Another idea inspired by this: the planet feeds off of positive emotion and needs to be refuled, but the planet's inhabitants are too stressed to provide enough positive emotions to fuel the planet. They ask the paladins for help. Everyone imidiatley looks to Lance. He tries to convince them that he should not be the one to fuel the planet. He uses his homesickness as an excuse, not wanting to tell them of his insecurities. The team still wants him to do it. 'Since he is always laughing and joking and smiling, his homesickness can't be that bad, right?' He pulls away, but they hold his hand down on the orb against his will. Imidiatley, the planet shakes, lights fliker and local animals scatter. The paladins and the planet's inhabitants are confused, the planet isn't fixing itself... it's getting worse! The paladins let go of Lance, and he slides to the ground crying. The paladins (other than Lance) quickly calm each other down and work together to restore some of the planet's health. From there, the planet's inhabitants are hopeful enough to fuel the planet the rest of the way and save it.
When the planet is safe, everyone turns back to Lance, who is still shaking with quiet sobs. Hunk picks Lance up and takes him back to the castle with Pidge and Keith while Allura and Shiro wrap thing up with the planet's inhabitants. Back at the castle, they are all too shoked to say anything to Lance. He excuses himself, and retreats to Blue for comfort while the rest of them slowly realize what just happened. Lance has enough negative emotions to cripple a planet.
Okay, but what if the team went to a planet that thrived off emotions. Like they lived off of them. The stronger the emotion, the stronger they became. Like emotions kept their planet alive, it was the fuel that kept the lights on and the whole planet running, it was like electricity. Now imagine that Allura and the team are forming an alliance with them, and the aliens show them how it works. There’s this little platform with a smoky white orb displayed. They simply explain that all you have to do is press your palm against the orb, and boom. You contribute whatever emotion you’re feeling to the planet.
Now imagine Lance walking up to it, not saying a word, and just barely grazes the orb, and the entire planet just lights up. The lights get too bright to bear, some even exploding, and they can physically hear the hum of the energy in the air. The team looks in awe at the various blues that now light up the planet. One of the Paladins says “Wow Lance, I didn’t know you were /that/ excited about this mission.” Then one of the aliens just had the awed, grave look on their face and all they can say is “These colors do not mean happiness. They represent anguish.”

Unrequited Ch.1
The common room was full of smiles and laughter as the team of humans and Alteans took a moment to relax. They played a number of games, suggested by both species in the castleship. Norwillian Jerkestand was a surprisingly fun game that seemed like a combination of Truth or Dare and The Question Game. One person would be asked a trivia question and given a ridiculous dare. If the person answered correctly or completed the dare, then they would give the asker a personal question they had to answer truthfully. However, if the person answered wrong or failed to complete the dare, then the asker would ask the whole group a personal question they had to answer truthfully.
That is how they got in this situation, with Lance dangling hazardously from a support beam he was dared to climb. He got up to the beam, but he slipped before he could reach the light that was his goal. Hunk and Shiro stood below him, ready to cushion his fall.
“Guys, if I fall, and you’re right below me, there’s no way you could catch me. I'd land on your heads!” After Lance’s surprisingly good point, Shiro and Hunk each took a step back. Now, both of them held their arms out bridal style next to each other. Lance decided that would be good enough, so he let go of the beam he had been holding. He let out an embarrassing squeal as he dropped the short distance into his friends arms, where his breath was knocked out of him. Shiro and Hunk supported Lance perfectly, but Lance landed in their arms the wrong way. His thighs were alright, but it hurt when his sternum impacted with two large arms.
“You good, bro?”/“Are you alright?” Hunk and Shiro asked as they gently set Lance on his feet. He stood for a moment in silence, worrying the others that there might be something wrong, before he spoke up.
“I failed the dare.” Though it was a simple statement, and didn't mean anything bad, Lance spoke as though a great tragedy has occurred. Keith simply scoffed, smirking.
“I told you you couldn't reach the light,” Keith stated.
“Well why don't you try it then?” Lance retorted.
“That's not the way the game works. You have to answer a question now, and so does the rest of the team,” Keith taunted.
“Fine. What is it, then?” Lance pouted.
Everyone waited while Keith paused, realizing he had forgotten to think of a question. He racked his brain for something better than ‘what is your favorite animal’ or ‘what is your best subject in school’. He glanced around the room, trying to find something that would inspire a good question, but there was nothing interesting enough. Suddenly, he saw Lance rub his wrist, and he immediately knew what to ask.
“Who’s your soulmate?” Keith was genuinely interested after he thought of it. Lance is always flirting with random aliens, maybe his was platonic or something. Lance had paused, but Coran cut in before Lance had a chance to answer.
