I haven’t been feeling well lately. I feel sick, I’ve a lot of anxiety and depression. It’s not because of the game, but rather because of things from my past and my personal life, so I wanted to ask you: Is it okay if I take a break for a while? Once I’m okay, I’ll continue doing in-game stuff and get back to you.
For now I think I need to rest a bit and take care of myself first.

Update 13:
Hello, here again with a new update. Are you ready? First, let’s get on with the comments:
Hmm…
- There are no comments about including Varik and his lore in the game, but I’ve seen the amount of views in Starmen.net and I’ve gotten two hearts on Tumblr, so I’ll take that as a “yeah, why not?” Okay, I’ll write it up.
- Since I haven’t received any feedback on how to name the universe yet, I think we’ll leave it as is for now (no name), but remember that “Mother CDDJ” and “Mother BTLS” are part of the same universe, and the first one goes first before the last.
- Someone on Starmen.net suggested naming the alien village "Halcyonia", so that's the name I'm sticking with.

Going to the “Update” section: Zone 3 is complete.
“Welcome to the Jungle, we got fun and games” ♪
(Note: As you’ll notice in this image: It doesn’t have a panorama in the background, but I plan to add one later. This is because I’m focusing my attention on making the other maps).
This area is a bit large to explore, though I tried to make it a bit shorter so it wouldn’t be tedious for the player. When the game is done, and if you find out the areas are too short or too long while you’re playing, let me know. I’ll fix everything in the future.

Finally, let’s go with the backstory of the next character: Lobraz
Lobraz is actually Zarbol, or rather what remains of him after being crushed by Lardna Minch in Earthbound. He’s the first character we meet and one of the characters who will accompany Alinivar in this new adventure.
After the events of CogDis and Earthbound, his soul ascended and watched the entire journey of Ness and his friends until everything ended. Once that happened, his spirit was stranded in the Universe. This was because Zarbol couldn’t rest, since he still felt some concern about what happened to his friends in CogDis. So, with his tiny insect soul, he decided to find out about it. In the midst of his quest, he got caught up in a few things (“cough” what happened in Smash Ultimate with the spirits “cough”), until he got sucked into a dark portal that dragged him into the Dark Dimension. Once inside, he wandered around the place a bit and saw Alinivar lying on the ground, so he’s the one who proceeds to try to wake Alinivar when we start the game.
The reason for his name change is because he’s the first one to find out about Alinivar’s memory loss, so in order to not worry or bother his friend with the details, he suggests the Mook to change names and take the subject delicately until he can regain his memories. He does this because he knows if Alinivar remembers anything about him pretty fast, he’ll have a panic attack and become very sad, which wouldn’t be convenient for the situation they’re in.
Fact: “Lobraz” is “Zarbol”, but backwards.

Okay guys, listen:
I’ve had this crazy idea lately while I was working on the maps, and since today is the perfect day for this, I decided to share it with you, so you can give me your opinion about it and see if I add this to the game. I’ve prepared everything for this moment, so let’s proceed:
Remember what I said about the survivors who may come from different places, times, alternate timelines, other universes, even worlds or realities where an author left and their creations ended up stranded in the darkness? Well, the latter was what happened to the next survivor we’ll be talking about now.
(Sorry if my drawings look weird, but I wanted to find a way to tell this story in a proper way).
And here I proceed to show the context and the lore I’ve about this:

His story begins after the events of the Halloween Hack. It can be said that during that time Toby Fox (yep, that dog) left the world and something horrible happened. I can’t mention what it is because spoilers, but I can say that due that event, Varik and some of the humans got dragged from there and ended in the Dark Dimension. Once inside, Varik and the rest met other humans and together formed a community, with Varik becoming the leader. As time went by, a lot of things happened to them, to the point where Varik started to get tired and resentful of everything and everyone. He even acquired some unknown knowledge about the reality of the world around them. Currently, he seems to have only one goal in mind besides escaping, but for the moment I can’t reveal more.
Only time will tell what he’s thinking.

