me when writers block...
I'm still working on this!! Project still alive and well, I'm just in some nasty writers block. Although expect some art soon! That'll absolutely be coming because my art motivation has been high recently :3
progress is overall well, I know where the chapter is going and I have the introduction of the two characters done, but a lot of the meat of the chapter is not at all made.
If you want, send some asks about these goobers and the au itself! Maybe that'll help break me out of this slump.

Finally, after so long, here's the character introduction for Pix! Sorry this took so long, but I'm finally out of my little writing slump.
Pix is a cheery monster who sees the best in everyone. She thinks of everyone she meets as her friend, which can become a thorn in the side of a certain other monster within this storyline. Despite this, they're not unwise and overly trusting. Pix knows if someone's using them relatively quickly.
Pix, being a Pixolotl, is much more of an interesting monster. Given most of the Wublins are created by the Wubbox, as well as the rest of their lore, makes Pix a lot more biologically different than the rest of her friends.
She ends up fitting in with most of the band relatively quickly, although it does take time for Flootsy to finally warm up to her fully. Even with other, non band, monsters, Pix gets along with them swimmingly. Going out of her way to make them feel welcome to anything she does.
All of this to also add, Pix struggles with who she is. She's a Wublin, but does she know that? Does she know what a Wublin is? Why does she look like she is? She has a lot of questions about herself where no one has answers.
thank you for your patience with this, for real. Hopefully I can get back on track with writing chapter 2 and we can all meet our next characters and setting. I'm glad that most of you have stuck with me this far! So sincerely, thank you :3

I promise I'll make the next character introduction I just have some writers block right now. For now, I'll reveal a small snippet about the next chapter! The next chapter mostly takes place within Fire Haven, and mostly between two characters, those being Aria/Flootsy and Pix. It'll give a good view into these two, who are mainly at the forefront of the 2nd storyline.

Heya there! It's time for the next character introduction! Tonight's introduction is for Aria the Floogull.
Aria is seen as having a rough and rugged exterior. She doesn't like having many monsters get close to her. Those that she is close to, though, she's fiercely loyal to. She has a small and tight knit friend group that has lovingly given her the nickname "Flootsy".
Flootsy is most notably the most different of any monster within this series. She's missing an eye and a solid portion of her trumpet. She also has a leather jacket that she proudly wears.
The biggest concern might be "Duck, isn't a Floogull's trumpet it's nose?" well, yes, but in this au it's not entirely life or death. It's like losing a limb. She can still smell, but her sense of smell is greatly weakened. I also am saying that underneath their snout is a mouth so that eating isn't an issue.
Sorry for a small tangent. But as I was saying. Flootsy is missing a solid few things. She is also pretty heavily scarred. Although the reason why will get explained.
While she treats many monsters with basic respect, she isn't very kindhearted or trusting like some other monsters are. She's very self isolating.

Chapter 1, Out in the Snow
Hello hello! Chapter 1 is here! so here it is! I hope you enjoy it :3

