Since the late 80's the US has been subjected to a repressive regime of capitalism, where you either have or you die, and since the early 2000's they have suffered under a police state that gets power from the excuse of "homeland" security, weakening the participation of the majority of people in the government. Added to the monopolies on social networks and information flow you have people very used to not thinking on their own and the consequence is the Dumb Orange. So for me it is a different path to a similar end. But i'm no expert, so maybe i'm just wrong.

Like, i knew the angry orange was a dictator as bad as the one i suffered. Same delusions, same speech, same target demographic. Heck, he even had a lame weak president (and really old) that enabled him. It is like north and south wanted to converge.

The only difference is that coffee shop leftists will swear to god that the southern one was beneficial while this is bad, because ideology makes you a better person. But autocrats just step on ideology to prop themselves up.

I for some reason i'm of the perfect age to enjoy it today even if i could have found it on 2008, but it show how in 2008 i had so many other concerns that this stroke of genius had to wait.

And the stupid game makes me teary eyed with... every... single... story.

Thing is they didn't have to. In the Simulanka region they didn't have to make a very secret place with callouts to all the previous limited regions. It is not necessary... but it is so nice. For me it shows that they (at least the designers and programmers and the people that actually do the work) care and love the place as much as i love it after all this time.

And while the story is winding down i keep thinking how deep down it is about the Hexenzirkel making a thing to keep the memory of their very mortal friend last, and showing that they are not a cabal of hyper powerful witches but just a group of friends that... well... do questionable things from time to time.

THESIS: the real reason that people stay on this hellsite is not “chronological order” or “the drama” or whatever (per se), but is instead linked to how tumblr, unlike most social media, is not optimised to give content as short of a half-life as possible, but instead is optimised to let content continue to cycle for months, years, even decades. this has in turn led to a more consistent centralised site “culture” in which there is more coherent linkage among different areas of the site, thus also explaining why its content permeates so thoroughly throughout the internet.
