December 1st is World AIDS Day

Today is about raising awareness and fighting the stigma of HIV/AIDS. If you’d like to attend an event in your area you kind find information on them at worldaidsday.org.au.

Also: PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis - like PEP but taken beforehand to fight against HIV infection) isn’t currently on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme in Australia and so can cost up to $10,000 per year. If you feel this is unfair you can contact Greg Hunt, Minister for Health, and tell him your thoughts on the subject. Or: David Gillespie, Assistant Minister for health.

And remember: practice safe sex and stay educated. Learn more about HIV/AIDS here.

How you can tell a hipster band from a regular band just by looking at their name

Do you need to Google how to pronounce their name? (e.g. Autre Ne Veut, Toro Y Moi)

Are they named something after something mundane but spelled with a totally unnecessary double-vowel? (e.g. Eraas, Pyyramids, Flaamingos, Traams, Suuns)

Does their name contain diacritic marks, punctuation or some combination of these elements? (e.g. Poliça, !!!, Maxïmo Park)

Do they have a name ending in ‘Club’? (e.g. Bombay Bicycle Club, Tokyo Police Club, Slow Club, Two Door Cinema Club)

Do they have a name ending in 'Nothing’? (e.g. Wild Nothing, Bored Nothing, Cloud Nothings)

Did they name themselves twice? (e.g. Everything Everything, Django Django, Wildcat! Wildcat!)

Is their name spelt entirely in all-caps without any vowels? (e.g. GRMLN, RY X, MS MR, CFCF, STRFKR, MGMT, SBTRKT)

Does their name contain the word 'Bear’? (e.g. Bear In Heaven, Grizzly Bear, Bear’s Den)

Did you hear their name from a hipster?