Click the Read More to see it!
The snow of Cold Town fell gently as the clocks in town began to chime twelve. Within the center square of the town, a small bakery sat, smoke billowing out of a chimney above. The scent of freshly baked cookies wafting through the square.
Inside of the bakery, the baker was a blue furred monster. She was pulling some of those aforementioned cookies out of an oven. She placed them on the counter before taking all four oven mitts off her hands.
As the cookies were set to cool down, the blue furred monster began to climb the old wooden stairs within the bakery. These stairs led to a more house-like upstairs. While it still had that rustic feel, it was cozy and warm. The house part felt very inhabited.
She continued towards one of the rooms and slowly opened the door. The room was a bathroom. Her main focus was the mirror. The blue furred monster looked into the mirror with a tired expression. After taking a deep breath, she ran the sink and cleaned her face off. As she rubbed a towel over her now wet face and horns, a knocking could be heard from downstairs.
It was far too early for any customers to come in. That was what first crossed her mind as she hurried back down the rickety old stairs. A now forming annoyance began bubbling up in her mind. She most likely knew who this was. If Chell was right, she would not be rushing down. Her pace slowed to a near halt.
Making it downstairs, the blue furred monster looked through the glass door and rolled her eyes. On the other side sat a lighter coloured monster. This monster sat on a wheelchair that looked more like a throne made of ice. A dark grey speaker sat on its tall forehead. The monster knocked again on the glass door, a smug grin curling on its face.
The darker blue monster opened the door. "What do you need today?" She asked, in her nicest possible voice that was sickeningly fake.
"Ah, Chellby, Chell, sweetheart," The lighter furred monster began, his voice booming, "I have a question for you, my hot cup of cocoa."
Chell was clearly unimpressed by his flirting with her. "Aphex, I told you, you can ask when we're open," She crossed her arms as she spoke, her tone now growing very annoyed, "You can't just parade your power as top-boss like this."
Aphex laughed, "No, no, this isn't about me asking you on a date again," He replied nonchalantly, "I'm here to ask you about the kid."
Now this was something she wasn't prepared for. Chell gave Aphex an intrigued look, "What about him?" Her tone became a little threatening. She wasn't about to let this guy do anything to her son.
Aphex looked around anxiously, "Eh, heh, where is he anyways? I figured he should be here to hear this too."
Chell was having none of this, "He's out making deliveries. What do you want?"
Aphex let out a hearty laugh, trying to lighten the mood, "Early morning deliveries? You have that kid working too hard."
"He likes that time to themself." Chell kept her eyes locked onto Aphex's, not amused by him.
Aphex looked around again. He seemed to be missing someone. Chell knew this too. He would usually have two body guards by his side. While they were typically Mammots, they would range in monster species. He was completely unguarded. This raised some red flags in this whole interaction for her. Why come alone? What did he want with her son?
Speaking of. The similarly coloured monster was still on his morning run. The bakery cart attached to his lower half as he trotted along the snow. It was peaceful for him as he made his way up a snow-covered gravel path. The gravel dug into his yellow paws, but they tried not to let that get to them.
The blue monster grabbed a box out of the cart and placed it by the door of a small cabin. They knocked gently on the door and began backing out of the path. Unfortunately, the door immediately swung open and they were stopped by the resident inside.
"Ah, Bifrons! Finally!" the monster inside bellowed.
"Good morning, Gaston…" Fron replied awkwardly, still attempting to back away.
The monster in the doorway was avian in appearance, with permanent icicles dangling from its beak. A scarf was wrapped around his neck as well.
"Fron, my dear, have you seen anything about these mysterious footprints in the snow that have been appearing recently?" Gaston continued.
Fron perked up a little, now intrigued by this gossip Gaston was giving to him. "What do you mean?"
Gaston nodded thoughtfully, "Recently a lot of monsters have been seeing these footprints appearing. No one knows who the belong to. Some are saying they belong to an epic variant, but I have my doubts."
Fron tilted their head, "What do you mean?"
Gaston shrugged, "The prints are round and have one large claw in the center, about this big-" He made a shape with his clawed wings, "Some are saying its a hatchling, but I doubt it. No hatchling survives out in this weather."
"I mean, all of us have," Fron disputed. He was still trying to back out of the pathway, back to the main road of the town, but by this point, Gaston was beginning to follow him, "What's so different about this one?"
"No one knows who's hatchling it is." Gaston chattered for a second after speaking, "just keep an eye out, I hear its stealing food too." With that, he turned around and headed back home.
"Will do, thank you, sir, have a nice day." Fron waved Gaston farewell and continued on his trek.
Fron decided not to put much thought into that gossip. It was probably some unwatched hatchling playing a prank on the town. Fron pulled out a paper list out of the cart and crossed out the monster's name and species. Gaston, Pango.
He scanned the list for any uncrossed name. Unfortunately, none of them were uncrossed. He was done with deliveries. Taking a deep breath, Fron furled the list up and put it back into the cart and began to make his way towards the town center.
