Oh hi. It's me again, the squid biologist on a mission to make it easier for people to connect with science. I run a small nonprofit called Skype a Scientist! We match scientists with classrooms, scout troops, robotics clubs, libraries, and more for virtual Q&As about science. We serve 4000-5000 classrooms every year! We offer this FOR FREE. We also run the tumblr-coded Squid Facts Hotline.

To support our program in 2025, we're selling FROG FACTS advent calendars. Every day you can scratch-off the sparkles to reveal facts about frogs! Please buy one! They're cute and fun and help me give science education away for free.

I unfortunately haven't gotten any grants to support our program for 2025, BUT!! these advent calendars are helping us keep the lights on! If you already bought one, THANK YOU! Has anything actually gotten better, for all the work you talk about doing? Or is it just treading water in misery forever?

Anon, ten years ago gay people couldn't get married in large parts of the US. AIDS was an almost certain death sentence when I was in high school. I was looking at job boards the other day and found a part time gas station job that had health insurance as a benefit, which NEVER would have happened 15 years ago. When I was a kid, hitting your child was extremely normalized in the US and my parents were the weird ones for not doing it. There is a vaccine for chicken pox. I didn't meet anyone who had transitioned until my 20s because it was so uncommon to transition in the aughts, and now there are some states that protect your right to have gender affirming care provided by your health insurance. It's not all states, but it's better than the number of states that had it in 2010, which was zero. THERE ARE TENANTS UNIONS NOW. WE HAVE A VACCINE AGAINST CERVICAL CANCER.

And all of that has been the work of a lot of individuals and organizations and research teams and activists.

Stop Project 2025 | American Civil Liberties Union

Everyone! If you are over the age of 18 and you live in the US please Go to this site and sign this petition. Please! Our entire way of life can be destroyed if we don't do something now. If there isn't a recount or a revote by the end of December then we are all screwed when Trump gets in office. Regardless if project 2025 is real or just was a fear mongering, there is literally a chance that this is real and everything we know might be gone next year. So please. Go sign the petition, so if things go down hill we at least have a fighting chance to at least put up a fight! Please! Sign like you have a gay friend, coworker or family member! Sign if you have a trans friend , coworker or family member! Sign if you have a friend, coworker or family member who is a person of color! Sign if you have a friend, coworker or family member who is a immigrant! Sign if you have female friends , co workers or family members! Every signature counts! Please. There is currently only 56,811 signatures right now. We need at least 75,000 for this to have a fighting chance to stop this! So please go sign like your life depends on it. Please don't take a chance of project 2025 happening. Regardless if it doesn't happen. Isn't it better to be safer than sorry? Do you really want to take the risk? Please.

PS. Banning Fanfic sites are part of project 2025's agenda too. Just adding that regardless if it's at the bottom of the list of things we should be worried about.

Alrighty it’s been over a year, time for some more hetalia headcannons! Specifically Aph america!

Romano will ask Alfred to pose for sketches or sculpture knowing that alfred will hold still if he can keep home entertained. Not that easy of a feat but then again not everyone can do contortionist poses and Romano wants to experiment with depicting things that even in real life seem off as realsistic

kugel mugel takes fiddle lessons from alfred. Austria specializes more in piano and is very busy/ not really available. Kugel doesn’t really know how to interact with others so instead he discovered alfred playing one day,with lots of expression so obvious kugel could understand easily, and approached alfred. Maybe it’s because he was childish, overexpressive and blunt, but kugel got along with him and decided to ask for lessons on not only how to play the fiddle, but be so expressive when playing music.

( also alfred can’t sing so I made him play an instrument that allows home to move around and express because he is an ADHD king, and is very popular in America)

when spending time with Peter/ seal and they will brainstorm project and ideas together, some alfred may even present and tell Peter how it’s went. They also creat bluprinys together and new projects to spend time on. Often times Peter will seek the help or the nordics for his parts, but they are happy to help and are pleased alfred has encouraged this creative energy with their child and his little bro. Also they are rather impressed with his engineering skills until Norway quickly points out that he led the Industrial Revolution, of course he’s good at this. They are still impressed it just makes more sense.

the gist of it is that alfred likes to lend help wherever he can, especially to family and freinds. This can make his life very hectic and busy but he enjoys spending time with people and trying new things!
