I have an honest question for the american Pitt fans. I know everybody is like omgg this show is so realistic best medical drama ever (and I agree), but do your doctors for real wear long sleeved shirts, watches, rings, armbands and bangles and what-not at the hospital???
Like where I'm from the hospital hygiene person would be beating you with a broomstick if you did that. Doctors/ nurses can't even wear nail polish or anything
Why are the Pitt doctors so bejeweled?? Like did they forget or are american doctors really just dragging their germs from home around everywhere?

abbot is so funny and for what. gets accused by shen and ellis of being old and poaching patients and says "hol up. that's DEFINITELY not me. i don't know who that man is. maybe robby i think that's a fair read tbh but moi??? never." and all in front of hector's crushed pelvis salad. fuck the ER that man should do comedy.

chewing on this essay by helene foley, 'reverse similes and sex roles in the odyssey':
To keep an open place for Odysseys [Penelope] has symbolically stopped change on Ithaca. All the young men of the kingdom woo Penelope; they are thus prevented from maturing into husbands and warriors, potential rivals to Telemachus or Odysseus. [...] Yet in her effort to preserve Ithaca for Odysseus she cannot stop change entirely; thus the maturing of Telemachus creates increasing tensions for Penelope at the opening of the poem.
i like this concept of ithaca as unnaturally frozen in time, and penelope's struggle to maintain that very precarious in-between status quo for years.
mostly i enjoy that perspective of the obvious friction between telemachus and penelope in the odyssey. that process of keeping things unchanged is too delicate to survive telemachus' eventual maturity, and i think penelope understands that once her son starts being perceived as an adult, 1) he'll be in danger, and 2) the status quo will be changed, and so many things will inevitable be set in motion. but like, telemachus can't help but grow older! and of course he chafes at being stuck in a childlike role in his twenties, and in an ambiguous hierarchical position in his own home. the whole situation is stressful and unsatisfying to them both.

I've seen the "Like if Atlas swapped out with a partner." take for Robby and Abbott a couple of times now and while resonant and heartbreaking and so on there's a medical analogy in there guys
What if they're not Atlas and Atlas, but Atlas and Axis instead
Being in turns Atlas holding up the world while being stabilized and revolving around their Axis

The Mafia In Sports
Blows my mind that so many people in the fandom think the mafia being involved in sports is wild and unrealistic. They are and have been for decades. Teams being owned by the mob, gambling rings, rigged games with referees and sometimes the players themselves. The mob is involved is literally everything. Clothing, food industry, construction, airports, newspapers, gambling, trash disposal, labor racketeering.
A minor league hockey team (Danbury Trashers) from 2004-2006 was owned by the mob and the guy let his 17 year old son be the general manager. In 1920s the New York Americans were owned by the mafia. A goalie broke a refs nose in who was in the mafia and he was almost killed for it. The whole huge betting scandal with the referees in the NBA in the early 2000s. And that's just what is public information. I don't know why people think AFTG is so ridiculous for that being the main plot when it's been a thing since sports leagues started

Do we know if Jean actually got a US citizenship when he was shipped off to Evermore?
Because imagine one day Jean gets scouted for the national team, but in fact not the US national team but the French.
Imagine this man, who was forced out of his home as an unwanted child, making a comeback as a fucking star!!

I honestly think one of the Foxes should give Jeremy Allison´s number, like don´t tell me she wouldn´t have a five step guide on how to cut yourself off from your parents who have too much money and too much influence over your life

Kevin and Jean are Orpheus and Eurydice coded, if Orpheus hadn´t turned around to look for Eurydice
Of course Kevin (Orpheus) keeps forging ahead without looking back for Jean, ahead is a place where they both get to be alive and so he leaves
But to Jean it just looks like the guy who took him along for this ride through hell (who told him not to take the easy way out) won´t even look at him; so here he is with a nice view of the back of someone who made it to the surface while he´s still stuck in the dark

I'm choosing to ignore the theory that they are putting up a front, only being business partners with similar goals and knowing way more than it appears
I choose to believe this is what Gerry is like when brought up in a good home
I choose to believe Gertrude Robinson is a good parent

Also very interesting that the Instagram doesn´t have a profile picture since I got the feeling that ink5oul also had major Stranger vibes
Like the woman didn´t remember what ink5oul looked like and she was put in front of a lifestream with an unknown audience
The connection to skin and so on and so forth
Spoilers for The Magnus Protocol, Episodes 1 & 2
Out of curiosity I decided to check if there was a genuine Ink5oul on Instagram, and there is!
Tumblr media
Everything about the bio, how it's newly created, no following, and all that definitely confirms this is part of the arg, which is really cool.
It's especially interesting as there was apparently a casting call for a tattoo artist character, so Ink5oul may return. The "If you're Spoke, you know where to reach me" really reinforces that there's more to her story we've yet to hear, and perhaps some other forces of fear? Spoke sounds like a reference towards something or someone will be introduced to eventually. Very exciting there!
Anyway! The mention of alchemy symbols in the episode and whatnot immediately drew my interest in the symbol at the end of the bio. I looked it up and it is in fact an alchemy symbol.
Tumblr media
The description of salt in alchemy has exact parallels towards the story's themes of body horror and seeking "perfection". The idea of chemically dissolving down something to purify it specifically brought to mind the "if I wanted to clear the canvas, I would have used turpentine" line.
Overall, this story had The Flesh written all over it, and Ink5oul is certainly an avatar of it.
Curious to see how more arg content will play out with the series as it continues. The use of alchemy symbols is definitely interesting, especially since the previous episode mentions graffitied symbols in the Archive ruins. I feel like alchemy will have a fair amount of bearing on the series going forwards, which I'm very excited for!
