The Exotic Animal Photo Reference Repository is live!

Here's how this repository works: all photos were taken by me, a human, at zoos, aquariums, sanctuaries, and other facilities with animals in human care. There is no AI involved in the photo editing or creation and there never will be. Right now there's 56 species on the site; my catalog has over 300 and I will be uploading the rest of them as fast as I can.

Artists creating derivative or transformative works (without AI) have blanket permission to use these references. Yes, even for work you're going to sell.

All other usage/reproduction requires permission, but assume I'm friendly and please do ask! That's educators, researchers, the media, people who need images for a school presentation, etc. This is just to retain copyright/control in case they're scraped/reused unethically - it doesn't meant I don't want folk to have access! So please do reach out via the contact form on the repository website, I don't bite and I'm most likely going to say yes.

Please don't repost the repository photos to your own blogs: I've created @animalphotorefs as a dedicated blog to share photos from the site, and of course I'll reblog a lot of it here! That again just helps with retaining copyright and sourcing of the images. If you really want to repost some for a specific purpose, please just ask me first!

Also, folks, this project has no funding. It's just me and my camera.

There will never be a paywall on the site - I believe resources like this absolutely must be free for everyone to access. So please, please, please support the repository if you use it. Want sneak peeks at photos, cute videos I take, or to help choose what I photograph and what gets posted first? You can do that through Patreon (and there's a free trial on the most interactive tier!) If you'd like to just drop a tip, I've also set up a Ko-Fi.

First of all, just look at them!

Second of all, what with Arthur and Aoi having a damn near canon relationship... I don't want to force my Drifter to destroy a family!

Third of all, they've went through some pure shit together, and, y'know, a budding romance is all well and good, but how about the "this is my family now" thing that they have going on?

And the more they show them, the more I'm like... but... but how am I supposed to pick? When they're all... cool... and awesome?

Okay, I'm probably not going for my partner's romance route to avoid a repeat, but how come they've picked looooong ago and I'm over here like "instructions unclear, they're all a bunch of cuties and need to be happy together"...

At least they didn't whitewash. that would have definitely been worse. his lips are changed as well, I prefer the old lips -they looked more kissable :P I doubt however they will change the models back.

I like writing these headcanon questions, so if you'd like to answer these Warframe 1999 ones, feel free.

1. What is that one party trick that the Drifter would show the Hex and who do you think would be the most impressed with?

2. Would the Drifter spend more time in 1999 or 50-50 back in their own time?

3. There's no missions, so what would the Drifter be doing on their free time with the Hex? Or are they loners and/or stays in their current time until they're summoned?

4. They have free time but they have an S/O, what would they be up to?

5. Are you gonna show off your most broken Warframe builds to the Hex? (Be real, cause I would.)

6. How much of the future is Drifter gonna divulge to their new friends? Or are they straight up gonna just mention something here and there with no context whatsoever?

7. Well, the Hex live in a mall, so where would Drifter hunker down during their rest periods?

8. What souvenir they're gonna abscond from 1999 and take it back to the future?

9. There's a lot of scattered trash, drink cups, etc in the Mall, would the state the Hex live in annoy your Drifter?

10. If there was a choice to romance Major Rusalka, would you romance her?
