Wonderful Key

I keyed the green screen footage over the weekend and really liked how easy the key for the shots done in the greenscreen were, perfect lighting on my part.

Green Screen Filming

Had a whole day of filming today in the green screen and in the music room for drumming shots. Wish we could’ve taken out the drum kit to film it in the greenscreen but had to make alternate arrangements.

Cutting it a bit fine now

After having no response to the first post I have shared it again and luckily I got responses this time.

I’ve now arranged to film in the green screen

Needing replacement stand ins

As the band can’t come to film we are having to use other guitarists and drumist as stand ins for the shots we want. We will then hopefully replace their face with either a mask or some other way.

Our Song Choice

When in contact with Davey on Facebook he said we could do any of their songs and he’d provide the copyright free version of it for us. We have decided to do the song Loner Boogie as it was the most catchy out of them all.

More band issues

Coming up to deadline day for Advanced Compositing and Cassie luckily bumped into the main band member in uni and managed to talk it through with him, to which I was then given the all clear to message him on facebook. But now they’ve decided to not be in it which ruins our idea as we wanted shots of them in the greenscreen. So now as well as the stress for advanced compositing we now have to stress about what we’re doing for the music video even though we had a plan.

Band/Song Research

Whilst we wait for the band to respond as we’ve been told they want one they’re just taking their time to respond, so we are looking into the band and what songs they have.

They haven’t long released their new album 1, 2, Kung Fu so we’re looking into doing one of these songs

So to decide what song we’re doing we’re constantly listening to the album on spotify to see which one we like more and do the most with.

Lack of contact

After nagging and nagging and trying to get into contact with the band myself we’re still not advancing and we want to film before advanced compositing ends so we don’t have to rush around the last two weeks before hand in.

Deciding on a band

Not knowing anyone in a band we decided to have a talk with Kris Francis, who said prior to the project that he knew of people interested in having a music video made. After talking with him he suggested a band of ex students Boy Azooga. So we’ve been put in contact with Alun Tomos (Music Lecturer) to try and see if he can get in contact with them.

Research and Inspiration

We decided to look at music videos we liked certain aspects of

In this we liked the use of the drawn over stills effect where people hand drew over the sequence stills

I liked the transitions on this music video and would like to explore doing this

The way this was filmed looks good and would be good to implement into ours

The dance shots in this seem quirky

Trying to get a band and initial inspiration

Before we got to carried away with ideas we needed to make sure we had an idea of what sort of band we can actually get first. Cassie wants to do an alternative band with a song that has a storyline behind it to do some cinematography shots sort of like Paul, Joe, Mario and Sam from the third year did for their music project.