“On the fact of soulmates, I had been wondering how those work for humans. I wasn't even sure if you had them,” Coran mentioned. “Would one of you mind explaining human soulmates to Allura and I?” His eyes scanned the crowd.
“Soulmates are complex things. Almost everyone on Earth has a soulmate,” Pidge spoke up with an in-depth description of Human soulmates, likely found on her computer. “They’re marked by a name written on the inside of your right wrist. The most common type of soulmate is a romantic bond, it means that they are destined to be together and love each other. The second most common type of soulmate is a platonic bond. Platonic soulmates are destined to be together, but they are there more for mutual comfort and support rather than love. There are three more types, but all of them are exceedingly rare; mentor, unrequited, and unmarked bonds. Mentor bonds are when the soulmates are destined to teach each other. This could manifest as a student-teacher like relationship or simply as someone leading you to a large revelation in your life. An unrequited bond means that one person has a soulbond, but that person either has someone else, or has an unmarked bond. This could lead to some form of a relationship between the Unrequited and their soulmate or it could leave the Unrequited lonely or depressed. Unmarked bonds are when someone simply doesn’t have a soulmark, so they have no way of knowing who their soulmate is.”
Coran spoke next, “For Alteans, soulmates are not simply assigned. We do have differing types of soulmate bonds, as humans do, but ours are bonds that were built. There are many different types of soulmate bonds, ranging from familial bonds to lover bonds to soldier bonds and more. Familial bonds mean that you have formed a platonic connection strong enough to be considered true family. This can be seen mainly as siblings or parent and child, but can be found as cousins, aunt/uncle and niece/nephew, grandparent and grandchild, etcetera. Lover bonds are just as they sound, a strong bond between lovers. Soldier bonds are when a bond is formed during a time of struggle. This can be seen as an actual war, or as something like fighting depression or anxiety, or having a large conflict with another. There are more types as well, such as one similar to the mentor bond you mentioned, but there are much too many to speak of now. Though we do not have any sort of ‘unmarked’ or ‘unrequited’ bond, as we form our own. For an Altean, your bond is shown during a time of great connection through the coloring of our cheek scales. The colors represent the bonds, and can oftentimes have more than one.”
“Dang, that’s so cool!” Hunk exclaimed. “So, are we going to share our soulmates now?” He paused for only a single tick before continuing. “Because I wanna go first! Okay, my soulmate is Shay.” Groans were heard from the group, accompanied by an ‘I told you so’ from Pidge as Hunk continued speaking, “She is really cool and awesome, but we aren’t sure about what type of relationship we have. It’s either platonic or romantic. For now we’re settling on platonic, with the whole, oh you know, war with the Galra to save the universe going on. When that’s over though, we wanna explore a bit together and see if it might be romantic.”
“D’awwww. Hunk, my man, you’re so cute. You have such a huge puppy-love crush on her, I would bet my favorite pair of sunglasses that you guys have a romantic bond,” Lance cooed, loving the way Hunk would gush about his perfect lady.
“Alright, well aside from the fact that Hunk in no way has a platonic bond, I do,” Pidge butted in, “None of you guys would know him though. It’s a guy I met in sixth grade. We bonded over nerd stuff and he actually helped me learn how to act like a guy and get used to pretending to be a guy when I snuck into the Garrison.”
There were various comments from the team of how her acting made more sense and how cool that was. There was a slight pause before Shiro decided to speak up next.
“I always wanted to meet my soulmate on my own. I didn’t want to search them out by their name or always wonder if anyone who had that name was my soulmate. Because of that I- I didn’t really pay attention to what the name was. I usually covered it with a sweatband or something and tried not to look at it much. When my arm was taken, I didn’t have to worry about that anymore… But now I can’t remember their name and I have no way of knowing who it was.” Emotions ran heavy through the air as Shiro took a few calming breaths.
Keith placed a hand on Shiro’s shoulder, silently reassuring his brother-like figure.
“You'll find them, they’ll know,” Hunk said as he passed a plate of cookies over to their leader.
Pidge gave Shiro a sympathetic look from over the top of her computer, and Lance smiled sadly, “Hey, they’re your soulmate. They’ll find you.”
“Now you are free to find your own soulmates, like us,” Allura said. “I haven’t found a soulmate yet, though with these times being as they are I’m nearly positive that my bond will be one of alliance or soldier.”
Coran dove in shortly after, “I have found my soulmate! You all will actually know of them, especially you, Allura! King Alfor was my soulmate.” A chorus of exclamations rose from his listeners at that statement, settling down only after realizing Coran would not finish until they were quiet. “We were brothers who became soldiers together. I was only a servant at the castle before we found our bond. After that, Alfor started looking more into my files and decided to promote me to Royal Advisor! We worked and joked side by side for many a year before the terrible incident with Zarkon. He saved the lions, his castle, daughter, and brother. I only wish I could have saved him as well.”
