How To Have A Good Morning - Habits Worth Starting
Wake up early : Running late isn’t cool. Wake up at a reasonable hour so that you have time to get ready,eat a healthy breakfast,exersice etc.
Make your bed : You should start your day by doing something productive. Something that ‘’gets you going’’ . Making your bed is a great option.
Try yoga/meditation : Take some time to reflect and de-stress. You can do this by trying yoga and/or meditation. There are several yoga ‘’flows’’ in pinterest and great meditation apps to try out!
Gratitude Journal : Happiness is about wanting the things that you already have. Take some time of your morning to write down the blessings that you’re grateful for. Learn to count the small wins in life.
Plan / visualize : Write down a simple to-do list with all the tasks that you want to finish that day. Visualize your short or long - term goals. Whether they are monthly or yearly goals. Remind yourself what you are working towards.
Affirmations : It could be just a simple phrase like ‘ I am powerful ‘ or ‘ I am healthy’. Affirmations are those little (or long) phrases of positivity (like mantras ) in present tense that motivate you throughout the day.
Breakfast : I MUST include this to the list.Make yourself a nice breakfast. Don’t have to be big just something healthy. It is the most important meal of the day. Don’t skip it!!
Take care of yourself : Do your hair,put on some comfy clothes that make you confident or out on makeup if you feel like it. Other acts of selfcare can be : taking a shower, having a skincare routine, brushing your teeth.

hey pals!! i haven’t done one of these in a whiiiiile, but i start my spring semester in about two weeks so i figured i would make one about how to prepare for a new semester!

making your schedule
so, hopefully you’ve already decided what classes you’re going to take, and even if you haven’t, i find that there are a few things i like to do before the semester starts so that i’ll be able to make sure i can handle it!!
one thing i learned recently to do is to rate all of my responsibilities (classes, extra-curricular activities, job, etc) out of 5 based on difficulty. so, for instance, my physics class, which has two lectures a week and a lab once a week (a 4-credit course) would, most likely, be a smack-in-the-face 5/5. on the other hand, my PE class (fricken exercise and toning) would be a 0/5 (no out of class assignments, a 50-minute class twice a week).
make sure you’re not taking back to back classes!! please!! it is so stressful feeling like you’re going to be late to a class because another went over by even a few minutes. my school does scheduling so that there’s a ten-minute break between all time slots and that’s still really strenuous for me.
make sure you have enough time to eat, pal. i don’t know how other (read: bigger) schools do it, but my tiny school doesn’t let you take anything out of the dining hall. plus, it’s so much more fun to have time to sit down and talk with your friends – it’s also a really great way to destress in the middle of the day!
don’t overload. seriously. overload at my school is 19 credits and honestly the only reason you should be taking 19 credits a semester is if you’re graduating early (but you should have brought credits in so there would be no need) or you’re at a credit deficit (don’t….do that). so like. don’t overload. it’s really bad for you omg

planning/bullet journaling
using a planner and/or bullet journal is honestly the best thing you can do for yourself. i only use a planner (which works for me enormously because i like to plan according to due dates and the calendars already set up for me work better than anything i could come up with!) but i’ve heard that bullet journals are a great way to keep lists and everything you have to do in one place!
i am currently using a 17-month ban.do planner and i love it to pieces; it’s an easy way to keep all of my assignments in one place. i also keep a separate journals for to-do lists!

setting goals
setting goals for yourself is really, really important if you want to make sure you don’t end up the typical college student: in the library at 3am the day something is due, chugging coffee like your life depends on it and typing so frantically you think your fingers might fall off.
long-term goals may seem scary at first, but if you set short-term goals in order to help you accomplish those long-term goals, it’s easy as pie!
set due dates for yourself, i.e. if you have a big essay due in two weeks, maybe have a first draft done in a week so you have the rest of the time to edit it (and maybe you’ll even finish early?)
setting goals is also important for when you hit that inevitable middle-of-the-semester slump. it happens, and sometimes you can’t get out of bed for your 8 am class, and that’s fine, whatever; but don’t make it a habit. maybe make it a goal to only miss one meeting of each of your courses?? (wink wink)
make a to do + doing + done board (i made one of these last semester and although as the semester went on i had a tough time keeping up with it i found it really helpful!!)
use your bullet journal/planner to help you with these goalsss!
forget how do study?
i know i always forget how to do anything related to school over the month-long break between semesters because i essentially become a couch potato, so here are a few posts with study techniques/resources/etc to help you readjust!!

