I don't need easy I just want fair Maybe more than a few years not filled with despair To feel that this battle I'm fighting is not just mine For it also belongs to the people I'll be leaving behind And that's just cruel I see no reason or cause That my son should have to deal with such a devastating loss Losing someone causes life alerting pain How can I explain to him that God's not to blame When I've taught him He holds the world is in his hands That He speaks life into existence to have faith in His plan I've been in pain since I was 12 & I've dealt with it just fine Been taking shots since I was 7 & nearly went blind at 35 I'd do it all over again just to watch him grow up Just to be there for him when things start to get rough Now I'm supposed to put on a brave smile Have faith in a God that let me suffer since I was a child If for no other reason it definitely made me stronger I just don't think I have the strength to do it any longer And so... I suppose that every life comes to an end No more sleepless nights & no more having to pretend That this hurt is not too much to bare That this life of mine has been easy or even the slightest bit fair Despite it all I've still done my best to make Him proud It be a relief to know the storm is almost over now For what it's worth the only real dream that I've ever had Was to leave a heart shaped hole in a world that needs it so bad It will all have been worth it & I'll consider this race won Just to hear my Father say "Well done.
