“It was still only nine o'clock when I set off on the last leg of my journey, feeling old and dirty and incapable. You probably know the feeling if you are over eighteen. ”

“You my dear woman, need a hobby,” I snorted before taking a lovely gulp of one of Sherlock’s finer brandies. “-like crime. Or knitting. Or incest, the game the whole family can enjoy,”
(open;;)
“Bored, bored, bored. I need a new case. Urgently.”

“You’re right,” a soft smile came across her face as she looked at him when she realized he was right.
“Thank you, I needed to hear those words. I won’t stop fighting. I will never stop fighting, even if I get hurt again.”
I gave her shoulder a sort of ‘there-there’ pat on her shoulder before pouring her a rather large amount of brandy “-now then. Drink up. Best thing for a tumble.”

“A willing trade,”
She was a fascinating woman there was no denying that. I did wonder if she had some ulterior motive. But of course I had found her. So of course she couldn’t have planned any of this, right? Taking her offered hand, I leaned forward and placed a polite kiss on top.
“-shall we, Ms. Lansacosta?”

After a few more moments, I was convinced that the thugs had gone off and the threat was over. The woman had tasted sweet... and warm. And it took all of my effort not to let my thoughts continue to linger on just how soft her lips had been. I offered her a polite hand.
“Charlie Mortdecai, at your service. You have been of immense help. Would you mind if I took you to dinner.. drinks at least? It is of course the least I can do for your service,” I kept my face plain. I did not want to seem as if I was asking her out to get more from her than I deserved. It was payment for services rendered.

I didn’t realize I supposedly wanted a Picasso. How you got it does not concern me regardless. Are you certain you have the right number?
There was of course the possibility either a client, ally, or someone else who knew her had done it as a gift to her, but The Woman was nonetheless surprised by the text.

You’ve wanted one for a very long time. If I remember correctly, you thought it would look lovely over your dorm-room bed, and would drive the other girls mad with jealousy. Charlie Mortdecai, at your service once again.

I glanced at the frankly gorgeous woman up and down, before replying sheepishly: “I don’t need quite that sort of distraction,”
When the men had turned the corner, I flung my arms around her and planted a rather skilled kiss. The men who HAD been looking for a rather dashing criminal art dealer, ignored the groping couple, and continued their way down the alley. I waited the appropriate time and distance before breaking the kiss, and I must admit my face was likely very red.
“Capitol. You’re... quite talented at that.”

“Pardon me terribly madam, but it would seem those gruff men are intent on trying to harm me. May I borrow you for a quick distraction?”

Well you didn’t have to tell me twice. With a leap that a greyhound would envy I dove into the man’s card, and retrieved the banker’s special pistol from my waistband.
“Drive like Apollo!” I bellowed, firing a few well aimed shots from the open back window.
❛ get in the damn car and i’ll bloody answer your questions. at the moment i do not wish to die !! ❜

Dear reader, I must admit I had been caught afoul. Here I was thinking that I was as stealthy as the proverbial cat. Then as I made a rather swift turn, my knee collided with a cement divider.
“-would you believe... I’ve come to ask you about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?”
Open
She snapped her head around at the sound of someone uttering “Ow!”
“I’m curious to hear what your excuse is for following me.”

OutOfArt:
Hello my ducks.
Uncle Charlie is back!
Going to do a bit of revamp. However, established relationships and the like shall remain, it’s just the open threads I’ll likely be dropping, However if you’d like to plot or roleplay, by all means let me know!

“Do not speak to me as if I have not seen horrors and challenges of my own,” I replied crisp and coldly. I knew what she was feeling... but we did not at present have the time for this sort of back and forth of selflessness. We had to be tactical. “-go inside. Rest.. relax yourself. I will send Jock for your things, and for Kate. We will take dinner, and then we will formulate the best strategy moving forward,”
With the slightest of nods, I signaled Jock to escort Ms. Adler inside. I myself, needed to refresh as well. Jock was polite and professional as he showed Irene to the guest room. Making small talk. “-I understand you known Mister Charlie a long time. He speaks o’you fondly Miss. If there’s anything you need jus’ hollar and I’ll come.”
Once inside myself, I showered, shaved, changed and made a few minor phone-calls and arrangements. Clad in the finest smoking jacket, and powered and after-shaven, I felt a new man, and I bounded downstairs to the sitting room, to await my guest for before dinner cocktails.

I realized now that this time, whatever little we spent together, was her escape from.. whatever it was she was running from “-then.. allow me to assist,” he stood, moved around behind her chair, and began to rub her shoulders “-excuse my behavior... I’ve been more irritable of late. Nothing worth troubling you over.”
