ORACLESHE
Her master’s presence lingering in the back of her mind was a constant reminder of the necessity in avoiding failure. Hardly a weighty challenge, traipsing about royalty was as familiar to her as the back of her own hand, and this queen… Mara was beginning to believe that she might not even have anything to hide at all.
Hardly a chance she was about to rely on guesswork for. Still she listened, she watched, she relayed her observations, and she waited. Should the kind demeanor house treasonous motives, she could be sure within time. But for now…
The handmaiden offered a warm smile, guiding her companion to sit as her eyes flickered from the ships dotting the skies above to the greenery below instead. “One could say. I’m sure I’ll grow into it the longer I’m here.” As to how long that would be, who was to say. Least of all her. “But I’m fond of it thus far, there’s a beauty to the palace I hadn’t expected.”
the palace was as familiar to her as any lifelong home was to anyone. she could scarcely remember a time in her life where she didn’t call this place home, the queen’s fondest memories were of chasing imaginations within the hallways and the very gardens they rested within today.
she had witnessed it in all it’s wonder and glory; when naboo was at it’s strongest and most respected. she didn’t expect to be alive to witness it’s steady downfall as they zoned in their focus on bloodshed and war rather than preserving what little peace could be found in this cursed galaxy.
‘ i regret that you were not here to see it at it’s most beautiful, ’ she let slip but a GLIMPSE of her true feelings of the imperial occupation, eyes never leaving the star destroyers before they inevitably returned to her loyal handmaiden. ‘ is this your first time in theed? how did my team of councilors come across you for the role? ’

it was events such as these where she was relieved that the queens of naboo were not known for their polite smiles but instead their intelligence and fierceness. there was no one in attendance tonight that she could trust, no one but her loyal handmaidens which stood guard despite the festivities around them. eyes locked onto every individual that approached her with deadly precision, even if they were there to offer simple pleasantries; and even if they seemed harmless, such as this officer before them. ‘ naboo is yours, ’ she gave a single nod, generally disinterested in speaking with anyone that bore the insignia of the first order. but he seemed harmless, was her rationality. ‘ i have seen you shadow the general before. has he let you off his LEASH just for the night? ’

LIBERTYDESTINED
padmé was not oblivious, but nor was she arrogant. politics was something that had come to mind with the years that she had moved among the shadows for her own protection, there had never been a safe or sane time for the galaxy at large to know that she was alive, that her death had been a great con. many of her allies had died in the great purge around order sixty - six, even political allies who had dared to be a part of the delegation of 2,000. hearing of alderaan & the organas had come close to breaking her. she was not entirely convinced that the place for her was to be in the direct spotlight.
“you’ll have to be direct if that’s what you wish, my queen.” padmé signed back after a contemplative motive. she had not wanted to go to the senate the first time around, accepted what her queen had asked her to do. could she do it again? maybe. her reputation would be a shaky thing until she established herself again. many would call her a coward when others like mon had never run. but there was a reason that her life had been so much more dangerous, one that she was not sure she could ever share with the galaxy.
where did her heart lie… where it had always lied, she did not have to stop & think about the answer. “i believe in democracy & the republic. it served naboo well for hundreds of years before its fall. but only if the republic can learn from its mistakes, stop squabbling over money & focus on helping those who need it most.”
and so the stories her mother would tell her of their lost queen were true. it was a lost cause to ask her what it was that she wanted when self-seeking hopes and desires were not something that would immediately cross her mind. if arsinoé were to ask her to remain at her side, she would stay. if the queen were to ask her to fight for the ultimate seat of the republic, she would bring forth a sense of honor to naboo the likes in which they had never had before. and should the queen ask her to leave and never return, padmé would do so WITHOUT QUESTION no matter the ache in her chest the command would bring her. an undying loyalty unlike any other.
but it would be unfair of her to ask anything of padmé simply because it painted a pretty picture for naboo when she did not know it’s real outcome or the possible danger she would be putting her in. it was clear that the queen was slightly taken aback despite her best efforts to maintain a neutral disposition. hands paused to fold over her abdomen; the jewels and beads of headdress swaying and clinking softly before stilling as she looked out a nearby window.
‘ it’s far too early to send you off to war now, ’ she joked aloud, peeling her eyes away from the outside world after a contemplative silence. ‘ we can discuss our future in the senate with the others once you are settled, ’ she continues in sign. ‘ i don’t want to overwhelm, but if it is any comfort, naboo WILL hold a presence within the new republic. and we will be democracy’s strongest defenders. ’

ORACLESHE
The Hand nodded, features schooled into a sympathetic expression of understanding even if her eyes spoke of a colder indifference. Mara, no, Svari felt little reason to mourn for the felled monarch; hopefully this queen’s allegiance to the empire was unwavering if only to avoid a similar fate.
If not, handling such matters was her specialty. But what a shame it would be.
“Of course, participating in stuffy meetings all day- I can hardly blame you.” Even she was hardly opposed to going outside. “I imagine it must get tiring.”
that hardly the case, she bit back the want to correct the handmaiden. constant endless meetings were a given with the crown. it was the contents of these talks that seemed to be more stressful than she could have ever anticipated as a child.
no one could have ever anticipated the end of times and the end of the jedi. no one could have ever anticipated the fall of the republic and the rise of an empire.
‘ right, ’ she said instead, almost a bit dismissively however unintentional it was. star destroyers lining their horizons was the disturbing scenery that greeted them as they stepped out in the palace’s courtyard. ‘ i hope you settled into your role without any trouble. these are confusing times after all. ’

