Canonically Steve should be able to throw stone buttons about as fast as bullets if you take into consideration how they can toss enchanted golden apples a fair distance in 1.8, they’re theoretically at least as heavy as 9 cubic meters of gold. If you take the required force from being able to toss even one and convert that into throwing a small amount of normal stone... yeah basically Steve should be able to match a 50cal machine gun just by throwing stone, take into account that they can toss a full stack and I’m pretty sure the stone would be going at least mach 1.