He looked around before setting off. Only then did he notice some footprints in the snow. Maybe Gaston wasn't lying about those footprints. Fron unhitched the cart from their back and moved to investigate. The prints looked to be fresh. He could probably catch up if he wanted to. Fron knew he could go fast if he wanted to.
The long furred monster looked over his cart next. It seemed a spare cookie had been taken. It was no bother to him, of course. His mother always packed extra for any hatchlings who wanted one. Maybe they could ask her if she could make some extras for this one?
Fron shrugged before reclipping the cart to his back. He set off towards the town square once more, but not before looking back once again. They figured if they looked back maybe they could catch some glimpse of this mystery child, but that was to no avail. They shook their head and continued moving.
Town square wasn't too far. They arrived in a matter of a few minutes. Following the scent of the fresh baked cookies on the counter. Fron trotted towards the back of the small bakery. He had to put the cart away. That's where it usually went.
The back room was mostly reserved for the cart. It had a garage door that Fron usually entered and left. It was big enough that it required such a large door. It was probably big enough to fit a few monsters in it if cleared of all the boxes of baked goods. Fron laughed at the thought as they got themself unclipped from the cart.
Fron re-entered the main part of the bakery. Where they found his mother and the Cold Town Top Boss waiting. His expression changed from a pleasant smile to a frown. Had he done something wrong?
Aphex was the first to say anything from this interaction. "Ah, Bifrons, there you are. Good boy."
Chell immediately snapped, "Just get to it already!"
Aphex flinched before solemnly nodding, "Of course. I was, uh, recently told that given Fron's status as a, uhm, Mythical Element Monster, he must be taken in and stay a few days at a facility within the Earth City," The Deedge sounded as though he was reading off a script. The words sounded practiced and awkward, "If he is to refuse, I have permission to use force to take him there."
Both Chell and Fron looked between each other… A tense air loomed around the room. That was until Chell broke the seemingly everlasting silence.
"Wh, no! What in the name of Glashurr is wrong with you!? Of course you can't just take him away!" She yelled.
Aphex shook his head, "I'm sorry, Chellby, it's not your decision to make." He pulled out a walkie talkie from the bag sitting on his wheelchair and began speaking into it. "We have permission to use force…" The rest of Aphex's words had become a blur.
Chell grabbed Fron by the shoulders, "We're going to go clear the cart. I hope you can run, sweetie."
Fron silently nodded before the two of them took off. Adrenaline coursed through Fron's veins, he could feel his heartbeat through his entire body. Everything blurred by as he raced through the bakery.
They both reached the cart and began clearing it off. It didn't take too long. Chellby leapt into the luggage part of the cart, and Fron hooked themself up to the front of it. The garage on the back of the bakery flung open and the two were off.
Fron's feet pounded against the snow covered paths as they made their way through the town. He didn't try to pay much mind to the glares of passing by monsters.
He tried to keep his breathing even, just like Chell had taught him when they first made their rounds together. When they had to hike up the larger snowy hills, but it felt like it was to no avail. His lungs were wrapped tight within his chest.
"Sir!" A voice came from a while over, "We have the target spotted."
Fron's steps were soon joined by the rush of various other steps. They spared a moment to look left and right to see he was joined by a pair of monsters on each side. He could recognize them as a Mammot and Dandidoo on each side, the prior riding the ladder as a steed for a boost in speed. He had to outrun them…
The town faded out of view quicker than they thought. The once cheery town faded into a snow coated and darkened forest. The half shoveled path turned into thick snow, making movement a little harder.
He could feel himself get bumped on either side by the pursuers. Each trying to find some way of slowing them down. The pair of monsters on the left side moved in front of Fron in an attempt to get them to stop, but instead, with some surprisingly quick thinking, he managed to turn away and keep going.
This repeated a few more times. Fron twisted and turned at the pursuers moves until reaching the opening of a large ravine. He skidded to a halt, still a few feet away from the pairs of monsters.
"There's no way around it," Chell said defeatedly.
Fron looked around. There had to be a way. He looked towards the ravine and got struck with an idea. Not a good idea, but an idea.
They began to unclip themself from the cart and moved to the side of it. Chell looked on in horror as the centaur-like monster lined themself up. After a deep breath, he charged forward.
Then leapt.
Chell closed her eyes. She couldn't bear to watch. He could die and there was nothing she could do about it.
She felt the cart slam to the ground and sent her tumbling along the snowy ground. She immediately climbed out of the toppled cart and found a horrifying sight. Fron was nowhere to be seen
"Sweetie, are you alright?!" She cried, looking down into the ravine.
Fron was face first in the snow, but still showed signs of life. From her point of view, Chell could see some strange orange monster approaching. It didn't seem hostile, so she decided to focus on a way to save him.
The bowgart quickly stood up and began looking along the ravine. She was interrupted by a small noise.
"Uhm, excuse me."

