Supernatural Finale Thoughts

If Dean was going to die young of unnatural causes, it would have been more poetic to have had him die in a car cash.

He was supposed to die as a result of the crash at the end of season 1, but John made a deal to save him. He also died in a car accident on the first redo Tuesday in “Mystery Spot.”

They could have brought out the original Baby from that first crash and that could have been the version that Sam kept all those years.

Would also make a bit more sense why Baby was in heaven too. Just drives her right into heaven. (And of course, sees Cas on the road like he did after Purgatory. Drive into the sunset together).

But I digress.

You know what gets me - is that Marinette can’t recognize Adrien or Chat Noir by their asses. You have one man that she has been totally crazy in love with for 4 seasons. She has edited and watched video reels of this man countless times. And then this other man, who saves her life at least once a week. Her life could literally depend on her ability to recognize Chat Noir by his ass. And now we have this third man (Cat Walker) who has an identical ass and whom she was totally crushing on for a night. And she can’t play “do the butts match?” C’mon. Are you in love with this man or not?

May I just say, as someone who has watched both BBC’s Merlin and Kung Fu Panda, the things that Marinette is doing to prevent Chat Blanc from happening again are really triggering.

Just talk to your Chat boy. He wants to be in the loop. Explain to him. Tell him about Chat Blanc, please. They just need to have a REAL hour long conversation in these last four episodes. Please.

Furthermore: The show has shown that Hawkmoth knowing their secret identities gives him all the power he needs to defeat them, thus the reverse should be true.

Adrien knowing before hand gives him time to come to terms with the fact that his father is terrorizing Paris (and that he is a victim of abuse) and gives him the opportunity to try to stop his father as Adrien. As a son, not as a masked superhero. If the narrative ended with a boy without his powers taking on his abuser and either convincing him to willingly give up his Miraculous and/or leading to him being behind bars - well that would be very Zuko of the show, wouldn't it? It would be a much more powerful ending than Ladybug and Chat Noir simply busting in to take the Miraculous of their unknown adversary. Only then to find out his identity.

Based on Ephemeral:

I think the only way the reveal could stick before Hawkmoth is defeated, is for Gabriel to be revealed as Hawkmoth first. If LB/CN know who their enemy is, they could reveal to each other and work to keep the truth from their now known enemy. Turn the tables from Ephemeral and Chat Blanc.

The plan: partial Hawkmoth reveal, Adrien knows what he’s dealing with at home, all cards on the table for a full love square reveal, then mastermind the Hawkmoth takedown. Endgame.

*Miraculous Ladybug S4/Ephemeral Spoilers Ahead*

Against the sentimonster theory and theorizing the directionality of the shows endgame:

In reaction to all of the Adrien!Sentimonster theories, I really hope the show doesn’t go there. As someone who grew up in a controlling and verbally abusive household, I think Adrien’s reactions to 1. getting told to do something by his father, 2. pushing back, 3. having his father speak even more firmly and decisively (while happening to rub his ring), and then 4. acquiescing are very true of abuse. Adrien is only 14-15. He’s lived a very sheltered life and right now, his father is all he really has in terms of traditional family. He knows that his father was/is greatly hurt by the “absence” of Emilie and is “doing what he can.” (Irl Gabriel is a garbage human). But to Adrien, Gabriel is his hurting but nevertheless controlling father. So I really hope the show would not go down the sentimonster path. It would simultaneously increase the horror of Adrien’s situation as a true pawn (and not just a model and spokesman for his father’s brand) and semi-negate Gabriel’s crimes as a child abuser. Part of the wonder of Adrien’s character is by all accounts he could thematically be the villain. Abused, missing mother, destruction abilities, bad luck. But that’s not who he is. He hasn’t been corrupted by his father’s blind ambition. Unless he was created by Emilie directly from her love, it doesn’t fit for him not to fully change to Gabriel’s will. And as we know from Voldemort, beings created through misguided love aren’t sustainable. I can’t see the sentimonster theory ending any other way then Adrien “dying.” Or at minimum forever being at risk of being controlled again, which is not a life he would want. I would hate for the show to go that way for Adrien’s sake.

Instead of that theory, what we have is a great on-screen depiction of daily micro-controlling abuse. Refuse, get overruled, acquiesce. We constantly see Adrien’s desire for freedom and validation and love outside of the home. The close bonding to the people who do truly love him. And a love for the parent who abuses him, like making excuses for Gabriel’s warped reasoning. This is something that may take a lifetime for Adrien to overcome; never mind his father also being Hawkmoth. He already has enough on his plate, let the boy be happy.

The ring rubbing could simply just be a habit/tick of Gabriel’s. When he needs parenting authority, he rubs his ring, thinking of his wife, who doubtless would know how to converse with Adrien better. We don’t see Hawkmoth rubbing his ring under his supersuit when he needs strength, it’s just with Adrien. When in doubt as a parent specifically, he invokes his wife’s metaphorical aid. (If not this I have another theory on this, see below**).

