Buckle up kids, it’s going to be a bumpy dictatorship

Trump has been president for literally 4 days and he’s already settling us into our new authoritarian regime. A few updates in case anyone hadn’t been keeping up:

At least twice now he or a member of his staff have made completely false claims that have been proven wrong already and offered no evidence to support what they were saying, then refused to take questions about it

Kellyanne Conway called their lies “alternative facts”

Trump has decided that he will choose which members of the press are allowed at his press conferences

He pulled a full Kim Jong-un and made his inauguration day a holiday (of patriotic devotion, as though 4th of July doesn’t exist ????)

He’s passed 6 executive orders so far and has stated his plan to add at least 2 more in the coming days which, among other things, will strip away healthcare from people, restart construction on the Keystone Pipeline and the DAPL, restrict foreign aid to anywhere abortions might be done, put a stop on refugees from Muslim countries entering the United States, and start building the Wall™

And if that weren’t all scary enough, at least six journalists are facing felony charges, 10 years in prison, and $25,000 fines for reporting on the unrest surrounding his inauguration. Felony charges. For covering an event he didn’t like.

I’m sure there’s more but holy fuck this is getting terrifying.

The Badlands National Park Twitter has been tweeting in open defiance of the administration’s gag order today, though most of them have been deleted.

This one is extra special. I’m sure it won’t last.

As my friend put it, to sum up:

A finance secretary that “forgot” to disclose $100 million. An education secretary that doesn’t understand the basic debates over how to teach our children, thinks the IDEA needs to be looked at and is a matter better left to the states, won’t agree to uphold the 2011 guidance on campus sexual assault, and has zero experience with public education (unless you count trying to take money away from public schools). An energy secretary that thought his job was to represent oil interests. A state secretary who was picked to actually represent American oil interests. An EPA admin who wrote a letter under his AG nameplate that was composed by an energy corp. An HHS secretary that invested in health stocks and then introduced bills that benefited those companies. A senior advisor who is a clear white supremacist. An attorney general who was denied as a federal judge because a republican senate deemed him too racist. A HUD secretary who is Ben Carson. A president who nominated these clowns. And a republican senate that is so wicked, corrupt, and cowardly that every single one of these nominees will be confirmed. An OMB director who “forgot” to pay $15,000 in taxes on his household employees. An agriculture secretary who prayed for rain to end a drought.

Awesome.

Cool cool cool cool great idea great idea great idea “his own intelligence community” hmmm maybe something like…..something like the police, except nobody knows about them?? Maybe like a state…police, working for the state – the state being synonymous with Donald Trump, obviously – but it’s……….secret??? A secret state police?????? Honestly…It makes me really uncomfortable when people draw Leia’s Episode 4 Dress as being really tight with a big slit up the leg, because that’s not how it was at all??

It doesn’t even cling to her breasts or anything?? There’s like…a Small knee length slit, I guess, if you look hard enough. But this, and most other outfits of Leia’s, strike me as incredibly modest and professional. In fact, Lets take a look at that for a second. 

Look at what she chooses to wear on Cloud City in Episode 5.

Like…It’s a dress with pants? And I think this was probably an outfit she either A.) Packed for the trip on the falcon or B.) Was provided to her by Lando, And I find it hard to believe that Lando would force an outfit on her, considering he was very nice to her in previous scenes. She would have chosen it out of several different options.

I won’t add pictures, but her White Hoth outfit also consists of a jacket and pants. It’s sensible. They’re in the freezing cold. Why would she wear something sexy. She Wouldn’t.

There are honestly only two instances over the course of three movies where she /kind/ of shows skin. Instance 1 is at the end of Episode 1 where she…Kind of, I guess, Has some cleavage showing?

Like Barely. Keep in mind as well that this dress is floor length and has long sleeves. The second instance is at the end of Episode 6 on Endor

This slit is definitely more revealing, but to be honest, I can’t remember a single time in Episode 6 where it was apparent? They Honestly may have just done this for promotional material? Other pictures of the dress come off as much more modest

I’ve worn dresses shorter than this, so, I wouldn’t exactly consider this revealing by any means.

So when does Leia put on something a little sexier? There’s gotta be one instance right?

What I’m getting at here is that I hate the weird sexualization of Leia in Nerd Culture. It’s literally so rampant. It’s not surprising to me whatsoever, but it still makes me mad.

Leia Organa, a 19 year old Freedom Fighter personally fucking chose to dress modestly and people still depict her as this oversexualized Male Gaze Fantasy Being and it’s really disappointing tbfh.
