Mulder felt his heart drop out of his body. 

He looked up into the blue-silver eyes across the table from him, taking in their victorious gleam as all hope fled his body.

“Surely, you wouldn’t…” he breathed, already knowing the answer.

“Oh, I most certainly would,” the low, husky voice replied.

Mulder closed his eyes and dropped his head as, with no small amount of flourish, Scully placed a hotel on Boardwalk, raising the rent to unfathomable prices. 

He was going to be broke in less than 4 turns. He knew it. Scully owned over half of the board, all of the utilities, and all but one of the railroads. She had hotels and houses everywhere. He already had three properties mortgaged to afford her exorbitant rent prices and now? Now he was staring bankruptcy in the eyes. 

“Damn,” was all he could think to say.

He looked back up at his partner; she was resting her chin on her fists, looking more than a little pleased with herself. She knew she had, essentially, just won and was savoring the moment.

Suddenly, Mulder didn’t mind at all that she had him pinned. 

Without looking away from her, he reached out and took the dice, rolling them carelessly across the board. 

Scully looked down for only a second before meeting his eyes again. “That’s a four. You’re going to Boardwalk.” She wet her lips, eyes twinkling.

Mulder nodded, a smile playing on his lips. “What do I owe you?”

She didn’t even look at her cards; she already knew the price. “Two-thousand dollars.”

“Hm.” Mulder glanced down at his cards. “I don’t have enough properties to mortgage.”

“You could sell a few to me.” Her voice was so even, so calm, even as her eyes blazed trails across his face between his eyes and his lips. 

He tilted his head. “Which ones do you want?”

“All of them,” she answered unflinchingly.

“Deal.” Mulder pushed the property cards across the table and then, without another word, leaned over the board to capture her lips in his, knocking a few of her hotels aside.

She kissed him back with equal eagerness and, soon, they were carrying each other away from the table, leaving all thoughts of properties and mortgages there on the board.

Daredevil season 3 church scene where Karen stands 15 feet away from bullseye and matt and whispers that she can save the other people in the church if matt leads bullseye away.

this scene means so much to me, because it's knowing and understanding matt, like nobody had ever done in the show before. not elektra, not even the other superhuman defenders.

karen knows that matt can hear her, knows that matt will hear her. she knows that matt is capable of hearing every little mutter and every breath of the 15 people and that he's focused on bullseye infront of him and she whispers, so quiet nobody else so close can hear her but matt.

it's the way she whispers matts name while he is dressed in black. it's so intimate and accepting.