On the Endgame:

While speaking of Gabriel, after the double confirmation from Chat Blanc and now Ephemeral that Ladybug and Chat Noir can’t reveal their identities without Hawkmoth finding out eventually, I think the only way the reveal could stick before Hawkmoth is defeated, is for Gabriel to be revealed as Hawkmoth first. If Chat Noir and/or Ladybug secretly find out who Hawkmoth is, you bet your ass Ladybug would be swooping into Adrien’s window to take him away from that monster. Hawkmoth won’t go down easy so I don’t think it will be a reveal and bam he’s in jail. The man has minimum two secret rooms in his house and countless resources at his disposal. If the pair know who their enemy is, they could reveal to each other and keep the truth from their now known enemy. As the show has now repeatedly confirmed, it won’t work if LB/CN don’t know what civilian to keep the secret from. Both times he found out and then was able to plan to use it against them, it was due to his actions as Gabriel and found out as himself/from Natalie, not during a fight as Hawkmoth where it would be fixed with the ladybugs. If they know, they can lie better. Keep the secret better. (And hopefully also get Adrien away from Gabriel). But also, as the fight scenes showed in Ephemeral, LB/CN are stronger when the truth is (even partially) out there. They will need their fully united strength to defeat Hawkmoth. Based on the rules the show has given so far, that’s the only way I can see a reveal going before Hawkmoth’s defeat. Hawkmoth reveal, Adrien knows what he’s dealing with at home, all cards on the table for a full reveal, then mastermind the Hawkmoth takedown. Having a partial/full LB/CN reveal led to Hawkmoth winning and making the Wish. Revealing him first would accordingly serve to turn the tables in LB/CN’s favor. And maybe that’s the show’s endgame.***

** Additional rings theory: either an incomplete but still powerful Miraculous with influence based powers (we’ve seen the two together but not both on one person I believe, or maybe there is more of the set). Or a copy of a miraculous or else some other powerful object outside of the miraculous that grants similar powers of influence and control. We know there are other Miraculous and other objects of power in world, so I could totally vibe with it being something else ancient and powerful outside of the miraculous/Sentimonsters. Further, Adrien is the only person who really says no to his father. Everyone else in Gabriel’s life is either on his payroll, pacified by his fame and wealth, or akumatized. The only time he needs extra influence is with his son. Hence conscious or not, he uses the ring to gain the upper hand.

***Had Gabriel one-sided revealed himself to Adrien in Felix, we might have been on this course already.

What if the thing Cas “could never have” was specifically to spend forever with and loving Dean? Objectively, his life as an angel is basically immortal - therefore, his true version of forever could never happen. But through this sacrifice, he can spend the rest of his life with Dean - and even more so, a Dean who knows he is so very loved - even if the rest of his life is only a few moments. Therefore, he got his greatest happiness.

Moreover, this implies that Cas knows it is not impossible for Dean to love him back - as the line in question may led us to believe. He knows that Dean versus his own insecurities and self-hatred is the barrier to their relationship. By breaking down that wall, Cas leaves the door open for their relationship should he escape the Empty.

Fingerscrossed. Been shipping this for 11 years, I’ll hold out hope for two more episodes.

While rewatching BBC’s Merlin recently, I taught my mom about the Universal Angle of Homosexual Longing™. And now whenever she sees it when I’m watching Supernatual, a la Destiel, she very excitedly points it out. It is one of the best things I have done in this life.

Bisexual Confessions

Do you ever think about how Merlin has spent 1000+ years waiting for Arthur to come back, meaning that he has had a millennia to come up with an awesome one-liner to roast/love Arthur with. As language and slang changes, Merlin keeps to the words Arthur would know, that were special between them. He goes through phases: “Hello, clotpole,” *bows* and sassily says “my lord,” “the pain in my arse has finally returned.” That kind of Merlin banter Arthur loves.

But then, after all this time, all these centuries, Arthur finally comes back and Merlin knows his sick burn just like he knows that that man...that’s Arthur. At that realization, at seeing the Once and Future King for the first time outside of his dreams and waking memory for 100s of years, Merlin enters such a gay panic that he can’t remember any of his opening lines. Thankfully, Arthur seems to feel the same as he struts over and makes out with the suddenly young again sorcerer. And they both live happily gay after.

Fanfic Confessions

My favorite thing about reading fanfic is my ability to read the dirtiest and kinkiest sex scenes with a completely straight face, but as soon as it transitions to the next morning and Person A wakes up Person B with a “Good morning, baby” and a plate of toast, I lose my damn mind and start happy squealing.

Bonus points if Person B replies: “Thank you for the toast, but you’re welcome for the great sleep you got after last night.” *winks*

Bisexual Confessions

Watching Pride and Prejudice (2005) is honestly such a prim and proper Regency bisexual wet dream. Because each scene with Lizzie and Darcy as a bi viewer is like “oh my god Lizzie is a stunning goddess,” then “oh and here’s Darcy and he’s a freaking cute ass beef cake man,” and sometimes it’s “oh my there’s Jane and she is a beam of beautiful sunshine,” and “oh Mr. Bingley let me touch those fluffy ginger locks.” When they start bantering, it becomes a high speed game of tennis and I am the ball person ready to pick up all the excess sexual tension, all while having an asthma attack over their swoon-worthy voices. Like fucking kiss already, the intense stares and covert glances are killing me. Please kiss each other. Or me, I don’t fucking care! Why does this movie have to end, you are all so beautiful. Send help. Neither closeted child me or bi as fuck now me can handle this movie without much squealing.
