fundamentaly embarrassing to show reference pictures to the hairdresser. Like yeah. Hey. Here's a picture of a guy who looks cool. One day I would liketo look cool as well. Can you try to make me look cool. With these paltry ingredients Can you try your very best to alchemize a guy who looks cool right now. In 30 minutes, can you make me into a person. Hey, for twenty five dollars, can you fuck my shit up forever? Could you give me a haircut. Is that too much to ask. Could you cut my hairs

Day Fifty-Seven
Today was a long one. I don't mean that in a bad way. I'm just saying.
I was pretty happy with my Global Studies lesson today, which involved a bit of group research (shared out in a whole class discussion) on some current conflicts between different religious groups, which we linked back to yesterday's assignment on religious extremism. I had students delve deeper into the causes of these conflicts and get at the fact that they're resource wars; religion may be the dividing line, the justification, etc... but a closer look shows that groups are actually fighting over water, land, mineral resources, and so on. Explaining that was the best part of the lesson. We also read an article about religious persecution in various countries, and that went less well because we were short on time, but it's okay.
My APGOV students took a vocab quiz, which most of them smashed, and then got back to work on their projects. A few of the groups finished early, and they were watching goofy videos on their chromebooks, and arguing about the Kardashians. One of them asked me if they were my least productive APGOV class ever, and I said no, but they're definitely my goofiest. They act like I'm doing too much any time I lecture, they put their heads down like they can't go on anymore when they have to read a challenging text, but then they completely understand all of it. They're so quick, and so good, and that actually makes them my most productive.
They're a lot of fun to teach.
I ran a quick department meeting in the afternoon, got feedback on the draft cell phone policy, did some data collection for school counseling, double checked our program of studies work. Dean 1 came by to check in just after we'd adjourned, and we chatted for a few minutes about what teaching social studies is like in this current moment.
I had about an hour and a half to spend at home after that, then I came back to the high school for winter sports sign-ups. The indoor track team is about thirty athletes strong this season, and there are a bunch of newcomers, which is neat. When The Head Coach introduced me, he asked how many years I'd been coaching now, and the kids cheered went I said twenty. That was sweet.
And hey, now it's track season!
