Shaking the Industry
-> Hall of Fame by Stray Kids
Carlos x Driver!Reader.
Not my normal muse, this Carlos x reader is inspired solely by the fact that my bestie will not shut up about him. You would not believe the amount of edits I’ve seen of him. Thank you for your time.
Carlos would watch the new driver. The one that moved into Ferrari alongside Charles in his place. It was never her fault how the team went about it. He had a hard time disliking her for it.
She had talent. Titles in both NASCAR and Indycar, already made her first win in F1 and had plans to win Le Mans and become the second person and only woman to take the Motorsport triple crown.
He had snuck into the Ferrari garage, attempting to visit Charles.
Her loud American accent gave him pause.
Carlos leaned against the garage wall, out of the way from the young woman and her mechanic.
“I know what I felt,” she waved her hands towards the car, “check it. Something’s wrong with the suspension, I felt it on the damn sausage kerbs.”
The mechanic just shook his head.
“Just check it,” Carlos spoke up, not moving from his spot, “she knows cars, does she not?”
The mechanic shuffled over towards the car, head down, grumbling under his breath in Italian.
Y/n pulled up a chair next to the wall Carlos had leaned against, “what’re you here for?” She asked.
“Charles.”
She nodded, a playful roll of her eyes, “ah, not here for me?”
Carlos laughed. Y/n watched. Her eyes gathered his features in the short moment it took to wander across his face and meet back up with his eyes.
“Not today,” he said, “maybe soon.”
Her mouth opened a couple times, nothing coming to mind. Witty banter ended as quick as she tried starting it. She did all she could to squeeze out a strained “well,” through a thicker southern accent that only came through when she was in media obligations or driving.
With a hand on her shoulder, Carlos had wandered off to find Charles. She sat, mouth open in the slightest bit of shock. Some bewilderment, maybe.
She was pulled back from that out of body experience by the nearby mechanics Italian laugh. Which she mimicked before standing and leaving the garage as well.
Practice had been long since finished, after all. She’d have to hunt down a good night’s sleep for the next day. Hopefully with a better car waiting for her.

Ducks
->Ducks
Pato and Reader feed some ducks at a duck pond on a break
Pato had brought bread.
He and y/n sat cross-legged on the side of a little duck pond somewhere near the Milwaukee Mile. No one around save for a mom group walking around the park.
“You aren’t supposed to give them bread,” y/n said, grabbing the bread from him.
Before they had gone out, while Pato was still in qualifying, y/n had picked up some bird seed.
She opened the bag, Pato leaned towards her waiting for his share. Ducks wandered towards them, just a family. Two adults and some babies.
She tossed a handful in their direction as Pato fumbled for a handful of the bird seed.
“How much time do you have?”
“About an hour”
Y/n nodded.
She had gotten over feeding the ducks herself, just laid her head on his shoulder as he entertained himself with the ducks.
“Y’know, I follow this guy on Instagram,” y/n picks her head up to look at him , “he has a duck and he takes her to different drive through for ice. It’s so cute.”
He paused for a second to look at her, “I think I know who you’re talking about,” he said, laughing.
She laid her head back on his shoulder, “if I was a duck would you do that for me?”
Pato nodded, not a second thought, “of course, I’d get the frozen fruits to put in your water, too.”
The two laughed. They settled into a comfortable silence that ate through the hour they had of downtime, before Pato would be needed with his team again.
The drive back was quiet enough, idle chatter about ducks. Should they get one. How would they take care of one.
“I don’t think I’m ready to parent a duck on my own though,” y/n said, “you’re on the road so much.”
“And your cat would terrorize him.”
Y/n nodded, “He’s so mean, he got out the other day and by the time I got him back in he killed a snake,” she said, waving her hands around.
They pulled into a parking space, exchanged “love yous” before heading their separate ways in a hurry.

