Rhaena smiled at Jace’s words, her heart lifting at the idea of being seen as capable, though his concern for her safety didn’t go unnoticed. She had always felt slightly in his shadow—heir to a stronger bond with dragons, raised on Dragonstone where their heritage loomed heavier on him than on her, yet her resolve never wavered. Sheepstealer was wild, untamed, and that fire called to her.
Her hands moved as she brushed dirt off her travel-worn clothes, evidence of her determination. "He’s as much of a beast as the stories say, but no less Valyrian than any other dragon. The question is not whether I can claim him, but if I’m willing to take the risk. And I am." Her eyes flicked over to Vermax, who shifted restlessly nearby, and then back to Jace, their conversation weighted by what the dragons represented. Rhaena took a deep breath.
"Your mother might want me to stay out of this, but I’ve waited long enough. I’m no Dragonseed, Jace. I have the blood, and if Sheepstealer senses it, that will matter more than any threat or offering." She smiled slightly at his suggestion. "Perhaps Vermax should stay, though. Sheepstealer is used to being alone. I’ll go alone if it comes to it. I can’t afford to look like I’m afraid or bringing force." She took a step closer to Jace, her voice soft but filled with a quiet steel. "I know you’re only here because you care, Do you trust me to do this?"
"Oh, I'm sure my mother and your father would kill me if I knew you were chasing a wild dragon and didn't attempt to help you. More than that, I want to help. Those on Dragonstone are far more occupied with other matters. I am sure my absence has not even been noted." He replied, a smile on his face. He had suggested Rhaena to his mother when they sought Dragonseeds in the first place, and now that Vermithor, Silverwing, and Seasmoke had been claimed, another dragon would only help their numbers. He might not approve of at least one of the new Dragonseeds, but they had sworn loyalty, and he could only hope they would retain that, that the men had the honor they proclaimed.
"I think you can. Do you?" She had surely been tracking the beast for a while, if the state of her clothes was any indication. Her determination alone, he hoped, would endear the dragon to her, plus her strong ties to Valyria. She had more Valyrian blood than he could claim, certainly. "Should we set out? Perhaps Vermax should stay here to wait - we don't want to seem threatening."

Rhaena stood tall under her father’s gaze, the weight of his pride settling around her like a cloak. The memory of Sheepstealer’s acceptance was still fresh—raw and thrilling. She could feel the dragon’s presence even now, distant but tethered to her in a way she hadn’t thought possible before. The wildness in his eyes had mirrored something in herself, something untamed and fierce, and that connection was undeniable.
Daemon’s hands on her shoulders were grounding, his pride unmistakable, but his words about Rhaenyra made her stiffen. She had defied her queens orders, and while she understood the reasoning behind her assignment to Pentos, she couldn’t remain idle while war loomed. Her brothers were her heart, yes, but so too was the Targaryen legacy. To be a dragonrider meant more than safety; it meant power, it meant protection, and it meant the ability to change the course of the war.
As her father stepped back to observe Sheepstealer, Rhaena’s gaze followed his. The dragon was unlike any other—, as wild and untamable as the stories claimed. His wings were torn, his scales an unusual blend of hues, but he was hers now. A sense of pride swelled in her chest, mirroring her father’s. “I will not fail him,” Rhaena said softly, her eyes still on Sheepstealer. She turned her gaze back to Daemon, her voice steady. “Or you. I know what this means… I know what we’re fighting for.”
Rhaena had never been one to shy away from a challenge. She was her father’s daughter, and the fire that burned in him lived in her too. If they were to win this war, she needed to be more than a bystander. "I’ll do what’s needed," she promised. "The Queen may not understand at first, but I won’t let her doubt me forever. Sheepstealer chose me, and I’ll prove to her that I’m meant to fight for our family."
There was a moment of silence, and Rhaena glanced at the dragon once more before looking back at Daemon, a flicker of determination in her eyes. “We won’t just learn quickly,” she said with quiet confidence, “we’ll be ready.”
there is a sense of PRIDE that swells within daemon's chest. rhaena , his daughter , had finally claimed a dragon of her own , after so long. there is no greater feeling in the world , the rogue prince believes , than to be accepted by a dragon. and though the beast is WILD , his wings shredded and his coloring unusual , he can sense the trust that had been built , brick by brick , between the beast and his daughter.
the king consort drops his hands to the young woman's shoulders , offering her a reassuring squeeze. he is uncertain of the reaction rhaenyra will have ──── while it is true that she had tasked rhaena with accompanying their young boys to pentos , it was IMPOSSIBLE to deny that they needed more dragonriders. though both of daemon’s daughters were GREEN in the art of war , the argument would do little to persuade the man to her side. he knows little of the dragonseeds , knows not which , if any , have seen battle , but he does know that prince jacaerys was also inexperienced with battle. keeping rhaena and her mount close could give them the advantage they needed in the battles to come. but to defy a direct order from his queen . . . it would take much from him , honeyed words and just the right amount of intimacy , perhaps , to get her on board , to trust that rhaena would not have left her brothers alone had she thought them unsafe.
“ leave the queen to me , rhaena , ” he smiles , unable to hide the pride of a father. “ we must get started on your training if we’re to convince the queen that you belong at our side. ” he releases his daughter from his grasp and takes a few steps back , surveying the beast they called sheepstealer. he rubs at his jaw. “ this one has never accepted a rider , so he does not know commands. it will take much work on your part , rhaena , but i believe you two will learn quickly. we haven’t the gift of time in this war. ”