ONLYHOPED
Upon entering the majestic halls, the Jedi collected himself; taking a moment to admire the beauty the halls had to offer. He was thought to be prepared for the political encounter; one of unquestionable rigidity as it always seemed to be with the politicians of Naboo. As he approaches the queen, hands free, he signs a respectful greeting, “ It is an honour to make your acquaintance, Queen Arsinoé.” The Jedi Master surreptitiously glances between the queen and her hand maiden, unsure which of the two was the queen in question. His hands were clumsy, but he hoped it wasn’t too apparent that he had picked up the skill merely a week earlier.
“ Representative Binks? ” Obi-Wans composure was interrupted by the statement. Even as the discomfort ripples through his words, he considers the emotion unreasonably placed. This is Naboo, of course the queen will have a close relationship with the gungan politician. The clumsy being was .. easy to forget about. That was the danger of him. “ Oh, yes,” he scurries to rebalance himself, clearing his throat. Masterfully, the negotiator bypasses the original question with a tightlipped smile. “ Representative Binks is quite an.. unhackneyed addition to the Senate. He and Senator Amidala have done some incredible work for the Republic. I would like to add that Senator Amidala has told me much of you, and your own impressive leadership skills.
“ Will Representative Binks,” Obi-Wan begins uncertainly, scanning the corridor passively, “ be joining us today? ”
stoic and regal was her royal highness, as the monarch should be. cold and emotionless outsiders may call her when she leaves symphony behind at her door to don the FACE OF THE NABOO. she was no longer just a single individual when donning the scar of remembrance, but instead MANY. it was an ancient practice that was at first difficult to grow acclimated to the weeks following her victory in the elections as she was helplessly expressive by nature. but a second nature was born and soon after it was just as easy as breathing. hearing aids often helped with her monotones that queens were often known for. but even with so much effort that was put into keeping up appearances, there was the occasional surprise that was enough to crack the expressionless visage.
the queen and her most trusted handmaiden traded silent glances at the jedi’s signing. it shouldn’t have been at all surprising as she heard that the jedi were talented in a wide variety of areas. perhaps more talented in some areas than others, as was apparent by slow and hesitant hand movements. despite having to be reluctantly corrected by kaisa a few times, it was still a display that she appreciated.
‘ no, unfortunately jar jar is attending some important talks with boss lyonie just outside of theed, ’ a smile miraculously broke through however small it was, too distracted by her initial surprise to note the worry in his stance. ‘ i’ll be sure to remember to send for him if you wish to say hello. i know he’ll be most happy to see you. ’

LIBERTYDESTINED
despite the fact that naboo had been quite profitable & secure for many years prior to the empire’s rule, its politics had even been a bit unstable in her time. with one term rulers & the isolationist stance that some had taken, it had been a balancing act. padmé would not be surprised if the same were not true again for the next decade or two. with such extreme positions being taken by many, anyone who tried to function in a more moderate position would struggle greatly & receive backlash. it had not been safe to speak out against the politics for so long, there were undoubtedly pent - up feelings about such a thing. queen arsinoe was now destined to receive the brunt of them.
“idealism is important,” padmé started cautiously. it had been something about herself that she had valued during her political days although it was never a matter that was black & white. “but not at the cost of reality. yes, you’re right, naboo certainly would have been capable of an independent stance in the past, but we benefitted from our relationship with the republic, as many other planets did from our participation.” but that was not something that the queen needed to look at. she was to focus on her planet & leave such matters for a senator. “excuse my bluntness, but unless the chommell sector comes together, it seems very unlikely that the economy will recover without the help of the republic.” if it did not, it would only cause more suffering.
padmé nodded her head in understanding, breathing out through her nose. no, then speaking out of against palpatine or the chancellor had been wildly unpopular. she was lucky that she had gotten away with it. it had never been without consequence, there had been so many attempts on her life & she had no way of knowing how many he had been related to. probably all. “if you do, you’ll have to be extremely cautious about the representation that you select.” her gaze dropped to the queen’s hands as they wrung for a moment. while signing, it had mostly gone between her own hands to check herself & the queen’s eyes. “i’m sure that they will. the sins of the old republic will not be easy to forgive.”
it was a decision that was more difficult than it needed to be, a decision that she imagines many great leaders of the galaxy were not taking lightly; a predicament that was most likely not all that unique to naboo. that thought, at the very least, was enough to ease her mind. she would need to remember to reach out to the other worlds for guidance, not just her advisory board whom held their own biases and beliefs. wisdom needed to be sought elsewhere in order to better learn and grow. her people were a wise but proud people that were not allowed to see things past the short term for quite some time now. perhaps padmé would be able to help in that department.
a contemplative silence fell between the two women as she weighed her options. there was no rush to come to any sort of conclusion yet, but the queen often found it difficult not to fret over things that were still far off into the future. she found comfort knowing how things would play out and making necessary decisions ahead of time in order to quell unnecessary feelings of anxiety her mind seemed to stir.
she stilled, blinked—returning back to the land of the present—before turning her attention back to the former senator. there was a barely there smirk playing at the scar of remembrance as she debated asking such a question. ‘ are the days of fighting with the other senators behind you, amidala? ’ a suggestion hidden behind a tease. there was no greater honor than having her sit within her advisory board, a powerful voice to be had amongst a mix of diverse thoughts and ideas. her words would carry the weight of worlds and it would truly be a loss should she refuse the position. but should naboo rejoin the republic... would it truly hurt to nominate her again if that was what she truly wanted? it would be dangerous but she doubts it would be JUST AS TURBULANT as when the clone wars raged on. ‘ if they are not retiring the position, i don’t doubt many are also setting their sights on the seat of the chancellor. where does your heart lie? ’