You start to Freeze
->Thriller, by Michael Jackson
Pato and Reader watch a horror movie that shakes the both of them.
Credits roll. They’re silent, matching the blank expressions that y/n and Pato share.
“What’d you think?”
Pato shook his head, “great. Yeah, loved it, the way the guy and the hook, and the car door. Yeah.”
She nodded.
The two fell into an uncomfortable silence. Sat on their hands like a couple in middle school during a first date to the movies. They didn’t look at each other, both hiding a grimace.
“Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh” she said, finally, out loud. Her voice cut into that uncomfortable atmosphere. The kind of atmosphere you have to take a shower to get out of “You hated it,” she added.
He nodded. “Why did I let you talk me into that?”
She shook her head, “my sister compared it to Scream, I was thinking slasher movie.”
“But we got, that.”
The movie avoided being gratuitous with its’ gore, but something underlying made them nauseous watching it. Y/n would always say she had a strong stomach for horror. Pato wouldn’t, but he’d always go along with whatever she had in mind.
He didn’t sleep for a week after Coraline, but that was a different level.
She grabbed his hand, pulling him out of thinking about the movie they just finished. “Wanna watch Cars?”
Pato nodded and pulled her over close to him. She pulled her blanket along with her to let it drape over both of them. They settled in with the more lighthearted Pixar movie.
They made it half way through before they fell asleep on the couch. Atleast together they had a little bit more comfort. Pato held onto y/n, even in his sleep.

You and I
-> Teenage Dream by Katy Perry
Sting Ray and reader falling asleep in the back of a cramped Mini Cooper.
Usually y/n would drive herself and Sting Ray around. After her car’s broken down though, they took an Uber. Packed into the back seat of a Mini Cooper, practically in each others’ laps.
The driver seemed nice enough, young girl with big circle framed glasses and a hello kitty claw clip. A Katy Perry playlist was quiet in the car, Teenage Dream specifically.
Loud enough for y/n and Sting Ray to make eye contact, trying not to laugh.
“You have me talking y’all to Autozone, do you need a ride back to your car?”
The girl spoke up. She glanced at the cramped couple in her back seat.
“No ma’am, a friend is meeting us,” y/n shook her head, voice quiet. Her typically monotone voice retained a gentle southern accent in the mildly uncomfortable new environment.
The girl nodded, whispering a quiet okay.
Five of the nearly forty minute drive to the nearest Autozone passed. Quiet. After that first interaction the driver hadn’t spoken up.
She just left Sting Ray and y/n to themselves.
The two were tall enough, in the legs atleast, to have to sit kind of crooked in the backseat of the mini cooper. They couldn’t look at each other at a normal distance.
They couldn’t look at each other without the threat of breaking out laughing.
Y/n resorted to laying her head on his shoulder. He followed, setting his head on top of hers before they both fell asleep.

The World Froze Around Us
-> Bewitched by Laufey
Zhou Guanyu doing dishes that reader had been putting off all day.
The TV played its screensaver, the movie it had on was paused and forgotten in favor of a soft jazz playlist. The sun had gone down and the day was just beginning to end.
Y/n had done her chores.
Most of them.
Dishes were sorted, but otherwise untouched. Until Guanyu had wandered over.
Y/n had drifted off to sleep on the couch, sat up with her head off to an awkward angle. Guanyu looked back at her every once in a while as he scrubbed off the day’s dishes.
The room had gotten dark, she was backlit by a soft lamp on the other side of her. Her dark hair lit up a hidden amber that gave her a sort of halo effect.
He stacked the dishes into her dishwasher. Slow, not trying to make too much noise.
He didn’t want to wake her up.
Guanyu didn’t see her stir awake. He just stacked the last couple dishes into the dishwasher.
She stepped up beside him as he washed his hands off.
“You didn’t have to get that,” she said, voice barely above a whisper.
He still had the dish towel in his hand when he set his hands on her waist. “You wouldn’t have.”
She rolled her eyes.
He pulled her closer, tossing the towel onto the counter as he hugged her close. Her head slotted right up against his neck. His hands planted themselves firmly on her upper back, thumbs rubbing back and forth against her shoulder blades.
“I’m gonna miss having you here all the time.”