Now, you might be wondering: Where did all this come from? And I only have one answer: Too much Deltarune. 😋
Yeah, you could say that Deltarune and Toby inspired me to create this nonsense.
What I want to do with Varik is to dig deeper into his character and do something new, like a story of corruption and redemption, but I’m not sure if that’s something you guys want to see in a story focused only on aliens. So, I wanted to see if you’d like me to add Varik and this plot to the game or would you rather not.
I’ll be waiting for your feedback as I continue working on the game.

Update 12:
Well, here’s another update: Zone 2 finished.
Tell me, don’t you love deserts?
I did it all myself, though it might need a little polish.
By the way, thanks for the person in the starmen.net forum who told me about how the area size should be. Now it looks like this:
Maybe when the game is done, I’ll ask everyone to explore the maps thoroughly and tell me if everything is okay. If not, I’ll need to make some changes for a new version.

Okay, time for a little backstory.
First, let’s start with everyone’s favorite Mook: Alinivar
After the events of CogDis’s Good Ending, in a new timeline, Alinivar and Col. Saturn returned to a Saturn where no one remembered them or acknowledged what they did. This affected them both quite a bit and Alinivar decided to return to his cave, to release all the emotions he had kept inside for quite some time. The Mr. Saturn that appeared at the beginning of CogDis accompanied him in those sad days and he eventually recovered. After a while, Alin no longer felt comfortable trying to live the life he had before, so one day he grabbed his stuff and simply left the cave. The adventures he had with the Applechasers made him reflect on many things, gave him more self-confidence, and thanks to that, he decided to become something like a space traveler. On his travels he painted pictures, played some music, met new beings and helped those in need (influenced by the past actions of his companions, especially Niiue). Some time later, someone mysterious from the future sent him a note explaining what had happened to Zarbol and Giygas, which saddened him a lot, but he accepted the loss knowing it was something that had to be done. Moving forward in the story and before the events of the game, Alinivar got into a big trouble and that’s what led to him being in the Dark Dimension, with no memories at all. He doesn’t remember who he is, what happened and why he’s there, but as the game progresses, he’ll gradually recover his memories and the truth will be known.

To finish: I need a name for the Mother CDDJ/BTLS universe and a name for the alien village, any suggestions?

Small Update:
The maps for Zone 0 and 1 are complete.
I swapped the Tileset colors for Zone 0 and now it has this color:
Zone 1 now have that greenish color that Zone 0 had. I just need a little help with something:
I’m not very convinced about how this part here turned out, any suggestions on how I can fix it so it looks good?

Update 10:
Okay, looks like we’re getting somewhere.
It looks kind of cool so far, though I might need to change the background (probably?). I want to make it feel immersive, like you’re actually trapped in a really dark and unknown place.
Speaking of which, I think it’s time to tell you a few things, so get your drinks and snacks ready and get comfortable.
This is going to be a wild lore ride.

I think I should start by telling you what the “Dark Dimension” is:
It seems to be a dimension that exists apart from this universe. Maybe a pocket dimension? An interdimensional space where time and space are nullified? Nobody knows, but the only thing know for sure is it was created by some kind of dark entity and anyone who is brought here can’t leave this place (with a few exceptions, of course).
Here live the “Paradows” (Parasite + Shadows). Fearsome creatures that feed from the desperation and negativity of their victims.
What they do first with their victims is torment them, then they take control or possess them to the point of corrupting them enough to turn them into beings like them, and when finished, they separate from them to continue this cycle of chaos.
Since there’s a lot of this negativity in this universe and others, they tend to be attracted to it, and sometimes open portals to drag their victims into this dimension (their nest) to proceed to do what I mentioned above, and in the process feed their creator queen:
"The Entity"
The few who survive their attacks are those who try to remain stable, determined and hopeful despite the situation, adding that they may come from different places, times, alternate timelines, other universes, realities where an author left and their creations ended up stranded in this darkness, etc.

