Today the gender and sexuality alliance I co-sponsor did a presentation in the middle school Community Circle. Our members stood in a circle around their classmates and one by one they shared slides they had created about famous LGBTQIA people. Obviously “I’m Coming Out” was playing in the background. The kids were nervous and awkward and so brave. I’m so proud of them. And I’m proud that at my school kids were cheering for these famous LGBTQIA people.
The future is going to be so much better, y’all.

8th grader BP told me she already had a good idea for her play, so I asked her to tell me about it. She said she wants to show people that even though there’s violence on Baltimore’s streets, it’s not all bad and you can still have a family 💜

Synonyms
Today a PK boy was doing show and tell:
Him: This is Joker. He’s a villain.
Me: Cool! What’s another word for “villain” in case some of our friends don’t know that big kid word?
Him: Um...arch-enemy!
Me: Oh wow. I think that’s another big kid word! What is an arch-enemy?
Him: Oh, a bad guy.
And then we all practiced saying the word “villain” because if a 4 year old can walk in knowing synonyms then there’s no reason to be dumbing this stuff down.
