Processed lightning
When you try to stay absolutely still to take a picture through your work window of the massive storm that's erupted over the city and you keep missing the perfect shot. So you post-process to make yourself feel a little more worthy.

Lines in the sky
When you surreptitiously sneak up to the rooftop of your co-op and try to get a few pics in the failing light, your eyes are going to seek out the bold lines that everyday objects form. From the old NYC apartment.

Reflections through the looking glass
Much fun can be had with a pair of spectacles, a tempered glass-top table, a paper lamp and bike handles. Having nothing else to do is an added bonus. Taken in a previous NYC apartment.

Crouching monkey, hidden sun
When on top of Mt. Batur in Bali at the crack of dawn, you absolutely need to pay tribute to the monkeys by offering them part of your hard-earned breakfast. They are surprisingly well mannered and will gently take the food from your hands (which is more than I can say of some spoilt brats ... but, I digress). Oh, and they are used to posing for pictures - holding still for that exact moment you need them to, and then moving to the next banana err ... photographer.

Happy feet
Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats dipping your toes in warm waves and spacing out. More so when you are at a beach called Tanah Lot on the captivating island of Bali.

The Tree of Life
A forlorn tree left standing in the James River, VA with barnacles clinging to its trunk. Eerily beautiful in the morn light that touches its bare branches.
