture spell made to protect a space, like a room or a house, against ill-intent, malevolent spirits and negative energies, by shutting those away, based on the original Fatal Frame game ⛓

⛓ You’ll need: aluminum foil, cotton rope, a mirror, poppets (made of cloth, cardboard, or even pieces of rope too) and many different sacred waters (rainwater, saltwater, mars water, moon water, water infused with crystals or herbs and flowers, like rose water, etc)

⛓ Steps:

Take the aluminum foil and make a fake mirror. This “fake mirror” is to be placed in the space you want to protect, specifically in a zone that is prone to gathering most negative energy or stuck energy, like a dark, cold spot of the room or house, and left there to absorve that negativity for 7 days. 

After the seven days have passed, you’ll take your poppets and infuse each with a different type of sacred water. You can make as many of these as you want, but it has to be more than one, and infused with different types of sacred liquid. You’ll use the charged “fake mirror” and your infused poppets to divine: 

Throw the poppets all at once on top of the fake mirror as it is lying on a flat surface. The ones that fall closer to the center tell you what the nature of the negative energy lying around is, and the ones most far away from the center are the ones best used to get rid of it (opposites reject each other and stuff). We’ll call the one most close to the center the “weaker water” and the one most far away from the mirror’s center, the “stronger water”. 

After divining, keep the “fake mirror”, placing it again in that same spot you first left it, and take note of what the weaker and stronger waters are for future use. You can also take note of what kind of negativity you’re dealing with, based on the correspondences of the waters and their placement!

Now you’ll take your “True Mirror”, yes, the actual mirror, and anoint it with the Stronger water from before. Do the same for the cotton rope. On a full moon night, anoint the entrance to the space you want to protect with the weaker water, as well as the “fake mirror”. Open your space, call on your deities, elements, directions, or what you work with in your practice, and ritually tear apart the fake mirror, casting away negativity. Then take the anointed rope, and tie it to the entrance’s doorknob or above the door, and then place the blessed mirror facing directly to the entrance, as you do so, recite:

This is my space, I have no fear

Shall evil come, I won’t shed a single tear,

any and all malevolence is forever casted away

protecting this space, only good and blessings can stay

and to those who wish to put harm my way

this sacred mirror reflects it, and thou are it’s prey.

⛓ Tip: If you’re a closeted witch, you can add things like charms to the mirror and rope to make it seem decorative (and use correspondences too!)
