Collage series Tijelo by Gloria Perović
New series of collage works titled “Tijelo” about the female body. My aim is to put the female body in a context where it is being seem primarily as a human body. I miss the lense through which my body used to be viewed as a child: as just a body. I took pictures of my body which are supposed to be far from sexualized some even “uglified”, but to further emphasize the neutrality in the images they are paired with photographs that in some way resemble or recall each other, but take the body into a completely different context. I hoped that by putting it in this context it would further desexualize a body that is in most cases primarily seen as a body on display, to be viewed, and sexualized, and only secondarily seen as just a human body with functions to fulfill.

`Nothing is free from ideology, and everything we do has a political charge. I asked myself how not to be a passive object of this ideological system, how to act and react. What is my relationship to power, domination and exploitation?`