Hellooo small progress update!
The first chapter is currently around 1,800 words. My goal is maybe 2,500 words for it, but I'm not entirely sure if reaching there could be reasonable yet.
Currently the chapter process is going to start A, B, C but later on there's going to be polls to determine where we go next! This is so there's a feel for every chapter and storyline and so people can see more of what they like :3
Also! What did you guys think of the trailer? I enjoyed it. I'm very excited for when the update comes out!

I re-emerge for another character introduction! My plan for these is to introduce every important character that appears in the first chapter of the fic, then move onto the second storyline's characters that appear, so on and so forth. Anyhow! Today's character is Laika the Arakulele
Laika is a hatchling monster. She's wide-eyed and curious about the world, but also extremely timid to the point of being afraid of her own shadow. Often leading to teasing and being called a Scaredy-Ghazt.
She is often seen struggling with fitting in or belonging. She's found abandoned by Chell and Fron on the outskirts of Cold Town in the first chapter. She doesn't know her biological family, or who she is. While their adoptive family helps, they don't really get far.
She finds more help in these strange dreams she begins having. I won't spoil anything about them but they're more than just dreams ;3
Laika is pretty much the average standard of Arakuleles. Not that she would know that. They lack an instrument of their own kind, instead getting an instrument that belongs to a certain other ethereal later down the road.
Laika uses she/they pronouns
They absolutely adore their adoptive family. Every single one of them. She loves spending time with each and every one of them and over the course of the series slowly starts to see them as the only family she needs.
Laika is part of the first storyline!
Thank you all for reading! Sorry this one took so long... had a busy day. If you have any questions please let me know! My inbox is always open! Chapter 1 is actually at some decent pacing now! I think it should be done relatively soon-ish?

heya! I just edited the pinned to have some un-linked previews of the characters of each storyline. I figured it would be best to keep them not left a secret. Of course, not all of them are revealed there, some characters that are key to the casts won't be getting introductions just yet. Spoilers ofc!
but I'll be doing some writing for a little while longer, feel free to ask me anything about the characters(that isn't too spoiler-y) for a little while!

Heya! So sorry for the delay but here is our second character intro!
Chellby, aka Chell, is one of the most blunt and honest monsters in Cold Town. Her cold exterior matches with the environment she lives in, although on the inside, she's as warm and sweet as the baked goods she makes.
Chell is a mother and a good one at that. Despite Fron being her only biological child, and the one she's raised the longest, she considers almost everyone in the group to be her kid.
She's a single mom who works too hard, who loves her kids and never stops. With gentle hands and the heart of a fighter. She's a survivor/ref
Chell isn't too different from the average Bowgart, but her horns are made of bone instead of the typical cello pieces normal Bowgart horns are. This is more in reference to the costume in game that has the cello made of bone, I just thought it looked cool. Other than that, her fur is typically on the shorter end, and she wears a fluffy scarf.
Personality wise, Chell isn't one to step down from anything. Although she has her fair share of major trust issues that lead into a lot of conflict. She is often extremely selfless and puts her family's needs far before her own. This also leads to her often not taking care of herself very well.
Chell typically has a positive relationship to pretty much everyone in her family but still struggles to trust them in the beginning. She was in a pretty nasty relationship before the series started and has a lot of issues with her romantic feelings that we get to see her struggles with coming to terms with over the course of the series.
Chell is part of the first storyline and also acts as a central protagonist for it.
Thank you for reading this! I hope you like Chell as much as I do. I also hope I described her well as she was a little tricky to get right. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them in my inbox! I will answer them as soon and as best as I can.
Mini update, the chapter is going well! Just about to get out of the intro of the chapter, although I might rewrite it as some of the pacing feels off.

Time for the first of many Character Intro posts while I work on the first chapter! Today's character is Fron the Strombonin
Bifrons or Fron is a bit unusual, given that he wasn't raised by his own kind, but instead by his mother Chell, who is a Bowgart, Fron has become a weak and awkward monster as opposed to the usual elegant and agile monsters that Strombonins usually are.
Fron uses he/they pronouns.
While he is physically much weaker than most of his own kind, Fron is far from thin. Both in mass and his long and often unkempt fur.
In terms of personality, Fron is a complete sweetheart. He sees the best in everyone and holds the entire group together through that kindness. He's a complete and total mama's boy as well. Despite their awkwardness and overall physical weakness, Fron is super easy to get along with.
Over the course of the fic, Fron forms more bonds than probably any other character. Despite starting off as an only child, they quickly become an older brother figure to Laika, a hatchling Arakulele, and he has a general sibling vibe with Alph, a rare Congle. That's just to name a few!
Fron is part of the first storyline introduced and acts as the central protagonist for it.
Thanks for reading! Make sure to stick around for more of these and the fic itself! As well as some art pieces and other small writing pieces as well. Make sure to read the pinned post for more information on this project and feel free to ask any questions in my inbox!
