do parents not get that when we say ‘cant drive’ not mean ‘cannot physical drive’ and more mean ‘cant safely drive bc anxiety and tics and dissociation and pain’
like we drive in a parking lot but on road can hurt people and that is scarier and our brain cant work in a way to keep us and others safe.

i feel really bad for saying this, but something i struggle with regarding my autism is trying to sound interested in other people's interests. i try so hard to seem interested because i know that feeling of being ignored when infodumping about your interests, but also, my own interests are so restricted that i cant get into/seem interested in anyone elses interests.
i cant get into things people recommend me, at all, no matter how hard i actually want to because it just feels like a demand. i also cant get into anything else even if i myself really want to get into it. especially if someone else's interests involve anything with real humans. cant watch anything thats live action, it needs to be animated and usually has to involve animals in some way.

Shout out to the autistic who’s abilities have regressed as they’ve gotten older.
“You didn’t used to be like this when you were a kid.” I know please don’t remind me

maybe harsh take. but. shitting on people who can't care about selves. who live with parents. who rely on partners in 'basic' tasks. (yes even body care tasks). who got chores done for them. who don't work. is ableist. even if clarify 'this specific person isn't disabled.' it still perpetuates stigma. it still ableist.
say exactly what wrong. have they overstepped someone's boundaries? have they pressured someone into care? have they manipulated abused etc.? something else? point wrong behavior. n critique this behavior.
'they're 30 n live with parents' not bad behavior. 'their parent cut their nails' not bad behavior. 'they don't work' not bad behavior.
'but they're abled!' 1) you don't know for sure. can't know for sure. undiagnosed n invisible disabilities exist. not every undiagnosed individual able to take care of self. recognize undiagnosed n invisible disabilities existence not only when they look 'nice' for you. 2) it still contributes to stigma around needing care. disabled people often not seen as disabled. even if visibly disabled. every individual presumed abled because ableism. so disabled individuals will be shitted on because need care. because presumed abled.
to destigmatize needing care. have to destigmatize getting care. even if not see as 'reasonable' n 'justified.' can't destigmatize needing care if say 'getting care depending on others living with parents etc. is bad but disabled is exception.' because still stigmatize process of getting cared.
people don't need allowance n approval of society to get care.
(not say not call out bad behavior. ask call out bad behavior specifically. not stigmatized neutral things).

We hate leftists who say the only way to be a leftist is to read theory because not even audiobooks are accessible to us and our severe learning disability. Unless you want to make a summary of all the theory books using simplified language and breaking down complex concepts, we are going to be physically unable to read theory otherwise.

Don't assume people's support needs !!!
Able to speak full time/partial time ≠ low support need
Able to type complex sentences ≠ low support need
Able to do literally ANYTHING ≠ literally ANYTHING
The only thing that dictates wether or not you are low, medium or high support needs is the GENERAL support you need. End of case.

Many say “oh youre higher needs higher lv autism? you just communicate differently n that valid!!”
but, often see ppl often walk around or boil down to “if communicating At All then good”, what if cant? what if when Yom isnt thinking, communicating differently, or expressing At All?
unable to communicate doesnt equal less value. doesnt mean less human. often for self, we dont feel conscious. we often stare off or look at nothing and nothing at all in brain. lot of times we dont think, and other times think and daydream lots, but still no respond. lot of times cant even use own aac when needed most.
dunno how to describe for us, it just nothing
and not responding or doing anything at all doesnt equal ignoring you or “no”. often do want something but body does Nothing, so it assumed “no”.
For Yom, we often Are in our own world. perception of world so different. no less human. Not made for your world. Dont think or breathe same
still deserve love, even if not pleasing you. Been told many bad things because brain don’t communicate at all lot times. been assumed “bad person” because dont respond
This is all the time, not just selective mutism for I
everyone different, we are not fact for all. always ask when comfortable.
for us, it best to not force us to do anything, or keep asking “what wrong? what u want me to do?” when not responsive, cuz often can’t respond at all. it best to just make us feel safe n comfortable. so sick of ppl talking so much
[plz reblog]

Haven't seen a post like this so I'll make one: Shoutout to the autistics that have special interests that people find creepy (for example horror , true crime things , knives but could also be anatomy etc because that might come off as creepy)
Double shoutout to autistics who enjoy talking about these things with no awareness that people find it creepy/get uncomfortable when hear it.
