Update #3 -- "Sliding" into The Next Update
Haha, the name is corny - I know.
Anyway, this week's update is all about window animations.
Why the sudden change for these animations?
Well, it started with multiple visual overhauls we can't really show yet. Keyword, "battle system"
Well, I guess that's two words, so, keywords.
Anyway, to keep things matched with how the rest of the UI for the game will look, and also an issue we had with the menus not fading in properly, I quickly whipped this up.
Now the menus look really nice! Yay!
Anyway, that's it for this weeks update.

Update #2 - Starting From Concepts
Hey everyone, Retsu here - and let's face it, everything starts from a concept.
What would the process for creating a game be without any concepts?
Well, it wouldn't be anything!
Everything starts on a piece of a paper! That includes game mechanics, songs(?) and especially visuals!
"Haunted Hiker" is an enemy you'll encounter in the full game.
The sprite above started out as a desk doodle, actually!
Desk doodling is MUSO's primary way of coming up with enemy designs, they're all drawn out of boredom as we're doing mundane day-to-day tasks.
Enemies aren't the only thing that get concept art, either!
While I was trying to figure out the main cast a little more, I ended up drawing this:
Markus, Casey, Atabi and Nuttallii all being silly.
Here's an earlier version of Atabi's reference sheet, while I was still trying to refine his design even more.
I also concept out scenes aswell, as doing so helps me visualize in my head how I want some of the characters to act. Fun fact: originally Phrancis was going to be blocking the way of Greenthum Forest, not the Burger Joint!
I love Markus' little shrug...
Some location concepts...
When I'm trying to figure out ways of altering previously explored areas and making them feel more...new? I also like to concept them out as well.
Greenthum Graveyard, explored by Casey & Adam.
Anyway, that's it for this weeks dev update. Stay tuned!

Update #1 - It isn't MUSO without MUS-ic!
Hi everyone, Retsu here! A big portion of my involvement with MUSO (which spans the table pretty far) is the creation of music, as I'm the lead music composer for the game.
Above is Versus! A Childish Foe...
A large part of my job is getting music that fits! whether it be fighting against your local school bully, or casting fire on an old cranky bus driver from a Saturday morning cartoon, I spend a lot of my time trying to get a song that feels like it was used right.
One song from the demo you might all remember is Yin Yang (Always Right Behind You) / Adventure Theme which plays in Greenthum Forest.
I sometimes will reuse a song or motif, and slightly alter it to fit the scene even more than it did before. Just imagine - You're walking around the desert, and all of a sudden you hear this tune in from a distant car radio.
Fits, doesn't it?
Anyway, that's all from me today. Happy Easter, everyone!

Let's Talk Updates...
Click here to head back to the website.
Hey everyone! Retsu here. From now on, this will be the new format to get updates for MUSO. Here, we'll be able to batch out our dev log and show off things from behind the scenes - as well as other things you may be interested in! You'll also be able to ask us any questions you may like!
A cop and a kid having some sort of argument...maybe if you play the demo, you might know what they're arguing about...