Now, are you ready for a reveal?
That’s right, this game is a prequel to “Mother TRD”. Once it’s finished and the bugs are fixed, I’ll take a break and then reboot TRD to turn it into “Mother BTLS”. Here you’ll be given the background for a lot of things that will happen in Mother BTLS later on. I hope you like it.

Update 9:
Okay, a little update:
I’ve started drawing some sort of diagrams with some descriptions and notes in Spanish to get an idea of how to make the game maps.
Digging deeper: Have any of you played the “OFF” game?
Well, basically this “Dark Dimension” is divided into zones (like OFF) the characters will have to explore as they advance in the game. At the moment, there will be 6 zones, plus zone 0, and a place that will be a kind of alien village where the characters can rest, craft, sell and buy items, talk with the aliens around, etc. Each zone has its own thing, for example one zone can be infested with plant enemies and another full of rock enemies. To go to each zone you will need a ship, since these places are like floating islands. To make it clear:
I’ll probably use the Undertale method when making the tilesets: make beta tilesets, test them in-game, then trade them for final tilesets.
With this I conclude my explanation.

I wanted to make the game small, but it seems it will be a bit bigger. Maybe as long as Deltarune’s chapter 1 and 2 together? I don’t know, but there is still a lot to do.

Update 8:
Despite some issues I had with the Internet, the freezing weather, and some things I’m working on with my life, I was able to make some progress:
☆ Enemies now have their respective battle backgrounds.
☆ Skills and animations are almost ready, I just need to add some descriptions and make some adjustments regarding the Skills.
Regarding the animations, I need a little help.
You see, I only need two animations for Pk Gamma and Pk Omega and I was wondering if someone could make the graphics for me or at least recommend a place where I can find the resources to do it.
It would be very helpful.

I'm back with more progress:
☆ Items with images and descriptions done.
☆ Weapons with images and descriptions done.
☆ "Head", "Body", "Add-on" and "Other" equipment with images and descriptions done.
☆ States and attributes done.
(Note: Some things may change in the future based on what players say when they try the game, wheter I've to add, remove or modify something.)
▪ New feature: You can combine items to create a new one (like the Combinulator).
Of course, there's gonna be some NPC who will tell you what do you need to craft said item. Here an example:
What I'm working now is to modify the enemies' stats so they won't be too powerful or too weak. After that, the next work is to create the skills, the animations and the colorful backgrounds for the fights.

Update 6:
Lately I've had to attend to some personal matters in my life, but I was able to make some progress with the project.
The enemy sprites have been added, and thanks to the help of some people from discord, each enemy has its name now.
In the future, I plan to modify their stats and add skills and attacks, but for the moment I've tested how their sprites work in the game (with the moving background.)
(I had to make sure they looked good enough, with the right size.)
I've to continue taking care of the little things like: Items, change the states, modify, create and incorporate the attack and skill animations, change the battle backgrounds, among other stuff.
Although it seems slow, the project is progressing little by little.

Update 5:
I've been busy with a lot of things lately, but I was finally able to finish putting and modifying all the group, npcs, and even the enemies overworld sprites.
(In the image I only show a few, but in reality there's much more sprites. I'm not joking).
Now it's time to see the other things that remain to be done and finally I’ll move on to the topic of maps and tilesets.
While I'm at it, could you give me some name suggestions for these enemies?

Update 4:
Hi, sorry for the delay with the update, but lately I've been testing the main characters and npcs sprites (making sure they work and move well in the game).
I still need to make some adjustments with the sprites of the Gieegs and other aliens, but I think it could be finished soon.
The good news is the Mooks, Starmans, Mr. Saturns, UFOs, Fobby and Foppy sprites are working correctly.
(Note: I made them all move in random directions, but for some reason they go up, lol).
Well, that's all I have for today, it's time to keep working.

At the moment I'm doing some testing with sprites:
But something worth noting is that now the characters run, jump and can bump into things. Here is a small demonstration:

For now I should leave a notice of this bug in a "Notepad" file.

Context: In the past I worked with this program making demos of a past fangame (*cof* "Mother TRD" *cof*) that ended failing a bit, but maybe this time I can do things better with this new fangame.
