hi, itâs elle again with muse 2/2 ! i have not proof read this (itâs a mess like my last one) but iâm too excited to introduce my new muse ! i will be messaging people who like this for plots - i canât wait !
â° âââ audra mcdonald. cis female. she/her // you donât know ? thatâs ROSALIND âROSâ HARRISON ! theyâre a FORTY EIGHT year old lawyer from FRESNO, CALIFORNIA. as part of manhattanâs elite, the ace is known to be FORTHRIGHT & DEFENSIVE. most people recognize them by co-ordinating business attire, raised eyebrows in judgement, paintings on the walls of her office & aggressive typing. ( elle, 22, bst, she/her )
car accident tw, internalised homophobia tw, parental death tw,
being the eldest of four siblings, born in fresno, california, rosalind always had a sense of responsibility. a protective individual, she was always attentive to them when her parents couldnât be. responsibility was always weighing on her shoulders and pressure always seemed to be present, whether it was intended or not was another issue.
the harrisons were well-off, grateful for everything that they had but it meant that they would always have people watching them, waiting for them to make an error. her father was the district attorney, a respectable man that seemed to be a little too distant from the family. ros admired him for his devoted work ethic but a part of her wanted to be close to him. her mother was a teacher, incredibly maternal but often underappreciated. there was no lying in her household, just things that were never said and they would all regret it.
she was always a child with big dreams but felt the need to be realistic as she went to school with prodominantly white children in private school and knew opportunities wouldnât be handed to her so easily and that other children would be wary of her. it did hurt her but her mother would always be the one to build her up in these times of crisis. it just made her want success more. while she hated the fact that she would have to work twice as hard, to be the best she could be, she was driven to do just that.
motivated by the need for her fatherâs approval, ros followed in his footsteps and chose to study law. undergraduate at harvard and a graduate degree from yale, her educational resumĂŠ is stellar. she always wanted to do well for both herself and her father and she wouldnât let herself be any less than excellent.
rosalind was sharp, hardworking and that was bound to pay off. she understood the element of perspective and understood it could be used to put a different spin on things; while this interested her professors, it did make her peers groan.
while ros chased down the path of law and academics, her younger siblings decided to pursue arts. previously, she felt a bit short-changed by this after realising that she didnât have to do everything to impress her father and she had devoted her life to doing so. she was her fatherâs daughter, that was indisputable.
ros had always been an idealist but shortly after graduating she realised that she had gone into the wrong vocation for that. she found herself working with defense lawyers and became one herself. it was about playing the law, getting around it in some cases to come out on top. she was hardly able to turn back after she had spent so much time and energy to get where she was today; she had to work very hard to get noticed and there alwas seemed to be an element of a fight thrown into the mix.
with a strong foundation, rosalind knew herself and what she could handle and she wouldnât waiver when it came to her work. she always wanted to be a force to be reckoned with, she just didnât know that her morals would get so blurred as she progressed. there was always a back door into everything but once it was opened, there was no going back.
thinking out of the box was something that came along with experience. rosâ observations allowed her to anticipate what approach the other side would take and she would be there to give a counter argument frequently. some would say that her approaches were unorthodox, different, but that was what won her cases. building up a rapport with a number of influential clients, the woman became established and was awarded the title of junior partner at thirty four years old.
rosalind was in her early twenties when she realised she was homosexual, that she was only ever into women. she had never had a boyfriend, or even been interested - her father even applauded the fact that she was so career focused but the truth was she couldnât bring herself to tell her family. her mother had an incling and was open with her but rosalind neither confirmed nor denied whether it was the case or not, not even to her sisters.
ten years ago, her father was involved in a vehicle collision. a named partner of a very big firm in new york city, it was of no surprise that he left his partnership to ros, giving his savings to her siblings. it was overwhelming for rosalind to say the least. she had lost her father and had newly founded pressure of being a named partner of harrison, jones & associates. it was a lot of responsibility, an opportunity she rose to but with her own hesitations that she couldnât express.
living in her fatherâs penthouse, she made it her own. however, people in the firm were less that pleased; it took her years to gain their respect and not see her as a legacy child that came to take over and implement her own agenda. however, the implementing her own agenda was true. her father very much played by the rules but she was unorthodox in her methods, always wanting to go the extra mile and that brought another dimension to the already established partnership.
she is a respected individual in the industry that wants to provide minorities with that extra support but its difficult to do when youâre one of the youngest partners at one of the biggest law firms in new york city. she has a mission to create opportunities but she will be the first one to admit that she needs to do more in relation to this; she constantly feels like sheâs being inundated with paperwork. ros is afraid that sheâs become a face of the company more than anything so wants to get into working on more cases, particularly pro-bono ones to bring corporate responsibility to the forefront of harrison, jones & associatesâ agenda.
rosalind has started dating but not found anything serious. sheâs scared that sheâs left it too late and will never find anyone. however, sheâs still very much devoted to her partnership (the one her father trusted with her) so always finds the need to perform.
the woman earns a lot of money. sheâs not afraid to voice her opinion and go in a different direction but thatâs just how she is. itâs just a challenge finding a balance between it all. she puts too much pressure on herself, afraid that sheâs lost sight of whatâs important as she throws her weight around the legal sector and she wants to change that.Â
iâm really open to any connections seen as sheâs a new muse: wing people who want to help her find someone, confidants, drinking buddies for when sheâs not working, enemies, old family acquaintances of her father, potential love interests, etc !