Rhaena Targaryen stood at the edge of the courtyard, , the Northern chill biting at her skin through the fine layers of her dress. Jon Snow approached, his brow furrowed, concern evident in his quiet question. Rhaena glanced at him, a small smile playing on her lips, though there was something distant in her violet eyes. The cold was a different beast here in the North, but she had known colder in a different sense. In a place where trust was scarce, and the stakes were always too high.
❝No, Lord Snow,❞ she replied softly, her tone almost teasing as if amused by his concern. ❝I find the North refreshing… in its way.❞ Her gaze lingered on him for a moment before turning back to the horizon, where the land seemed to stretch on forever, an unyielding sea of white and gray. She pulled her cloak tighter around her shoulders, more out of habit than need. ❝But I wonder,❞ she added after a pause, her voice quieter, ❝does the cold here ever truly leave, or does it simply become a part of you?❞

@usurpercrown asked: what would a silly girl like you have to say to a king
Rhaena stood as tall as she could, her violet eyes steady on Aegon. His dismissive words, laced with arrogance, had been meant to cut her down—to remind her of her place. But she was the daughter of Daemon Targaryen, and boldness flowed in her veins. Her mother's character did not allowed her to be quiet for long either and the princess stood as poised as ever.
"A silly girl?" she echoed, her voice calm yet sharp. "You mistake me for one of your courtiers who trembles at the sight of your crown. One that does not fit." Her gaze flickered briefly to the Conqueror's crown upon his head, then back to his eyes, unwavering. "I’ll not waste my breath calling a man king who does not deserve the title." The challenge in her words hung in the air like a blade, daring him to strike. If she is alive it's for a reason, and she expect is leverage. To keep father at bay or Rhaenyra but she is uncertain if the queen care that much for her. Alas, she keeps as calm as she can.

