The opening credits for episodes of Pride & Prejudice 1995 work like a tranquilizer. The piano riff, the sprightly horns, the sweetly singing strings that resolve into harmonious flutes, all while watching exquisite hand embroidery. 25 years of conditioning leaves me instantly soothed.

Thank you so much for liking the 1995 P&P over the 2005 one. It’s very rare to meet anyone like that nowadays. *shakes your hand* You clearly are a being of taste and culture
🤝 Best.Adaptation.Ever.I still get excited every time i watch it!!Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth’s chemistry is unmatched! It's like seeing Jane Austen’s characters brought to life.
enjoy some more doodles of my fave moments, kindred spirit :)

Someone told me Susannah Harker was too ugly to portray Jane. Don’t get me wrong, Rosamund Pike is gorgeous, but I feel like Susannah Harker probably is more how Jane Austen envisioned the character. Susannah literally looks like she stepped out of a Recency painting

Les Liaisons dangereuses: Valmont vs Dangerous Liaisons
This time I’m comparing two adaptations of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ book Les Liaisons dangereuses. This time I have not read the book myself, but I do have semi good grasp of the plot. I am comparing two film adaptations that came out almost the same year, 1988 film Dangerous Liaisons directed by Stephen Frears, and 1989 Valmont directed by Miloš Forman (director of Amadeus).
The book is about two French aristocrats, Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont, playing cruel games on other people. It is definitely not the most cheerful work, but both films were enjoyable in their own way. I also included bonus round of the probably most famous adaptation of the movie in the end of the presentation.

Dangerous Liaisons (1988) - Glenn Close as Marquise de Merteuil wearing an ivory brocade robe à la française, heavily embellished with floral embroideries and pleated ribbon appliques on the skirt and on the bodice.
Madonna wore the same dress for her “Marie Antoinette” performance at the MTV Video Music Awards 1990.
The costumes were designed by James Acheson.

I want to kiss you all so much, but I am afraid that kisses would turn into me throwing my arms around you and all this perfection will be utterly undone!
