Chapter 1, Page 11

FINALLY HERE, 10 months after the last page, and 2 weeks in the making. Yes, this is something that I'm still really invested in. I'm sorry for taking so long, I hope you enjoy it! I am a slow illustrator, and there is just so much that I feel that I must do, that committing to the creation of just one of these pages is a pretty hard decision to make at most times. However, this comic is my baby, and I promise to go the distance with it, as long as it may take.

Matt Gomez is a red squirrel, and Nat's immediate hierarchical superior at her office. He is a pragmatic, but pretty laid back middle-aged guy who is pretty well regarded among his subordinates, even if he can't help but micromanage a bit every now and then. He is not Nat's problem.

Another Musteladies fan piece that my friend @sura-resch requisitioned from the amazing @skecchiart (NSFW), and this time is Kim, who would almost certainly be getting many more drink offers than drink orders if she presented herself like this for her bartending duties. I guess this is one of her few nights off, and she decided instead to defend her reputation as a bar game queen. Strip poker, perhaps? Only if you feel like ending up without your pants. She may not be wearing any, but she knows that she’s not going to be taking off her very eye-catching cheongsam. ;)

Once again, thank you so much to my buddy for getting these. I can only hope to one day be able to draw my own characters in such an alluring fashion!

Mustelady Rides: Liz

After being able to shake off the conditioning her abusive father imposed on her for the whole duration of her youth and leaving his house for good, Liz spent more than one year as a homeless vagrant before catching the eye of a certain skunk bartender, who befriended her and ended up offering her a job at the Knockout Bar, as well as a place to stay, in a small apartment in the same building. With her first salary, the big badger girl purchased a city bicycle, which allowed her to expand her mobility greatly while moving around town to perform errands for her new employers and benefactors. She is looking forward to learn how to drive motor vehicles (in particular motorcycles, which she finds to be the epitome of cool), but it is unlikely that she’ll forego the opportunity to exert herself on the move, as well as the simple convenience of a bicycle for relatively small trips. She has had enough of the wandering life, and rediscovered the happiness of having a roof to come home to. Now, to figure out what to do with the rest of her life. Even after settling down, Liz still carries the backpack containing her essentials most everywhere she rides to. She tells herself that it’s for the extra load increasing the difficulty of her pedaling exertion, but the truth is that after so much time on the road, she still feels a little naked and insecure if she doesn’t have her stuff near her. Just give her a little more time, I guess. ;)

Mustelady Rides: Mel

All of the Machado siblings were offered a new vehicle from their parents after they obtained their respective driver’s licenses. Well, all… except for Mel, who failed her road test and then just couldn’t be bothered to do it again. I mean, it’s not like she actually needed a driver’s license, since until her recent predicament she had enough money to be driven everywhere she wanted. Even so, her older brother Alex, who always had a soft spot for Mel, ended up leaving her his Jeep Compass when he moved out from the Machado home, since his fiancee already owned a car of her own. Of course, this wasn’t incentive enough for Mel to get off her butt and become licensed to drive her very nice new vehicle. Instead, she ended up making a deal with her younger brother Chris: he would make himself available to drive her to whichever parties and outings she happened to feel like going to, and in exchange, she would introduce (and recommend) him to her numerous cute female friends. By the time Mel was kicked away from home, this deal had been up and running for more than a year, and it turned out to be quite advantageous for both parties: Chris made bank by hooking up with double digits of Mel’s acquaintances, whereas Mel was saved more than once from the consequences of her excesses by Chris’s timely interventions. Still, he doesn’t regret the fact that he doesn’t only have to serve as his sister’s designated driver, but also her bodyguard and chaperone. It does grant him the right to reply to almost everything Mel says with wry, snarky comments, so it all balances out in the end. ;)

Mustelady Rides: Nat

Nat drives a small hatchback, specifically a silver-blue Peugeot 208: compact, economical, practical yet sleek. Her bulky tail forced her to pick the “tail arch” front seats, which allow the long appendage to go through and sit below the back seats. Awkward to whoever sits behind, but hey, it’s not as if anyone ever did. Well, maybe a couple of times. Her mother, usually.

Whenever she drives to the beach, she reclines the passenger seat and places her surfboard on top of it. It fits inside the car, but with not much room to spare! And of course, she always puts the seatbelt on it. Safety first!

Musteladies: Photoshoot

Kim is not really a hardcore anime fan (although she always give a chance to anything otaku Mel recommends to her), but she nevertheless immensely enjoys accompanying Mel in her cosplay adventures, since it’s fun and an outlet to her modelling dreams. It helps that Mel offers to create Kim’s outfits in addition to her own. Yes, to everyone’s surprise, Mel has great sewing and crafting skills, and she loves taking advantage of Kim’s very photogenic figure and attitude to bring forward some pretty daring characters for the skunk to cosplay. The cosplay theme, though, went waaaaaay over the heads of designated photographers Nat and Liz. I guess Mel hasn’t had time to infect them with the anime bug yet. ;)

Focus shifts to Nat starting today, and that will last for a few pages, so say ciao to Mel, Chris and Stella for now. ;) Fun fact: the portrayed building is a recreation of the one where I worked for quite a few years. I only wanted to settle on a workplace outfit for Nat to wear on the comic, but somehow two variants ended up happening (your fault, @outlawquadrant)!

Beside her signature swimsuit that has already become pretty popular (I wonder why), I also reproduced an outfit used in two previous drawings I did of her, which represents her preferred combination for lounging around her place and sleeping during Summer.
