The cemetery was established in 1882 and the Mortuary was establish in 1959. The Mausoleum was purchased and became part of the property in 1971. Colonel Jabez Banbury’s son, Charles, and others like Laura Giddings, were buried on land that lay along the Arroyo Seco, now part of the Wrigley Estate. As was the custom in frontier days, residents of Pasadena buried their loved ones on family property. Colonel Banbury decided to sell his property in 1882, which prompted Mr. Giddings to set aside some of his own property to be dedicated as a cemetery.MTN View tradition of service was established in the nineteenth century, yet offers the full personalized service made available by today’s technology.

Born in Illinois in 1878, Bryan began building mausoleums in 1912, after spending a year working for Frank Lloyd Wright,considered one of the most famous architects in American history. It’s long corridors, arched ceilings, marble surfaces, and intricate stained-glass windows spill rainbows of light onto the walls and floors. This magnificent mausoleum is as much a work of art as it is a historic resting place. Today, after more than 100 years, the descendants of Levi W. Giddings still operate the cemetery, mortuary, and crematory.
