I missed National Pet Day the other day (better late than never). Here’s to you Boston, Buffy, Rally, Ziggy, and Doughie (and to my mom’s pets: Kona, Caesar, Rosebud, Maui, and Kihei). Thanks for all the memories Derby, Skippy, Punky, “Fat Cat”, Mr. Kitty, Frankie, Crumpet, and Molly. Every one of you have made a huge impact on my life and I hope I have/did make your lives brighter too. Enjoy 10 random pictures of the pets I currently have living with me. #pets #ratpack

“Day” trip to Smoky Mountains National Park part 5: Clingman’s Dome is absolutely the best place to watch the sunset (as long as it isn’t cloudy). It got colder than I expected but we stayed until the bitter end. We hung out in the parking lot for a bit and got some long exposures of the stars and then went into town to get some food before we left. We left the restaurant around 11PM and headed home. Jerry did most of the driving (thanks again Jerry) but I did switch off at the end as much as I could. We were both incredibly exhausted and had to take quick naps at a couple of gas stations but we made it home around 6:30 AM. Our trip started at 2 AM 3/31/18 and ended at 6:30 AM on 4/1/18. (at Great Smoky Mountains National Park)

“Day” trip to Smoky Mountains National Park part 4: Newfound Gap wasn’t giving us the view we were wanting for the sunset so we quickly went out to search for a better spot since we were losing light fast. Before we started the trip, we discovered that the road to Clingman’s Dome wasn’t scheduled to open until the day after our trip (4/1/18). During our lunch earlier in the day, I tried to see if park had posted anything about opening the road early due to the nice weather. Since I hadn’t found any evidence that would suggest this, we didn’t plan to even check the road since we had such limited time. However, as we searched for a better vista point, we discovered the road did open early! We were extremely excited since Clingman’s Dome is the highest point of the state with a 360 degree view. To be honest, we couldn’t have asked for a better day for our trip... (more to follow) (at Great Smoky Mountains National Park)

“Day” trip to Smoky Mountains National Park part 3: We underestimated how difficult the Chimney Tops trail was going to be so, after our hike, we headed into Gatlinburg to refuel the car and our stomachs. We stopped along the way to admire some of the scenery and I realized that something I always forget to document is how scenic the drive throughout the park is (next post). I especially love seeing the large creeks that follow the roadways. After we refueled, we headed to Newfound Gap (towards the end of this photoset) to try to watch the sunset. Since this trip was supposed to act as a photography exercise with our DSLR cameras (before our trip to the NPs in Colorado), we wanted to try to get photos of the sunset, and possibly some shots of the stars... “Day” trip to Smoky Mountain National Park part 2: We started with a hike on Chimney Tops trail. It was a pretty difficult hike (I think we ended up hiking a total of 4 miles total there) but had some very rewarding views. The damage from last year’s fires were still very visible. More to come. “Day” trip to Smoky Mountain National Park part 1: Jerry is renting an expensive camera lens so he wanted to test it out at one of the most scenic places somewhat close to us. We left home at 2 AM and arrived around 10 AM. Hit some heavy fog as we got into Tennessee. Once we got close, we grabbed a bite to eat at Flapjack’s and headed to the park. The scenery out here will always be breathtaking to me. More to come. (at Great Smoky Mountains National Park)

My buddy, Jerry, shared some exciting news with me! He’s much too humble to share it himself but his picture of a bald eagle made it onto the cover of the National Geographic! Congrats Jerry! #eagle #natgeo #awardwinningphotography

Lexington was a blast. Met a lot of awesome artists, made some new connections, and saw friends we’ve made at previous shows. I even got to bond with someone over old Sonic comics and OCs (@heypizzaking -sorry to call you out) at a sweet live art show put on by @justin3000stewart . Here are some pictures of most of our haul (artists tagged with their art, except Rusty Shackles who did the JSRF print. I couldn’t find his IG), some great cosplay, and how we felt when we had to leave and drive through a nasty snow storm. #lexington #lctc #lctc2018 #lexingtontoyandcomiccon #MACHOMAN #sweettooth #theroom #cosplay (at Lexington Comic & Toy Con)
