The main problem with making sweeping statements about What Christians Believe is that most people don't know that they're heretics. I have folks in my own family who profess to be Romanian Orthodox but also believe in karma and the cycle of reincarnation. They're 100% convinced that this is scripturally supported.

I think it’s important to be able to recognize the different between our emotional response, our moral response, and what we believe should be our legal response.

For example, emotionally, I genuinely think less of someone who buys into stupid conspiracies about organ donation. I think that morally, if you are unwilling (unwilling, not medically unable) to donate organs, you should not be an organ candidate. I don’t think you should be able to say ‘If I’m dead I want all of my organs to rot, even if they could save lives. But I also want to benefit from other people’s sacrifice.’ Fuck you.

But I do not believe it would be ethical (or practical) to legislate that. I think it would be a horrible ethical violation and medical coercion. I recognize that, even as I’m disgusted by people who would let someone die when saving lives would cost them nothing.

Legal codes and ethical guidelines shouldn’t be based around our feelings.

it is also just interesting to me how the spectre of fetishism quite often dissects the body into discrete fetish and non-fetish zones of desire for people. if you're having plain old "vanilla" (constructed category in its own right but let's not get into that) sex with a lover and you're halfway decent at it you most likely touch quite a few parts on them which you've never consciously fixated on or thought to key into a porn search query -- but the awareness of, and drive to denounce & perform revulsion towards, foot fetishism has left quite a few people with this dread around the foot and any even incidental contact with or acknowledgement of it within a sexual context. frankly those who perform this kind of disgust have a far more established fetishistic model of an sexual complex around the foot, or rather its absence, than like anyone i know who just unabashedly jerks off to foot stuff

why are so many people just boldly anti-sex. like oh god forbid somebody be sexually interested in peanut butter or something. we need to call the police immediately. this is about vague 'no fetish art' art fight stuff bc..... anything and everything is a fetish. first of all. and also like i think its fine as long as both people are adults and are like. clear about it. like no trickery or whatever. and its also about seeing people acting like something being fetish content is immoral inherently. like yes time and place and it can be insensitive/creepy, but its not inherently Wrong.
