My GGE2025 piece is for @ms-moonlight-inn! The prompt of Shibari but making it funny took me outside of my high-angst comfort zone, and I am hoping you like it! Thank you again to @gallavichthings for hosting and helping me out when the computers glitched! This was a blast, and I cannot wait for the next event!

The kitchen light shone down on their two angels asleep on the floor, surrounded by crushed and whole Oreos, spilled milk, chocolate syrup fingerprints, and two coffee cups still containing traces of what was chocolate milk. One of the boys was missing a sock, and the other had his Nerf gun in hand, ready to attack. The two exchanged a look of confusion. What the hell had happened here tonight?

            They could hear muffled sounds from the living room, where Carl could hopefully shed some light on what they had walked into. Strolling into the living room, it became clear. Carl was tied to a chair with their Shabari ropes and a sock in his mouth.  Ian leaned against the door frame, and Mickey was doubled over in laughter. Carl sat there, pleading with them to help him.

            Ian shook his head as he moved to remove the sock. Mickey could still not contain himself, but Ian shot him a look to quiet him down before he woke up the boys. Mickey took a couple of deep breaths and finally could speak, “The fuck happened here Carl?”

Love love love characters that present themselves as emotionally open social butterflies but the more you see of them the more obvious it is that they’re the most closed off fuckers in the story. Sure, they want to help you with your personal problems and messy emotions, but if you turn that shit back on them, they’ll shut down or deflect every time. Why are you sticking your nose in their business anyway? It’s not like it matters. They’re not a person, they’re just a role being played. They’re the guy who fixes things and saves people. Please ignore the man behind the mask, he’s fine. Everything’s fine.

Where do you live currently and what is it known for geographically?: Northern New England, famous for the old man on the mountain. (He's not there anymore, sadly).

What’s the weirdest or most unusual geography-related trivia you know?: There's a spot around where I live that's called something like, "America's Stonehenge." There's all kinds of cool rock formations & people go there a lot to visit them, but also for equinox festivals. Anyway, the one thing that I find the most fascinating about this place is that it was part of the Underground Railroad at one point. You can see the remnants of the basement where runaway slaves would hide. The funny thing is that this aspect of the areas history is not advertised very much, & I have always suspected it's because they don't want vandals to destroy the property.

How many countries can you name off the top of your head for your own continent?: Ok, the US, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic... damnit, all I can think of now are territories.

Where is the antipode of your birthplace? What would it be like if you were randomly dropped there?: The direct, exact opposite of where I was born would be New York City.

My living room couch. Work tomorrow, and I spent the day doing food prep for the week, so I'll just chillin' out.

Age:

40s. I was starting to feel old, but then I read a Reddit post written by a 71 year-old fic fan; guess I'm not that old after all.

Are you sick right now with a cold, flu or other non-life-threatening but deeply obnoxious illness:

Not sick right now, but I had a fucked up migraine yesterday that stalled me out for most of the day. I think the worst part of migraines is the migraine hangover afterwards.

When you’re sick are you a get-up-and-just-work-through-it kinda person or a lie-in-bed-and-moan-loudly-and-not-move kinda person?

I've got a stupidly good immune system, so I don't get sick often. BUT, when I do get sick, it usually knocks me on my ass. Like, I get super tired & have to lie down. My family always tries to offer me stuff, but all I need is sleep & rest, so I'm not usually a fussy sick person. Of course, I don't stay sick for very long. I think the last time I got actually-really sick was last summer & it lasted 3 days total. I was only really bad for two of those days. Ok, so that was a very long-winded was of saying that I don't get sick, I get tired & I'm not an annoying sick person.

What’s your ultimate comfort drink when you’re under the weather:

Water & hot tea.

Are there any superstitions or things you do that you believe will make you get better faster?

Ugh, coming from a very traditional family, I've got many superstitions. Add to that, I worked at a health food store. Lol. Yeah, that's a lot to unpack. 😅 I don't follow any of my old superstitions anymore; how I, it's fun as fuck to remember them. One of them had to do with the weather –apparently, going out in certain weather makes you sick.

Do you take vitamin C or any other herbal remedies or do you think that’s all non-scientific nonsense?

Always vitamin C. Sometimes echinacea. Always herbal teas.

When you were young and got to stay home from school what was your favourite show to watch (or thing to do whatever)?

Oof, let's see. I used to watch all the game shows. Price is Right. Card Sharks. Press Your Luck. Wheel of Fortune. Plus, all the scandalous talk shows! Also, I would try to watch soap operas, but they never held my interest.

Is there a secret favourite part you have to being sick?

Oh, it's not a secret, I LOVE the part of being sick that lets me stay in bed for a day. It's boring & indulgent & I love it. As part of my nature, I don't often get the chance to just be lazy. Getting sick is the ultimate permission.

Who do you think would be the worst patient? Ian or Mickey?

Hmm, I really think it depends on the situation. If it's a terminal illness, I think it doesn't matter which one is ill. In this scenario, they'd both be strong so the other would have less to stress out about.

If it's a common cold or flu, I think Mickey would be the worst patient ever. He'd fight admitting he's sick until the very bitter end. And even then, he'd only let Ian tend to him after many threats & ultimatums.

In the case of a chronic but non-lethal illness, like autoimmune issues or diabetes, Ian would totally be the worst patient. He'd claim that he had everything under control & that he's doing all the "right things" to keep himself healthy. That is until he goes for a check up, which Mickey insists on attending, and the lab results show that he's not doing enough to stay healthy. Of fucking course, the ride back home is FULL of dirty looks and snide comments from Mickey. 😂🤣 Eventually, Ian gives in & promises to let Mickey help him stay healthy.

Ian’s always been used to the cold. He knows it like the back of his hand, which is why he finds himself at home on the ice skating rink. Figure skating means being surrounded by a kind of cold he doesn’t have to shut out or run away from — a kind of cold he can make his own. When he runs into Mickey on the way to work in Boystown, he doesn’t expect them to have much in common, even when he realises Mickey has been watching him skate from afar for years. But Mickey sees the rink as an escape and a second home just like he does, a way to cover up the bruises left behind by his family with ones left by clumsy teammates and aggressive opponents. They quickly find themselves intertwined, what was meant to be a fun hook-up snowballing into something warmer and safer.

Location: In my office, contemplating my life choices.

Do you currently have any pets? Yes! We can't have dogs or cats anymore bc of wifey's allergies, SO we got two guinea pigs now. They're literally potatoes with legs. 🥺

If you do, how many and what kind? We've got two guinea pigs. I don't know guinea pig breeds very well, but I believe that both my boys are American breed. They're adorable AF.

If you don’t, why not? (I do). See above.

Did you have a lot of pets growing up? Yes! My sister & I had several parakeets (budgies). And as a teenager, I had my favorite cat –a big Russian Blue. He was gifted to me by an ex-boyfriend for my birthday.

How do you pick names for your pets? I don't remember the names for any of the parakeets, my first cat was named after a dumb joke. My guinea pigs were named after mathematicians bc my son is a math & science kid.

Favourite pet you’ve ever had? So, my big boy Russian Blue was my favorite pet. But Chuy, the cat. He was extra special. 🥰 He was my heart pet. He was hit by a car when he was 2-years-old & survived long enough for us to find him and help him pass comfortably. To this day, I still carry him in my heart.

If you could pick any animal that has ever existed to have as a pet, what would it be? A sloth! 🦥 Specifically, one of the big three-sided sloths.

And finally, of the actually realistic animals to have as pets… which one would you most like that you’ve never had? I would love to have a cat again. Damn allergies.
