Rollerblading
I gripped the torch in my wobbling hand, and its dilute beam of light wobbled too, the minute movements of my fingers amplified into great, jerking leaps. Unsteadiest of all were my feet, mashed ambitiously into Ella’s size seven rollerblading boots. In the sallow inner city light the weathered shine of their cheap plastic appeared fleshy and wet. I imagined that they were part of me – thick, calloused appendages which had sprung inexplicably from my otherwise ordinary feet – and I let go of the garage door. I rolled forward an inch, and immediately clung back on, catching my breath in three quick, sweaty puffs. An onlooking bat cackled maliciously. In embarrassed frustration, I let go once more, this time propelling myself against the garage door with my right hand as I flapped the torch spastically in my left, and rolled a metre or two before stopping. The bat took off – a poor excuse for a schoolyard bully – and I pushed myself forward triumphantly. Slowly, I made my way to the other end of the alley, clinging onto garage door after garage door until I made it to the bottom of the gently sloping lane. Satisfied, I rolled my head back to stare at the stars; which was a mistake, I realized, as I spun dizzyingly into a mishmash of cold brick and soggy gutter. I caught myself against the wall before head hit concrete, and rested for a moment, relieved.

Dizzy Spell
Summer was a dizzy spell. Neve sat beside me in her pretty bikini, tie-dyed blue to look like a cloudy day, half in sun and half in friendly shade.
We swapped – positions and poems – and found a new equilibrium. We had to drag the kiddy pool into full sun to satisfy my summer sensibilities. I inched unhappily into the plastic green depths and my skirt swam lazily between my thighs. Our idyllic afternoon was ruffled only by the dull effort required by my abdominal muscles to maintain my artful pose. Eventually, I let my head loll back and watched the bees fly upside down.

Jewish LGBT Musicians
Adam Lambert - Gay pop/pop rock artist. In 2012 his second album “Trespassing” became the first album by an openly gay artist to top the U.S Billboard 200 charts. His mother is Jewish from Romania and he was raised in the religion. Check out his single “The Original High.”
Brooke Candy - Pansexual Italian and Jewish electropop/pop-rap artist. She first got famous after starring in Grime’s 2012 Genesis video. Her debut EP is set to be released this October but she has a bunch of singles out right now and they’re amazing! “Living out loud” is about being unapologetically you and her collaboration with fellow queer artists Pussy Riot and Mykki Blanco “My Sex” is a gay anthem.
Ezra Furman - Bisexual gender nonconforming/androgynous man. He’s said “I am just a male. I guess I just do being a man different than some.” His music is primarily indie/psychedelic rock. In “Compulsive Liar” he sings about being closeted and struggling with his sexuality. In “I lost my innocence” he sings about losing his virginity to a boy named Vincent.
Frankie Cosmos - The stage name of Greta Kline. Her father was German-Jewish and her mother was Russian-Jewish and Chinese-Filipino. She also released music under the alias Ingrid Superstar. Her music ranges from Indie rock to lo-fi to Indie pop. Idk her sexuality but “Sappho” is very gay.
God-des - The stage name of gay artist Alicia Smith, part of the funky soulful hiphop duo God-des & She. Listen to “Lick it” a tribute to lesbian sex.
Janis Ian - Lesbian folk singer-songwriter who was big in the 1960s/1970s. She came out in ‘93 and released her album “Breaking Silence.” She married Patricia Snyder in 2003 and wrote gay anthem “Married in London” in favor of marriage equality.
Japanese Breakfast - The stage name of queer/bisexual pop artist Michelle Zauner. She is Korean-Jewish but states she chose her alias because she strongly identified with Japanese culture growing up because it was the closest mainstream thing she could find to Korean culture. Her debut album “Psychopomp” was released in 2016, followed by “Soft sounds from another planet” in 2017.
Mykki Blanco - Black Jewish gay man & rapper. He currently uses he/him pronouns bur has used different ones throughout his career and briefly believed he was transgender. He’s spoken about being HIV Positive before and is generally a very interesting and inspiring person. Listen to “Bugged out” and “Im in a mood.”
Peaches - Queer/Bisexual Electroclash and Electropunk artist. Age, Gender, Feminism, and Sex are all big reocurring themes in her music. Several of her lyrics are about her getting older and she’s said “I’m going to make aging cool.” Her 2000 album “The teaches of Peaches” and 2003 album “Fatherfucker” are both very interesting. For gay songs listen to “Casanova” and “Rub.”
Troye Sivan - Gay South African pop/dance pop artist and youtuber. His debut album “Blue Neighborhood” was released in 2015 and followed by “Bloom” this year. In “Seventeen” he sings about losing his virginity to an older man. He also has a duet with Ariana Grande, “Dance to this.”
