    ‘  last  saw  him  with  link  but  if  i  were  a  betting  man , ‘ eric started , fingers absentmindedly brushing over sol’s , ‘  probably  in  a  tree  somewhere . ‘ it wasn’t something that boomi had necessarily grown out of  .  ‘  we’re  technically  the  enemy .  i  don’t  see  socializing  going  all  that  great . ‘

he smiled , squeezing boomi’s hand gently , leaning against the other slightly . lu may not have known entirely what he was doing or what he was supposed to do but he was trying . he glanced up at the other , “ you’ll have to take the lead — but I want to be with you a lot of the time . ”

luca looked back at the other , tilting his head to the side , his expression softened , “ nothing is obvious to me , boomi … ” he glanced at the tv and then reached out , taking his hand into lu’s own , “ I’m glad . ”

     boomi hummed at that , ‘  my  bad . ‘ he knew he probably should have been a bit more open about how he felt but the idea scared boomi more than he wanted to admit . boomi looked down at their hands for a moment , thumb brushing lu’s skin , ‘  yeah ,  me  too . ‘

“ s’better you dealt with it then , ” sol’s temper had never been the best but it had definitely got that bit worse with each passing year . he leaned over , squeezing eric’s chin , “ ‘cause I would have gutted him like a fish . ”

    amusement touched eric’s features at sol’s words let alone his gesture . ‘  someone’s  gotta  play  good  cop . ‘ granted , eric shot the guy regardless but he wasn’t too sure if he was actually going to put the knife down but at least he would live . ‘  oh  ,  i  know  you  would  have . ‘ and eric wasn’t going to argue against it . he didn’t like to make a habit of telling sol what to do not that he could .

he lifted his brows , lips curving into a small smile , “ you guess ? ” lu placed down his plate and leaned back , pulling up both feet , “ I like you , boomi . ”

      ‘ i  mean ,  i  didn’t  know  where  you  were  going  with  this , ‘ boomi confessed . he opted to put his own plate down before turning to look back at lu . ‘  i   like  you .  thought  it  was  a  little  obvious . ‘ then maybe again , it wasn’t . boomi wasn’t exactly forthcoming with a lot of things but he probably spent more time with lu than anyone else .

lu looked back to boomi when he spoke and grinned , shaking his head and then sighing softly , “ I’m — curious about romance … ” he bit his lower lip , “ are you ? ”

   boomi wasn’t expecting that question and he found himself clearing his throat as he looked back towards lu . ‘  i  mean ... ‘ his voice trailed off as he glanced back towards the movie before putting his attention on lu again . ‘  i  mean  ,  yeah  ,  i  guess .  ‘

he chuckled , looking the other over and pushing his own hair back , “ you gotta be assertive more often , kid , it really gets me goin’ . ”

  amusement touched eric’s features , ‘  yeah ,  i  know . ‘ there was no secret about that when it came to sol . ‘  i  just  didn’t  want  to  kill  him . ‘ time would only tell if that was a good decision but eric didn’t want one man’s death to turn into a slaughter because of high emotions and retaliation .

       he growled when the other dug his nails into his skin , and his orgasm chased eric’s own ; they had a habit of getting carried away from one another but sol never once complained . he pulled back all too quickly , but only to sink into the sofa and pull eric down beside him , his lips quirking into a smile as he tried to slow his heart rate ,  “  good  as  always .  ”

   it seemed gone were the days where the two pulled away from each other , got dressed , and went their separate ways . eric moved with sol , a breath chuckle escaping his lips as he lifted a hand up to brush some of his own hair back . ‘  as  always , ‘ eric repeated , a lazy smile touching the corners of his mouth .

      he grinned , resuming eating as he watched the movie , they’d watched a few things like this before , but lu had never really bothered to pay attention , though now he studied each interaction of the characters carefully . he wondered if eric was sure about boomi’s feelings , but now he was so bothered by his own that it felt like something he had to do .

    the two seemed to fall into a comfortable silence but he seemed to look up after a while , looking between lu and the television . ‘  you  people  watch  characters  too ? ‘ boomi asked , a light smile on his lips before he looked back towards the television . it made sense , boomi guessed , and it wasn’t something that bothered him in the slightest . ‘ or  are  you  really  into  this  movie ? ‘

they’d done an almost 360 in the way that they not only spoke to one another but generally treated one another too . in the beginning , eric was an attractive means to an end , now he valued him for more than that , and this was simply the bonus . he did what the other asked , moving his hips a little faster , burying himself a little deeper as one hand dropped to stroke eric in unison .

