The Spice Girls were an English pop group that were prominent figures during the rising wave of “cool Britannia” that swept the world in the 90′s. Consisting of five female members who were each named by conjugating a particular descriptive adjective to the word spice - i.e “SPORTY-Spice” ... “SCARY-spice”. Signed to virgin records, their spicy debut album sold 31 million copies making them the best selling female group in history.
Their hit song “2 become 1″ was a stand out spectacular - and no wonder - the concept of TWO uniting into ONE has been one of the most powerful archetypical images throughout human history - and the Spice Girls unabashedly utilised this jungian motif to full effect in their timeless lines: “Cause tonight is the night when two become one”. And just as easy as bringing together wave particle duality with the uncertainty principle in quantum physics, or the evolutionary merging of two symbiotic organisms into a singular whole through the eons, with the stroke of the pen, the spice girls had merged pop music forever with the Ancient Greek supposition that love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies - as written in Plato’s famous dialogue - the symposium. As the Spice Girls continue to deliver their sermon on the nature of the soul, they develop their dialectic by bringing concepts from Eastern Philosophy to the masses too: “Free your mind of doubt and danger”
- has been words of wisdom long insisted upon by the tantric practises found in Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Chinese Taoism - which believed the soul consisted of 7 swirling balls of energy called chakras -which gets blocked by fear, doubt, danger, pain and anger - and who better to channel this message but none other than the Spice girls.
In conclusion Two Becomes One is a meta-level analysis on dialectic process of both the western and eastern civilisations attempting to understand the nature of the soul.
I will leave you now with these immortal words: “Set your spirit free, it's the only way to be” - Thus spoke the Spice girls
---
In conclusion, two becomes one is a dialectical emergence on the discourse of the nature of the soul that has manifested from the mingling of cultures due to recent years of globalisation.

I found song really spoke to my inner soul. I felt as though “The game” hit piece “Dreams” really delivered a powerful meditation on the resilience of spirit in the face of despair and the triumph of love over death. The metaphor of letting his pen bleed in the chorus was utterly genius, invoking religious symbolism of Christ upon the cross, the holiness of the written word and the fundamental assertion of sacrament in sacrifice for the betterment of the unknown that stretches into the distant darkness of the future.
Truly, the gem in the crown of this is is the quote: “They say sleep is the cousin of death, so my eyes wide open Cause a dream is kin to your last breath” - which could have been written by Shakespeare himself. Yup, I am convinced that The Game is the Homer of the 21st century. What a hero
