Multi-media TUMBLR Blog Summary
In my blog journey, I explored the captivating world of multiculturalism through film, television, and the inspiring figure of Jose Antonio Vargas. The TV show "Black-ish" on ABC celebrated diversity, portraying an African-American family navigating cultural identity and traditions in a predominantly white neighborhood. The film "Black Panther" which was about an African superhero is highlighting the importance of representation and celebrating African culture on a global stage. In terms of how these media relate to the course material, they all address the concepts of power, representation, privilege, and difference. For example, Black-ish explores the ways in which power is distributed in a multicultural society, and Black Panther examines the representation of Black people in popular culture. These media also challenge our notions of privilege and difference, and they encourage us to think about the ways in which our own identities shape our experiences. They also kind of challenged my notions of these concepts, and they encouraged me to think about the ways in which my own identities could shape my experiences. I believe that these media are important resources for anyone who is interested in learning more about multiculturalism in America. And to me they are all well-made and thought-provoking, and they offer a variety of perspectives on these complex issues. Embracing multiculturalism allows us to be more empathetic and understanding, leading to a better world where everyone feels welcomed and valued. Art wasn't my thing at first. I thought it was all about creativity and self-expression, and I didn't see how that could be related to my work. But now that I've learned more about art and multiculturalism, I've come to realize that it's also about problem-solving and communication. Here are some stuff I would recommend watching
"Parasite" - A South Korean film that won multiple Oscars, exploring social class and cultural dynamics with a gripping storyline.

Jose Antonio Vargas
I decided to talk about Jose Antonio Vargas because when when we think about people who are promoting multiculturalism we think about people like Martin Luther King. While he is significant, I wanted to bring something different to the conversation. Jose Antonio Vargas, has been a significant influence in peoples life. His work as a journalist and immigration rights activist has shed light on the complexities of multiculturalism in America. Watching interviews and reading his articles with my family sparked crucial conversations about immigration, identity, and belonging. Post (Television):
"Black-ish" (2014- ), ABC
"Black-ish" is an American television sitcom that premiered on ABC on September 24, 2014. The show was created by Kenya Barris and is produced by Khalabo Ink Society, Wilmore Films, Cinema Gypsy Productions, and Artists First. As of my last update in September 2021, the series was still ongoing.
The show revolves around an African-American upper-middle-class family living in a predominantly white neighborhood. It stars Anthony Anderson as Andre "Dre" Johnson Sr., the patriarch of the family, and Tracee Ellis Ross as Rainbow "Bow" Johnson, Dre's wife. The couple has four children: Zoey, Andre Jr. "Junior," Diane, and Jack.
The show's success led to several spin-offs, including "Grown-ish," which follows the college life of Zoey Johnson, the eldest daughter, and "Mixed-ish," which explores the upbringing of Rainbow Johnson in a mixed-race family during the 1980s.

"Black-ish" received numerous award nominations and accolades, with both Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross earning critical praise for their performances. The series has been lauded for its ability to engage in relevant discussions about race and culture while entertaining its audience with relatable family dynamics and humor. Through humor and relatable stories, "Black-ish" promotes unity and understanding among people from various cultural backgrounds. They talk about race and what it means to be from a certain background, but they do it in a way that's not too complicated. It's easy to follow along and understand.
The family learns from others and grows by listening to their stories. There are funny and silly parts in the show that make you laugh. But at the same time, it teaches you to respect and appreciate people who are different from you. It's a show that makes you feel good about embracing different cultures and being kind to everyone. I used to watch "Black-ish" with my parents. We all enjoyed it and laughed a lot. One time, in an episode, the dad, Dre, had some old-fashioned ideas about women. It made us talk about treating everyone fairly, no matter their gender. We had a good time watching the show and learning important lessons from it.
In conclusion, "Black-ish" is more than just a TV show; it's a celebration of diversity and a reminder of the importance of embracing one another's differences. It encourages us to learn from each other's perspectives and grow as individuals and as a society. This wonderful show reminds us that through laughter and meaningful discussions, we can build a more inclusive and compassionate world.

Blog film
I have chosen to discuss Black Panther because it aligns with the concept of multiculturalism and holds the distinction of being the first superhero movie featuring a black protagonist. Black Panther is a great superhero movie that came out in 2018. It was directed by Ryan Coogler and had a big impact on movies and popular culture. The film shows us the African country called Wakanda and introduced us to T'Challa, the main character also known as the Black Panther, who protects his people. Black Panther went beyond just being a superhero movie and had important messages about representation, identity, and doing the right thing.
Black Panther did something special by showing African culture in a positive way. Usually, movies about Africa focus on poverty and sadness, but here we are more likely shown a different side. Wakanda was a place full of advanced technology and proud traditions. The movie broke stereotypes and showed that African culture is diverse and strong. One of the best things about Black Panther is that it celebrated diversity. The cast was mostly made up of black actors and actresses, and the movie had powerful women characters. It showed different kinds of black people and proved that black stories matter. Black Panther taught us that everyone deserves to be represented and included in movies.
Black Panther became more than just a movie. It became a big part of our culture. People from all over the world, especially black communities, felt inspired and empowered by seeing themselves on the big screen as superheroes. Black Panther showed us the importance of diverse stories and how they can make a difference. It also talked about important issues in our society. The movie explored topics like colonialism, identity, and how privileged countries should use their power responsibly. It made us think about history and the inequality that still exists today. Black Panther showed us that superhero movies can be about more than just fun they can make us think and talk about important things. The movie reminds us that we should treat everyone with respect, no matter where they come from or what they look like. It's also a great lesson for kids to understand that we are all part of a big, world with different cultures and that we should appreciate and learn from each other. To my opinion Black Panther is not just a superhero movie it's a celebration of multiculturalism, unity, and the strength that comes from embracing diversity. It teaches us that when we come together and appreciate our differences, we can create a better and more inclusive world. But Sadly, Black Panther hasn't been the same since the main character passed away because people loved him and looked up to him.
My favorite scene was 聽'M'Baku vs. T'Challa'聽 fight In the fight to become the king in Black Panther, it's super intense! The challengers face off in a special place called the Warrior Falls. They have to show their strength and skills in front of everyone. The scene is full of excitement, with amazing stunts and cool special effects. It's like a big showdown, and you can't help but feel the energy and suspense as they battle for the crown.

It would be really cool if the MCU explored more fights like the one in Black Panther. T'Challa showed us that tactics and strategy can be just as important as raw strength.
