i think what makes that panel of toji and maki side by side so powerful is the fact that the basement maki was thrown into was most likely the exact same one toji was thrown into as a punishment, where he had to fend off all those curses without any cursed energy (also probably how he got the scar on his mouth) and it just shows how both of them screamed a massive ‘fuck you’ to the zen’in clan because they rose up to the challenge despite that. i’m p sure mai created toji’s sword as well if you compare it side by side. i love how the generations are just learning to spook the elders and are destroying the zen’in clan from the ground up. as they should, thank you for your patronage my queens (and former king)
