Three years ago John and I donned matching pinstripe skinny jeans and made our way to our next door neighbors house for a party. I had decided much earlier in that night that I was probably just going to sit it out, that I'm usually better off staying at home; I was very wrong, I'm usually wrong about that kind of stuff. That night I met Riley and several other people who have been extraordinarily important in my life, people that have undoubtedly made me who I am today, people who I wouldn't want to imagine my life without. Also, people who know how to put up with my shit, my illnesses, my drunk texts, my drunk everything, etc... Somehow It's only been three years. It feels like I've known these people forever. 26 days, 27 states, 7,800 miles. Wake up in some hotel in some city in some state I’ve never been to, and don’t remember the name of. Load in, soundcheck, sit down, line check, load out, drive till 3 am. I didn’t do a whole lot of anything on tour, but it felt good to not be at my desk. My body’s restless now; my bones hurt and I’ve been sick for three weeks. I wouldn’t trade those feelings in for anything; I’ve earned them. Thanks to The Summer Set and all the other bands and crew for an awesome month. Traveling the United States in a van was probably the least responsible decision I’ve made this year, but I don’t regret it one bit.