No to Low Stress College Study Strategy
I started using this study method my 2nd month of college, when I realized that it was better for study-life balance and my emotional wellbeing. It makes me feel productive and alert all day, and gives me plenty of free time to pursue hobbies, clubs, and personal interests. It sounds kind of hardcore at first, but it’s seriously wonderful if you give it a try! Here’s the game plan:
After the first few days of the semester, I sit down with all of the syllabi from all of my classes and write down every single assignment for the rest of the semester into my planner. Include exams, readings, lab report due dates, worksheets, essays, etc. Everything.
Every weekend, I set aside however much time I need to knock out every single assignment for the upcoming week that is possible to do in advance. I do my textbook readings, textbook practice problems, my humanities readings, short essays or write-ups to accompany those humanities readings, etc.
Even though I’m doing more work, I generally spend the same amount of time in the library as my friends who only do their work for Monday over the weekend. This is because if you don’t commit to doing a large number of assignments, you tend to spend a lot more time on minor assignments than is truly necessary - do I really need to spend 3 hours on this 1-page essay for my English class if it’s only graded on a 10 point scale? Couldn’t I finish this in 1 hour and then devote more time to the rest of the readings I need to do for that class this week?
I still have enough time to sleep in, have long lunch breaks, go the gym, go to parties in the evening, etc.
You can do this, no matter your workload. I am a pre-med science major taking 20 credits (max course load) a semester, with two labs, and I can get it done. My roommate is an English major with heavy novel reading assignments and she can get it done. (Disclaimer: this mostly applies to undergraduates.)
Research papers and midterm exam studying generally get their own day separate from homework assignments. I like writing essays in 1 or 2 sittings, but if you like to spread it out just break up the essay into manageable pieces and do it over multiple weekends, or do the pieces between classes (see next bullet point).
After blasting through most of my assignments over the weekend, during the week I generally only have to do busy-work that is assigned at the end of classes and continue studying for midterms that week. I easily finish these assignments in the breaks between classes during the day.
With this strategy, I always complete all of my homework well before dinnertime, and often have days when I don’t have any assignments to do. I use this free time for club meetings, hanging out with friends, going to the gym, marathoning Netflix, pursuing hobbies, working a job, whatever.
I also use this extra time to be able to study for exams much more effectively - when you don’t have busywork assignments floating in the back of your mind, it is much easier to focus. You will study more productively and effectively, and with much less stress. Exams are worth way more of your grade than the homework assignments you blast through each weekend, so it’s best to be able to focus exclusively on them Monday - Friday.
The best part about this strategy is that your workload is heavy on Sunday and sometimes Saturday, but you get to relax Monday - Friday. You basically have a 5 day weekend every week, assuming you enjoy going to class.
If anyone also uses this method, I’d love to hear from you or hear your variants/study suggestions! If anyone tries out this method for 1 or 2 weeks and finds that it works for them, I’d love to hear about it! If you try it and hate it with a fiery burning passion and loathe me for even suggesting it, I’d love to hear about it!

If I'm being honest...
I haven't really felt like myself for a while but I just don't want to accept it yet. I want to believe that everything's fine because I know on the outside everything is fine. I literally have nothing to worry about... so then why the fuck do I feel like this? Just not myself... like I just wanna pretend that I'm always happy because I know for a fact that I'm very privileged and my parents have always taken really good care of me (which btw I'm very grateful for everything in my life and I strive everyday to really appreciate it)... I literally have nothing to complain about but I still just feel so empty. I have never admitted this to anyone and I've never put anything like this on social media and I probably will never again. I just want to scream into the void for once and not care how it will effect me... I'm still not sure I actually want to post this...

"I wish all girls loved to work out like you do."
Today, upon walking into the gym, a trainer jokingly called out to me, “Man, we’re gonna make you take a vacation from coming here!”
I shot back, “Nah dude, I pay my dues here and I’m gonna make it worth my while!”
He kicked back in his chair, looked at me and said, “Now there’s motivation. Why isn’t everyone motivated like that? You’re in here every day, kicking ass.”
I said, “It’s actually my rest day. On my rest days all I do is paddle around in the pool and sit in the sauna until my DOMS are gone.”
He laughed and leaned forward. “It’s your rest day? And you’re still here! You’re fucking serious. Man, I wish my girl was motivated like that. I wish my girl would come work out with me every day. Why isn’t my girl like that?” I forced a grimacing smile and walked away.
I thought about his words through my entire swim and for the rest of my day. It’s true. As a whole, he’s right - the average girl doesn’t show a consistent, deep motivation to kick ass in the gym day after day, month after month, year after year. Apparently that makes him sad. And he doesn’t understand that he’s a tiny individual part of a huge problem.
On a cultural level, women are taught that the only reasons to work out, get in shape, etc. are to “look good” and/or impress others. Women are not taught to prize ability and athletic performance. Women are encouraged to hit the gym to change something they don’t like, but rarely are they encouraged to improve on something they already (should) like. If a woman complains that her thighs are big, she’s told to hit the endless cardio and slim them down, but never to lift weights or run sprints and put those amazing thighs to use!
Women are not urged to set ability-oriented goals. Women are raised to judge “progress” on appearance. Women are systematically taught to “work out and get hot”, but not to train to become healthy and powerful! Therefore, real progress is never truly gained and motivation withers. Body-hate and external motivation does not last. Teaching a woman that she is nothing more than an imperfection to be changed for the viewing pleasure of others is not the way to make her beautiful, healthy, and happy. Help her learn to become strong, fast, and proud - for herself! - and the motivation will last a lifetime.
The fitness industry is fully aware how much money there is to be made in selling “solutions” to those who have been taught they are obligated to change themselves. Media, advertising, nutritionists and dietitians, gyms and trainers - they are all guilty of perpetuating the cycle. When a woman visits a personal trainer the first time, she’s asked what her weight goals are and what she wants to “change about herself”. She’s bombarded and broken down under constant insinuation that she’s not good enough yet but maybe she can be good enough if she puts enough time, effort, and money into changing everything that’s wrong with her. A woman cannot enter a fitness setting without it being assumed that she’s there to “get hot” to attract a mate, or to impress someone else. She’s not conceptually allowed to be there just to feel good, get healthier, or get stronger for herself.
If this society wants to see a generation of women who are truly enthusiastic about fitness - help give women a real reason to train. Stop focusing on subjective appearance things that a woman has been conditioned to feel obligated to hide and change, and instead encourage her to find something she loves, something she wants to accomplish. Instead of “helping” a woman lose her “love handles”, ask her if there’s some physical feat she never thought she’d be able to do, and help her do it! Bros of the gym, if y’all want your ladies to come work out with you, help show her how powerful and proud she can be, instead of keeping her weak and bored with 3lb handweights while you bench 225.
For the human race to meet our true potential of health, strength, and wellbeing - this cycle needs to change on a cultural level. But first, it needs to change on an individual level. This goes out to everyone, every single one of you. Be all YOU can be, never let anyone tell you otherwise, and help encourage others to do the same.
