Is the things we lost in the fire pmv still something new people on the ordem fandom watch? I remember it being seen as a canon event to watch right after finishing OSNF, but it's been some years since I last saw someone commenting about it..

I can’t stop thinking about crocodiles for some reason so here’s some cool pictures I found of probably the second largest one in captivity, his name is Utan:
isn’t he beautiful
listen to the SOUND when he bites
youtube
and that’s not even a real power bite, that’s mostly just heavy bone falling on heavy bone from his jaws and the air rushing out from between them

UNMASKING THE BLUEBOTTLE REVEALING FOUR DISTINCT SPECIES THROUGH GLOBAL CITIZEN SCIENCE
For over two centuries, the Portuguese man o’ war (Physalia spp) was considered a single, cosmopolitan species, drifting across the world’s oceans and stinging unsuspecting swimmers. But new genomic research has overturned this long-held view, revealing that Physalia is not one species, but at least four: P. physalis, P. megalista, P. utriculus, and a newly described species, P. minuta. Researchers sequenced the genomes of 151 specimens from around the globe and found strong reproductive isolation between genetic lineages, even when their distributions overlap. This evidence aligns with historical descriptions from the 18th and 19th centuries, which proposed several species that were later dismissed due to limited data.
Crucially, the study integrated over 4,000 photographs from iNaturalist, using citizen science to match distinct morphologies with genetic lineages. These images, contributed by amateur naturalists, swimmers, and lifeguards, allowed researchers to confirm physical differences that earlier taxonomists could not consistently observe due to preservation challenges. The result is a rare success story in which modern genomics, historical records, and participatory science come together to clarify the taxonomy of one of the ocean’s most recognisable creatures.
The discovery not only rewrites the story of Physalia but also challenges assumptions about biodiversity in the open ocean, reminding us that even the most visible marine life can hold hidden complexity, and that everyone, from sailors of the past to today’s citizen scientists, has a role to play in uncovering it.

TIL the reason you don’t find much Lyme’s Disease in California is not because we don’t have Ticks, or Lyme Disease Vectors; but rather: because the Western Fence Lizard (if you live anywhere in California this is your regular Garden Variety Lizard) has adapted a passive immune response that makes their blood lethal to Lyme Disease Bacteria. Any Tick that feeds on one gets its gut cleansed of Lyme Disease as a side effect.
Fucking neat.

thinking about these enigma do medo dlc teasers again................................................
we already know the general size of the area is going to be similar to the spiral castle (per the newsletter). it probably has the word "secret" in the name. the new area is going to be more complex than the base game, and the dlc itself has a new main mechanic. based on the steam dev update, i imagine it will follow the same format as the base game's areas (one big puzzle + a few mini ones). we also know that it's inspired in osnf (assuming the old crowdfunding goals are still accurate)
i'm just trying to figure out what we're looking at in the photo. like, it's obviously some sort of strach construction given that it's in the perimeter in the first place. idk who it would be for though, some older version of the strach mansion? somebody else pointed out that the statues are similar to the ones in the mausoleum, so i wonder if it'll have something to do with it. maybe there will be a key or some sorts in amy's box? also, since (Almost) every area seems to be associated with an element, i think the dlcs are going to go the spinoff route and start combining elements. this one probably looks like death/energy, given the spiral markings on the walls and the similarities to the cemetery. also that door on the right is asymmetrical

Thinking about Knuckles’ trouble adjusting from warrioring to being a family son with two younger brothers. His anxiety around now protecting someone else, combined with his inability to sleep on a comfortable soft bed leads to him sleeping under people’s beds to both ‘protect’ and be comfortable in his own way.

in the movies,Sonic takes his sweet time naming the feelings he has. He clearly loves Maddie and Tom as parents, but he only calls Tom dad at the end of the second movie.Or Tails and Knuckles,it's like he can't acknowledge that he can depend on them until the end of the third movie.
And these all tie back to Longclaw.
When he first started to acknowledge her as his mom, gifting her a flower as a form of open display of affection, he led echidnas to her,and she died. When he describes her in the first movie,he says she was his mentor. He doesn't name her as his mother, when she clearly was. He subconsciously deemed that the trouble won't leave him alone, and if he closes the distance between the peole he loves, and names them beyond a friend, they get taken from him. Only when they prove that they won't leave him alone does he start to acknowledge the special feelings he has towards them.
He called Tom dad, after Maddie and Tom refused to leave him alone to die. He called Tails and Knuckles his best friends, hugged them, and acknkwledged they are a team, only after Knuckles and Tails saved him despite him leaving them behind. They all didn't leave him alone like he expected to be.

So, you know how certain Christian missionaries are trained to act in a very obnoxious way, so that most people they preach to will reject them outright, so they feel like the world hates them for being Christian and they can only be friends with fellow Christians? You know that thing?
I think as activists, we sometimes need to stop and ask ourselves whether we're acting like those missionaries. I think this type of behavior is a little more ingrained into our society than some of us realize, and some of us have internalized it without realizing what it's actually meant to do.
