Laptops are always so much more Fucked than phones in my experience. A laptop is like a beautiful horse that wants nothing more than to break all of its legs. A decently solid android phone will act normal
#my many laptops and phones were always soldiers#but I had a tablet once and it died from a ten centimeter drop with no falls beforehand#on the other hand some of my laptops survived a LOT#I had a tiny one when I was a kid that regularly outperformed my dad's bigger and newer laptop. which was supposed to be better#and you can imagine what a life it had belonging to a 11-year-old#the next one lasted faithfully through games it had no business handling. it even needed to get the expanding battery removed#its still alive with my cousin. with two black spots on the screen. and a weird pink effect that leaves only the taskbar unreadable#which goes away after ten minutes#my latest one survived even higher performance games with 8 gb RAM. and juiced being spilled on it like five times#it's currently being repaired because the motherboard gave up five months after the last juice spill#while that's happening I'm using my mom's. because she doesn't usually#we can't close this one because one of the hinges violently tried to rip apart the cover of the upper half once we open it again#besides falls. one of my phones survived being dunked on water no diff no consequences (it is not waterproof)#and another was used for so long the battery went spherical#...and I'm playing Genshin Impact on my latest one. which is so not capable of running it that the damage doesn't even show up on screen#edit: it wasn't mine but my younger half-sister got a tablet when she was four and it lasted half a year before she...drop kicked it???#I'm still now sure how she did that. the screen was obliterated. I had a WIP digital drawing in there I never got around to redoing too#edit 2: I went looking through the reblogs and your laptops are WIMPS

i've picked up on the fact that nobody reads these anymore so i'll try and keep it short. for more info, you can read more about her situation here & here.
my friend reema @reemagaza has been campaigning since march, that's almost 9 months. only now is she losing hope and feeling like she can't ask for our help anymore. her sister has just received surgery and is in great pain, her family has lost everything due to the genocide. these remaining funds are needed to support them.

#once we had so many mangos we turned them into juice and filled six two litter bottles#in a family of 5 (plus guests) I drank THREE by myself#there was a mango that only looked a little impressive and then nearly filled one of the bottles completely

i'm curious, because while i certainly have genres i favor, i genuinely don't think there are any genres i dislike - every genre i can name at least a couple titles i've enjoyed.
#mystery but it's because I usually read stuff that is still updating#and most drag on for so long that rereading to get a grasp on the clues is a challenge by itself

The cost of living in an active warzone is, unsurprisingly, pretty high.
It costs several thousand to cross over to Egypt, for instance, and that's when the crossing is even open. Basic survival in the meantime is expensive.
A family with three kids, one suffering from hypothyroidism, trying to get out? £14000. Getting medical treatment? £2000. It's expensive! Even providing food and medicine, basic necessities while working on getting out in the long term, is expensive.
But it's completely possible with good crowdfunding.
Lubna Albjrami is raising funds, firstly to help with daily expenses, and secondly to help her family get to Egypt and get healthcare for her son. The family is currently unable to afford food and medicine due to price gouging and a lack of income due to the war in Gaza. You can read her story here, and donate here.
It's completely possible to help, materially, to improve the situation of Lubna and her family. Crowdfunding is how we can show, collectively, that we stand with the people of Gaza by helping the victims of the war, directly.
Her campaign is vetted as #191 on the @gazavetters list, and the donation link is here.

My favorite sci-fi thing I've ever thought of is something I'd like to call Humans Are Space Ants. Basically, humans enter the larger universe and find that all other intelligent life are practically gods. The thing is, though, humanity's exploitation of physics has gotten so out of hand that they are on equal footing.
Important to remember, the aliens are far, far beyond us. Their understanding of the universe is much deeper, their power is far greater, but we just fuck around with existence harder than any other being has the lack of sense to. And it has had extremely potent results.
Although humanity's standing up to a civilization of a billion literal Cthulus, they're winning. They will eventually codify eldritch knowledge in a way they can understand.
Imagine if ants developed music partly on accident by just doing math about it. You would be so confused as to how they even did that. But they did. And then the next time you go out into your yard you hear the objective single best piece of music you have ever heard, and it's about the ants asking you to stop poisoning their nests before they teleport into your brain and kill you. And they figured out how to teleport using the music. Somehow. Even ignoring the fact they can teleport with music, how could they have composed the greatest song to ever be? they don't even fullly get it!
Basically, eldritch gods watching humanity's bullshit with confounded outrage. I should probably write about this at some point, it seems pretty damn funny/cool

the funniest and most tragic moment in steven universe is the scene that implies that Pearl pulls bitches like a professional dog walker but doesn't know how phones work so her place on earth is being a life-changing futch fling for every dyke on the east coast there's probably a gay bar in maryland where they talk about the twiggy bird chick that eats milf pussy like it's the last edible thing on earth and they dont even know about the city full of thousand year old neon lesbian amazons who are pent up 24/7 from The War and leaving room for jesus cause they're always hanging out with their softboy nephew who might be the second coming of christ
