Whenever something glass breaks around me I get a feeling that I can only describe as a kind of contamination fear where I immediately become afraid that that there's essentially little glass dust everywhere and that I'll never find all the glass bits. This often results in a sort of itching feeling on my hand as I can't stop feeling like there's glass dust all over me and whatnot. I get a similar feeling when I prick my finger on a stick or a log or feel a rough piece of wood.

If you experience this and want to write a character who experiences a similar feeling, it really really sucks! because if you're like me and ended up spending almost thirty minutes trying to work out the best way to describe this feeling and convey that this is a regular irritation for them, you'll probably trick yourself into feeling this sensation along with them!

No real advice i guess, just that trying to write a character who exhibits similar symptoms to you, especially in cases like OCD symptoms can be a real trip! So take breaks!

Extremely fair, I fully caved on the “plot-light” premise like, right away because my autistic ass can’t just have hostile monsters without justification, because in theory monsters are no different than normal animals.

One time I was running a D&D campaign and my players came across a cursed and also dying elephant in the desert.

On the one hand they made some really incredible role play choices and one player made sure its spirit was at rest by taking on its curse for themselves and they all stayed with it until it died. It was an extremely touching and very powerful moment.

On the other hand I can’t stop thinking about how when it did die, the rest of the table decided to harvest its tusks for ivory and bring them on the road to sell them in what was essentially Las Vegas for wizards.

i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping

Okay I know I’m complaining about something that’s not really hurting anyone but for some reason I get irrationally annoyed by internet “movie pitches” that are just “genre” followed by a series of actors(often just celebrities who aren’t actors) the internet likes at the moment slotted into vague roles like “the villain” with no actual explanation of what that means in context

There is literally never any more thought put into it. There is no idea, no structure, barely even character dynamics, just whatever characters we expect to see from the given actors put in a room together and we’re expected to imagine the quips and laughs, the hijinks, the japes and games that they might put on. It’s less inventive stuff than mid 2010s avengers text posts and I mean that.

And okay, I know none of this is particularly justifiable, like I’m whining about lighthearted creative exercises.

But also like, go a step further. Take all those names you’d cast and figure out why you imagine them in the role and create actual characters. Interrogate what about the genre you posit is exciting to you, figure out what aspects fall flat in your opinion and create the story you think we’re all missing out on. Don’t just stop creating before you’ve had an actual idea.

And hell, if you put in a little extra effort and screw around long enough you might accidentally make something that you’re proud of