he figured he wouldn’t see her till later and head back towards the house he was staying in with eric and the kids . he sat down on the steps on the porch and simply watched as people passed by , knowing he’d be turning in any time soon . cooper surprised him , however , by returning sooner than he thought she would , and surprised him once again with her words . he seemed to just stare for a moment before a hint of a smile touched his features , “ like to see you try , but — “ beta glanced back at the house , “ I won’t do anything . ”

     cooper tilted her head to the side but eventually offered a smile , ‘  didn’t  think  you  would .  just  figured  we  should  all  be  on  the  same  page . ‘ her expression softened somewhat before she took a step back , ‘ come  on .  if  we  go  now  we  can  get  back  before  it  gets  too  dark . ‘

       a faint frown touched lu’s features momentarily , before boomi offered an explanation of his abbreviation . he smiled , leaning back on the sofa and glanced towards his friend , his smile only growing ,  “  I  like  spending  time  with  you , boomi .  ”

    boomi settled in on the couch , tucking into his food before looking towards lu . the words brought about a small smile to his lips . ‘  i  like  spending  time  with  you  too . ‘ boomi didn’t necessarily like a lot of other people . he tolerated most but very few he actually liked let alone connected with like he did with lu .

     lu laughed , nodding his head slowly  ,  “  okay ,  I’ll  tell  him ,  ” he hadn’t really thought he had to before , but maybe it was a social protocol to do so . they carried on , once again falling into a comfortable silence , lu’s mind spiralling somewhat into what would change between him and boomi when he finally fessed up to how he felt about the other .

    a smile touched eric’s lips at lu’s words but he said nothing about it and instead kept moving forward , keeping his eye out for any more walkers . ‘ do  you  miss  it ? ‘ eric asked after a moment , ‘ being  out  here ,  i  mean . ‘

he placed down his plate and moved towards the collection , he looked for a short while before picking one with some couple on the front — perhaps it would help him . lu handed it over and moved back towards his food , watching boomi till the other joined him , “ I am glad to be here .”

   boomi reached out for the movie , ‘  a  rom  com  ,  huh ? ‘ he asked with a raised brow before pausing , ‘  romantic  comedy  .  not  a  bad  choice .  surprising  but  not  bad . ‘ he smiled before moving to put the movie in  , sitting back on the couch when he was done . ‘  i’m  glad  you’re  here . ‘

“ bonuses , ” lu repeated , smiling back at eric . he wasn’t so sure he knew what it meant but he didn’t bother to pick it apart , he would figure it out eventually . they moved still , eric’s words convincing him to look back at the older man , “ I don’t feel pressured , I miss boomi when he isn’t here . ”

    eric chuckled when lu repeated , a grin on his lips as he looked back at the other . ‘ sounds  like  you  have  a  crush  , lu , ‘ eric managed to tease , nudging the other playfully . ‘  then  just  tell  him  how  you  feel .  let  things  happen  naturally  after  that . ‘

“ thanks , ” lu hummed , taking the plate and looking down at it , breathing in , the food smelled good , and that was a very big difference to how life had been outside this community . lu looked back to boomi and nodded enthusiastically , “ I would like that . ”

    ‘  i’m  glad , ‘ boomi hummed , grabbing a plate for himself . he grabbed some food before heading into the living room , motioning towards the movies . ‘ you  can  pick  if  you  want . ‘ it wasn’t an extensive collection but his dad seemed to make it a habit to bring back whatever he found out on runs .

lu’s expression softened , a faint smile touching his lips , “ I don’t know how to — be a couple , ” his brows knitted together , but he figured it wouldn’t hurt to say the words , he didn’t want boomi to ever think that he didn’t want him around .

   ‘  does  anyone ? ‘ eric looked back at lu . ‘  i  guess  it’s  not  much  different  than  being  friends  just ..  with  a  few  added  bonuses . ‘ he offered a smile before shrugging his shoulders , ‘ you  don’t  have  to  say  anything  or  be  a  couple  if  you  don’t  want  to  ,  lu .  i  don’t  want  you  to  think  i’m  pressuring  you  to  make  a  move . ‘