ECSILE
whisked away by the queen, her scarred hands fall easy within the other’s. symphony’s fingertips felt as brisk as a first step into naboo’s waters, and her palms were as soft as tidreen always expected. if killspree hadn’t known better, heaven could be mistaken for this moment, melting into the woman’s hands. thin, dark brows relax, and the wrinkles of cosmic weariness seem to unfold before symphony’s very eyes. all the exile feels is the welcoming soul of her queen, the gentle and innocent presence that only reached for her. neon eyes blink from a stare and tidreen only grins underneath her blush. she could only imagine how symphony would look in this gown.
attention is called with her voice, and the exile’s eyebrows lift quickly. a small chuckle tumbles from her lips, which are tied back in a grin. ❝ OF COURSE. ❞ the counters were not cluttered, but well stocked. something bubbles inside of her, and the former general mistakes it for nerves. her back sits straighter, her eyes avoiding contact. ( if they meet gazes, she might fall apart. ) she doesn’t sit too comfortably with this feeling, this fragility in a room reminding her of bliss. ❝ GROWING UP, THE WAR WOULD ALLOW ME TO TRAVEL ALL AROUND THE GALAXY. I PURCHASED – I WOULD HAVE TO SAY – TWO PRODUCTS FROM MY SHORT STAY ON ONDERON. ❞ she smiles, reminiscing to a time in a better head space. it makes the conversation easier, doesn’t trap her words within her stomach. and it comes out easily from her. more and more, tidreen realized her own degree of comfort, and how much it made her forget about war. ❝ EACH ONE HAD A FLORAL SCENT. ❞ the memory alone is enough to carve her smile from her stone mask, softening her features and calming the beast within.
‘ a whopping two products? that’s quite bold of you, killspree, ’ she teased the rebel, shooting her an amused smirk as busied herself by assembling everything she would need. normally her handmaidens would be the one to dress and decorate the queen’s face for the upcoming day as it was a time intensive task, but it wasn’t odd for symphony to sometimes paint her own face, usually when she awoke earlier than her handmaidens did or simply to speed things along when one of them seemed off or busy. unfortunately the queen couldn’t go a full week without having to sit through this sometimes arduous part of her morning routine. two products seemed like a dream come true for someone who was caked in heavy layers of make up for the sake of upholding ANCIENT TRADITION. she never took for granted the days where her skin was allowed to breathe and bask in naboo’s warm sun.
it dawned on her that she would need to become intimately acquainted with tidreen’s skin and facial features. the woman normally TOWERED over her like any good bodyguard should, but now she was reduced to symphony’s own earthly height seated in the stool before her. she could already note some lines, scars, wrinkles she wasn’t able to note otherwise; imperfections she couldn’t help but find endearingly perfect to her. ‘ you’ve unintentionally made it a mission for me to introduce you to all sorts of products, but for now i’m asking you to trust me and the process, ’ she returned her full attention to tid with some clear primer on her finger tips. ‘ i promise my hands are clean, ’ she promised in an accidental whisper before slowly reaching up to apply a thin layer of the primer on her skin. symphony did not rush herself as she notably let her fingertips linger on the warmth her face seemed to offer her. underneath her eyes, forehead, cheeks, the bridge of her nose. ‘ i don’t know what onderon offers, but i doubt it’s nothing like this, ’ she spoke, but only to hopefully distract tidreen from noticing just how studious her eyes have become.

@naboocrowned liked for a one-liner!!
One queen assassinated, another risen soon after. Palpatine had been clear with his orders for this one, to keep an eye on her to ensure that her loyalty to the Empire was unbroken.
A handmaiden: such an easy disguise, with an even easier role to play.
“Where to next, my lady?”
adjusting to this new life of hers whilst in MOURNING couldn’t have been too far off from a cruel, silent torture. oh little apailana, her chest threatened to collapse into her frail little heart at the thought of her fallen sister, i do this for you, you will not be forgotten.
‘ the gardens, ’ arsinoé stood from her seat on the throne after calling a meeting amongst the advisors adjourned. ‘ some fresh air will do me some good. ’
