It happens before dinner. “Where are the salad bowls?” — “Here they are, Mom!” He just stands in the kitchen frame grinning his life away. Is that cockiness you see? Or maybe the usual blush when he tries to be competitive but ends up being hopelessly adorable. Before he can regret it, you ask again. “What was that?” — “I dunno? Uh, the bowls, they were in the other shelf today.” Successfully dodged. Shy baby. You’ll tease him about it a little later.
