not from an economic standpoint. If it didnt work it wouldnt be as popular as it is. To be fair we are top of the food chain, i doubt you’d be saying what you are if cows ruled the earth and you were born to be eaten. 

Dont you eat plants though? Plants are alive too... Or used to be before you grew them and ate them for your own needs. Maybe you should try living on water.

The problem with animal welfare is that it doesn’t matter how “humanely” you treat an animal before you kill them. The end result is still the same. If you really care about animals, consider not supporting their deaths.
