Why do you think it's really likely that Julian could die in qoaad?

I honestly don’t see any other way out? With the parabatai curse it’s pretty obvious it won’t work out unless one of them dies, or all the bonds are broken. If he breaks all the bonds I wouldn’t be able to forgive him for that. (And neither would Emma) Since the parabatai curse drives you mad until you kill everyone around you it makes sense if Julian starts going downhill (especially after Livvy’s death) and it seems like the curse is already affecting him. If Emma dies I don’t really like that message “you can be a badass if you’re a girl, but you have to die in the end” and the curse doesn’t seem to be affecting her yet, so I don’t see her losing it first. (And the curse has got to come into play in qoaad there’s no way we’re avoiding it soooo) (I don’t know if this makes any sense, but Julian dying seems to be a very likely possibility for me)

“I was excited to write the story of Magnus and Alec Having An Adventure and Falling More In Love for a very long time, but my ability to do so was limited by the way publishing and distribution worked back in 2005, when I was initially trying to sell City of Bones. There was a lot more resistance to gay characters in YA at that time. A couple of publishers turned the book down because Alec, a gay character, was in it. The Barnes & Noble website page for City of Bones included a review from Commonsense Media where they gave it a content warning for “sexual content” just because of the presence of a gay character even though he never did anything sexual. A lot of big box stores refused to carry the book, and major children’s book clubs passed it over. 
I always hoped for systems to change. As the books grew more popular, and as times changed, I was able to include more of Magnus and Alec as the series went on. In fact, their presence in the story and on the page made a big jump starting in CoFA, at which point I received a surge of criticism from those who were upset that I was writing about Magnus and Alec more prominently. I remember having my books pulled from libraries; foreign translators cut scenes with Magnus and Alec in them; once I was standing in the middle of the street about to get into a car to take me to a school where I was going to do a talk about my books when my publicist came up and said we were no longer invited: the school had read about Magnus and Alec and they didn’t want me there. Or often, if I was at a school, I’d be asked not to talk about Magnus and Alec while speaking to the students. 
I tried to walk a careful line, including Magnus and Alec (and later, Aline and Helen) as significant and meaningful characters, but still managing to keep schools, libraries, and reading groups from throwing the books out or locking them up where the kids who most needed to read them wouldn’t be able to access them at all.“

FIRST OF ALL, HOW DARE THEY

i’m watching s2e14 of shadowhunters

AND THE WRITERS HAVE UNDERMINED EVERY FEMALE CHARACTER ARC

Izzy: izzy is now “just an addict.” ever since she was introduced to yin fen (which i’m still absolutely pissed about), every time she has made an appearance has involved her addiction and practically nothing else–except The Brooding Male Characters™ (meliorn, raphael, and sebastian) all vying for her love. also izzy’s known about robert’s affair this whole time, but it didn’t completely change her view on relationships and trust? (see the whole “not trusting anyone romantically” aspect of her character seen in city of fallen angels).

Clary: the only reason jace hasn’t made a move on clary is because she has a boyfriend. she hasn’t been credited with the new clave symbol that involves all of the downworlders, especially considering how much thought and consideration she put into it. they rewrote the kiss in the seelie court so that clary goes directly from one romantic relationship to another, as opposed to being platonic with simon before even finding out jace wasn’t her brother–but of course it’s impossible to have a platonic relationship with a character of the opposite sex unless he’s gay.

Maia: maia is “the pretty one” bartender who is sleeping with jace. she’s only around when there’s a potential love interest in the same scene.

Maureen: maureen had a crush on simon, slept with him, got pissed off with him for having feelings for clary, and was never seen again.

Jocelyn: killed off in the stupidest way possible, affecting both clary’s and  izzy’s arc (not to mention a whole lot of others’).

Dorothea: despite the fact that she had a minor role in city of bones before being killed off, she’s stuck around and her only plot significance is to have a thing for magnus.

THIS ISN’T OKAY

other outraged bits: you have to destroy the soul sword??? the hell??? so they introduced “the seelie glade” only to introduce “the seelie court” later on??? childlike seelie queen? literally everything jace says about her beauty and loveliness now seems more pedophilic than political. gah. luke: “diplomacy gets us nowhere” me: “and that, ladies and gents, is the exact opposite of luke garroway’s real character.”

i’m done with this. these books deserved better. these characters deserved better. i’ve been watching every adaptation made out of loyalty to these books, these characters, the shadowhunter world, but when i feel nauseous after watching an episode, i have to call it quits.