THE TUDORS SEASON ONE SENTENCE STARTERS / (PART TWO)
s01e06 - s01e10
❛ It would be wise for you not to be fooled by your own masquerade. It is your duty to use his love to our advantage. ❜
❛ What would a silly girl like you have to say to a king? ❜
❛ Forgive me. I spoke of things I should not. ❜
❛ I give you leave that we may always speak freely with each other. Honestly, openly and with a true heart. ❜
❛ I never believed that love should be bound by doctrine. ❜
❛ Let him play with you. Let him give you gifts. But he cannot give you his true heart. For I have that in my keeping. ❜
❛ You are expensive, huh? An expensive whore! ❜
❛ He is infatuated by you, as men often are by new things. Soon he will see you for what you really are. And he will tire of you...as all the others. ❜
❛ You owe all your advancement in this world to me. ❜
❛ Oh, I see. You don't want to get your hands dirty. I understand. Well, unfortunately, you don't have a choice. ❜
❛ There has been an outbreak of sweating sickness. Three hundred deaths this day alone. ❜
❛ This plague that has come upon us is a punishment from God. ❜
❛ Are you pleased to send me away? ❜
❛ When you speak like that, my love... You act as though I had the plague. As though love itself were a plague. ❜
❛ Surely his passion for this girl will alter and fade with time. As all such passions inevitably do. ❜
❛ It is not seemly for a man of your dignity to be seen to beg in public, whatever the cause. ❜
❛ You and I must stay in the king's good graces or we are nothing. ❜
❛ You can love...perhaps for a year, or a month, a day, even for an hour. And in that hour I do believe you love as well and deeply as any man. But after that hour, you love not. ❜
❛ The girl for whom the king would sacrifice his marriage to a most gracious and loving queen. ❜
❛ I have tried to argue him out of his course. But I swear that an angel descending from heaven would not dissuade him. ❜
❛ You're so heartless. So full of hatred. I can't persuade myself any longer that you love me. ❜
❛ How can you say these things to me? After all this time, after all that we have meant to each other. ❜
❛ My only satisfaction is that in frustrating you I hasten your fall from the king's good graces an outcome I desire above all others. ❜
❛ It's true you've risen high. But you shall rise higher yet. ❜
❛ I want them to look at you. I want them to be envious. I want all of them to know exactly how much I love you. ❜
❛ I don't think anything. But I imagine everything. And it is those imaginings that cause me great pain ❜
❛ You treat me so unkindly, and in public! ❜
❛ Why don't you see? Why can't you understand? I've been waiting for so long. For what? ❜
❛ No. It's too late. Your wife won't let you go. I should have realized. ❜
❛ Please ask [name] to come back to court. I beg you for my sake. I can't live without her. ❜
❛ Are you so dense that you really think this is my doing?! ❜
❛ The king cannot go to funerals. No one is allowed to imagine the death of the king. For that would be treason. ❜
❛ I swear to you now, everything will be different. ❜
❛ And in any case, meetings with ambassadors are infinitely tedious. They're all liars, hypocrites and middleaged men. ❜
❛ My friend, if all ambassadors were beautiful women I'd be serving my country day and night. ❜
❛ A pretty little thing, isn't she? I'm going to marry her! ❜
❛ She is wearing purple. And purple is the color of royalty! ❜
❛ I would rather see her hanged than acknowledge her as my mistress! ❜
❛I would only be unhappy if you ever stopped loving me. ❜
❛ I came because I heard you were unwell. And that it was necessary for the physician to have bled you. How are you feeling now? ❜
❛No tears for me, I beg you. Forgive me, that you have not much to remember me by. ❜
❛ If I wanted forgiveness I should ask for it...but for all that I have done, and for all that I am yet to do, there can be no forgiveness. ❜

@chevalirs asked: this is all a test of faith . for miss rhaena !
Rhaena listened to Gwayne’s words with an intensity that sharpened her gaze. “A test of faith?” she repeated, her tone steady, though the disagreement simmered beneath it. Her hands clasped behind her back, as if to steady herself against the weight of the conversation. She lifted her chin, eyes scanning the distant horizon where war brewed, where alliances frayed at the seams.
“Faith has little to do with what we live through now, Ser Gwayne,” she said, her voice firm but not unkind. “This is a game of power, not belief. It's about who claims to deserve the throne and what they're willing to do to take it—how many lives they’ll spend, how far they’ll reach into the darkness.”
She stepped closer, the breeze lifting a strand of her silver hair. “What we face isn’t a test of loyalty to the gods but a battle of wills.”
