i KNOW im beating a dead horse but we were so robbed and i could genuinely talk about this for hours. SHES THE MOST OVERPROTECTIVE SISTER TO HIM. SHE STAYS THE SAME UPPITY RICH GIRL WITH A HEART OF GOLD BECAUSE SHE ADMITS HER FLAWS AND STRUGGLES BUT STILL KEEPS A MASK UP MOST OF THE TIME. SHE LOVES LADYBUG AND CANT STAND CHAT NOIR UNTIL THE REVEAL BECAUSE THATS HILARIOUS. THE POTENTIAL KEEPS ME UP AT NIGHT. i will NEVER accept what we got.

i was talking to this friend whose bday is around easter time. she was telling me how some of the gifts she got were so obviously from the easter themed collections and she felt a little bitter like easter kinda overshadowed her bday and those ppl didn’t really keep her in mind cuz it’s like a festive gift already.

it made me think of dokja since his birthday is right after a day that celebrates love. someone who grew up unloved being born on the day right after valentines is certainly poetic but just thinking about like maybe his coworkers or relatives giving him gifts out of a sense of obligations and them being valentines themed. a heart box with chocolates or gifts with cheesy messages that he knows these ppl don’t actually mean. these gifts are something you give to ppl you love but he knows that he got these gifts cuz the ppl who gave them to him just couldn’t be bothered to put an effort to pick something he would actually like? sometimes the valentines gifts are on clearance since it’s right after the actual day when those gifts would actually matter and so those ppl might buy those v day themed gifts cuz they’re cheap and celebratory at the same time. at the very least maybe he would’ve appreciated a bookmark or something simple but they end up spending more on tacky red heart shaped gifts cuz it’s the first thing that catches their eyes and they never actually bothered to know his interests in order to get him something worth having. a base level worth of effort in order to maintain a facade of decency to follow societal norms. nothing more, nothing less.

maybe dokja can hold those in his hands and pretend he really does have ppl in the world who love him, at least by re reading the meaninglessly cheery messages on the gifts over and over again. maybe then, he might actually begin to believe it and pretend he knows what it means to be loved.