Allura rested her hand on Coran’s shoulder. They took a moment of silence before looking up and motioning to the final two paladins that they should tell their stories. The two looked at each other and communicated with their eyes. Keith seemed unwilling to share about his soulmate. Lance steeled his resolve and spoke up.
“You guys all have such cool stories about your soulmates, I kind of feel awkward about how short mine is. I have an unrequited bond. I met them long ago, but they never recognized me even after I tried to approach them about it.” Lance stated it like a long-rehearsed verse, quick and to the point. His tone left little to question, except—
“Who was it?” Shiro asked. Lance simply shook his head, refusing to say a name.
Keith took that as his queue to speak up. “My story is also pretty short. I have a soulmate. I haven’t met him.”
“Well, can we ask you who it is?” Hunk prodded.
Keith nodded, rubbing his wrist gently. He spoke one simple word, a noun, a name. As Keith moved his lips to say it, Lance’s world stopped. His whole universe jerked to a halt and started spinning in reverse, his mind was racing faster than the castle going through a wormhole.
“Wait… What?”
I finally got this posted!! I have been trying all day to post this!! Here is chapter 1, 1775 words of my first story! I hope you all like it!

Unrequited beta?
Hello to all 9 of my followers and anyone else who sees this!
I am still working on my fic Unrequited that I posted a summary for a while ago. The thing is, I am a very self-doubting person and I am also very new to writing.
I was wondering if anyone would want to beta read for me or otherwise help me or give me a critique on my writing before I post it? If you are willing to do this, please message me.

i love that one scene where coran tells lance that the castle doesn’t have a siren but then immediately goes “but if you want you can make a siren sound and i’ll record you” i just…. what a dad thing to do. coran could’ve easily just said no and shut lance down because why would the castle even need a siren? but instead coran was like ‘you know what? i can roll with that. it’s a wholesome idea and it wouldn’t hurt anybody. i don’t want my son to be disappointed so if u want a siren we can make that happen’

Unrequited - Summary
Here is a little peak into a story I'm writing. I have had this as an idea for a while, so now I am finally making something of it! I'm hoping to make this a multi-post fic but it might end up being a one-shot... well, here you go:
Keith.
Keith, the name has been enscribed on his wrist ever since he came of age. Keith, the hot-headed ace pilot prodigy who he is so often compared to. Keith, who doesn't even have the decency to glance his way even once. Keith, who tried to rescue his older brother and got stuck trying to save the universe. Keith, his "rival" who can't even stand to be in the same room as him for more than 10 ticks. Keith, his -unrequited- soul mate.
Lance had heard of unrequited soul marks, but he was positive that his was not one of those rare cases... until he actually met Keith. He was sure his soul mate would love him more than anything, and he would feel the same for him... but apparently Lance was wrong...

Who did you call?! Continuation
In response to/inspired by “Who Did You Call?!” Klangst post by langsty-mc-langstface
Lance has had a crush on the schools bad boy for a long time, but could never work up the nerve to do anything about it. Said bad boy never even noticed him, so Lance dubbs him a ‘rival’ in hopes of gaining the boys attention. After much pinning and angst, the boys get together. Everything is great as far as Keith knows, but Lance is very insecure and worrying that he could never be enough for Keith. One night, Keith hears him on the phone, and bursts in, accusing Lance of cheating. Lance doesn’t even defend himself, he’s just so devastated that all he can do is get up and run away. Keith thinks this is an admission of guilt, and checks Lances phone to see who it was Lance was with. The phone rings two times before a woman answers “Suicide hotline”. Keith doesn’t know what to think, he stands there in silent shock for a while, “hello? Are you there?” Startles him out of his silence. He hangs up immediately and runs to find Lance, frantically dialling up all of his and Lances friends that he can think of. Nobody can find Lance. After a long time of futile searching, Keith finds a crowd of people gathered at the base of a tall building, all shouting protests to someone up top. Keith looks up-its Lance. He tries to shout at Lance, but between the wind and other people, his shouts go unheard. He sprints into the building, searching for the quickest way to the roof. Once he is at the door to the roof, he allows himself to slow down. If he just bursts in, he would probably scare lance and make him loose balance and fall. Keith sneaks onto the roof and over to Lance. He wraps his arms around Lances waist and pulls back, letting Lance fall on top of him on the roof. Lance yells and struggles, but eventually gives up, quietly sobbing on Keith’s chest. All Keith can think to do is quietly try to comfort Lance, whispering apologies and reassurances to his love while littering butterfly kissed across Lances neck.

