how do i explain to you that you changed my life?

that you feel like the warmth of sunshine coming out of hiding after it’s been raining all day? and your hugs feel like crawling into freshly washed sheets after a long shower? or that your laugh sounds like an old song from my childhood that fills me with sweet nostalgia? that for the first time in my life i feel safe, and loved, and valued? i feel protected while sleeping next to you, rather than being afraid of the dark. i feel calm instead of suffering through the worries of everyday life. i feel comfortable being myself around you, rather than being ostracized for my quirks. i feel appreciated for my heart, instead of being taken advantage of. i feel secure, knowing you’ll wake up everyday and pick me for the rest of our lives, rather than worrying about if and when you’re going to leave. i finally feel the love i’ve always longed for: the kind of love i’ve begged to receive from others, the kind of love i always saw in movies as a child, the kind of love i always feel between my parents, the kind of love that everyone envies, and the kind of love i believed i didn’t deserve. i feel it when we’re dancing together at a concert, or when we’re playing video games together, or when we’re both sitting in bed eating pasta. i feel it every single second of every single day and i want to feel it for the rest of eternity. the sun rises and the moon glows seemingly for us. the seasons change and while the leaves may fall, the flowers still bloom inside our hearts. my days are brighter and my nights are sweeter, all because of you. how do i explain to you that you changed my life?