Crash
There was an ask to @lance-mcpain-is-my-mcgain for a car crash klance fic, but she opened it up to be answered by anyone. I got insparation, so I wrote it. It doesn’t have very much klance, but its there.
Lance was just on his way home from a race. He had been driving with keith, who came as a spectator, and they were nearly home. Lance had been following Shiro and Allura’s car. Shiro was also in the race, as the cross country team captain, and Allura was there to cheer them on. Lance came to a complete stop at the sign, looked both ways, and continued on. From the corner of his eye Lance saw a large blur of bright, shiny red.
His instincts took over and his foot jammed the gas pedal down as hard as he could, his vision tunneling, and his mind chanting “go, gO, GO, GET OUT OF THERE!”. He heard the engine work to speed up and a shrieking screech that came from somewhere outside of the car. Time sped to an incredible rate as the world was suddenly spinning after a sharp jerking motion.
All too soon the spinning slowed and Lance’s car was facing toward the ditch, inching closer and closer to the light post by the road. After only a moment, Lance’s mind started working again.
“The car is still moving, stop it” Lance put on the breaks, then shifted into park.
“You were just hit. Who knows what was damaged in the car, it could explode with the engine still running” Lance turned the car off and pulled out the key.
“Your head feels kind of funny, your ears are ringing a bit. You are likely going into shock. If not, you likely will be soon” Lance took a few deep breaths.
“Other than possible shock, you have no injuries. Keith was in the car with you” Lance looked to his right.
“Keith is in the car with you. Is he hurt?” Lance studied Keith, seeing no visible injuries, he had to ask, “Keith?” but there was no response. Lance tried again, “Keith? Hey, buddy, are you alright?” and this time he was answered.
“I…” Keith paused. “I’m alright. I’m not hurt…” Keith seemed a bit out of it, but the response was enough to sooth Lance’s mind for now as he continued checking his surroundings.
“You were hit, that means there was another car. That means there were more people.” Lance unbuckles his seatbelt and opens his door. Trying to stand up, he notices how weak he feels and sits back down. After only a few seconds, Lance pulls himself up and shakily steps towards the fancy red car that had hit his. “Hey! Are you ok? Are you hurt?” Lance barely managed to keep standing, but his knees locked and his eyes would not waiver from their target.
“Ya, I’m ok, but what about my car? WHAT ABOUT MY CAR?! Do you SEE THIS?? Do you SEE WHAT YOU DID? LOOK AT MY CAR!!” The driver, an old man, bellowed. He mentioned nothing of the woman, likely his wife, who had been seated right next to him.
Lance took a few steps back, as if the words had physically pushed him, and leaned on his car. “There is someone else in the car. The lady hasn’t said anything yet,” his mind reminded him.
“Are you ok? Ma’am? Are you hurt Ma’am?” Lance called out as the man continued his incessant ranting.
The woman nodded, “I’m fine, I’m not hurt,” she rushed the words out before hurrying to calm her husband. She got him to quiet down for the most part, but he would still yell out every now and again.
Lance slid down into his seat. It was as if everything caught up to him as he choked out a sob, mind falling out of its checklist-like state and catching up with the emotion of it all. He looked to the side, reached out, placed a hand gently on either side of Keith’s face and turned it to look at himself. “Keith?” He questioned.
“Ya, Lance?”
“Are you really ok? You’re not hurt at all? Really truly?”
“I’m not hurt. Really, Lance. Really truly. What about you?”
“I’m fine. No, not fine, but I’m not hurt.”
There was a moment of silence before they both pulled each other in for a tight embrace. They sat in each others’ presence, soaking up the heat of their bodies, the strength in their arms, the fact that they are both still alive and well. When their silence was broken, it was Keith who had spoken first.
“I could have died,” Keith sobbed, “You- we could have died!”
“We both could have- we could have died…”
The boys only clung to each other tighter as the fact settled in their minds.
“We are so lucky to be alive right now” Neither boy is sure which said it, but it rang true in both of their hearts. They pulled apart, holding each other by the shoulders, and stared at one another. They were both silently crying as they struggled to get used to this new information.
Keith and Lance each leaned back in their seats, taking turns checking up on each other every minute, making sure the other still hadn’t been injured, no matter what logic tells them. The minutes passed by without fail, and the boys relished in the fact that they could have died, but didn’t. They relished in the fact that they could have been sent to a hospital in critical condition, but they weren’t. Mostly, the buys relished in the pure fact that each of them was, undoubtedly alive.
Thank you for reading! Please let me know what you guys think!
