“We are bringing India into London”.
Tumblr media
Yesterday, the Suri family invited the travel and event companies that will promote their new hotel in London opening in two weeks.
After the death of her husband, Lalit Suri in London 10 years ago, Jyotsna Suri decided to expand the family business in Europe starting by the favorite city of her deceased husband.
“At the beginning, we will not be looking for the quantity but for the quality; meaning that even if we are selling half of the rooms only, we want the guest to enjoy the full Lalit experience, from the rooms amenities to the restaurant and the spa,” Suri said.
They came from India to introduce to potential promoters, like London Partners or MS Travels, the five-star luxury boutique hotel with luxurious and vast rooms, marbled floors in the bathroom and Indian bedding (from £350 per night).
The family was proud to show the original ceilings and floors of the 180-year-old edifice, formerly the St. Olave’s Grammar School, and the Indian décor combined with an essential British charisma.
They have big projects, and Tiago Stattmiller, sales manager confessed: “We want to do great things around here, and we are already looking out for our partnerships with Ferrari or Mercedes for luxury driving around the city and some cruises companies to enjoy the Thames”.
On February 15, only 20 of the 70 rooms in the boutique hotel will be available as the rest is still under construction, and the restaurant which is aiming for a Michelin star in the next two years will open for lunch and dinner to the public.
“Namaskar” is the Indian greeting the Lalit customers will receive as soon as they arrive in the hotel located behind Tower Bridge with a view of the City Hall, and the owner was exited to say: “We are bringing India into London”.

first snow in the french Alps
Tumblr media
The first snow of the season fell this morning at La Sambuy station in the French Alps, and the ski instructors are very happy about it.
Between Annecy and Albertville the Olympics city, this family ski resort offered many activities during the warmer season like the summer sledge run or hiking in the nature reserve with an incredible view of the Mont-Blanc.
The president of the organization SambuyEvent Quentin Dunand was here to witness today and was very excited about the ski season coming up: “for the moment one week of snow is planned, and for our station The Sambuy a big day on Wednesday,” said the former ski instructor.
This year the first snowflakes formed a layer of 1 cm at 1150 m in altitude and already 5 cm at higher elevations and it hasn’t happened since October 28 2012 where 8 cm were found at 1800 high in the mountain.
Many local people came early in the afternoon for a walk or just to enjoy the view at the transforming white coated ski station and Jacques was looking forward to jump back on his skis whereas his wife Virginie was not as happy and she explained that it is better when the snow comes later or the winters are very long and she doesn’t even ski.
The lovers of sliding or snowshoeing can’t enjoy it before the December 17 but the toboggan enthusiasts could be at the party next weekend predicted Quentin, and compared to last year when the snow came late we can be certain of a good snow and good condition for skiers.

Keep the guards on the train
Tumblr media
The protest today was about the Govia Thameslink railway Southern (GTR) and RMT dispute that have been going on for months.
Tumblr media
“Today we are supporting to keep the guards on the southern service trains and we hope that they are going to come to some sort of agreement with the RMT” said John a supporter.
Tumblr media
There was a great ambiance at the parliament square with people chanting and raising their fists.
Tumblr media
From midday few hundreds of men and women were participating at the rally expecting that the health and safety professionals could keep their job and continue to assist the southern service commuters.
Tumblr media
T-shirts and flyers and newspapers were given to whoever was passing by or who wanted to take part of the protest.
“We say no!” or “Theresa May” could be heard on the megaphone and in the rhythmic songs this morning and we could feel the anger in the atmosphere.
Tumblr media
Mick Cash, the general Secretary of RMT, Manuel Cortes, the General Secretary of TSSA were part of the speakers who were invited to talk inside the parliament at 2 pm.
The guards will be on strike on Friday and Saturday this week.

Ciara the make-up artist
Tumblr media
“I am scared of being normal, conforming into people with all those beauty standards and ‘normalities’. I have always knew and felt different. Like when I was a child and every little girls played with their Barbie dolls I was chopping their hair off. But I guess it made me stronger and endorse my inner self.”
Creative and shy Ciara is a make-up advisor for Clinic, and even though her job could involve some superficiality she likes to play around with different personalities and themes and color. With her long pink hair, her hand covered in colorful lipsticks and her Halloween face paint to promote her brand she says that she is happy and in peace with herself.

“Music is everywhere around us, on TV, on the radio, and of course where we live influences our taste and our preferences in what we listen. But it is not only about tradition.
I came from Spain for an audition in an Orchestra not long ago, but they were amateurs so they didn’t pay much money for my services. In Spain it was very difficult to make a living with my music because of the crisis, so I am hoping for the UK to give me future opportunities, like at the moment I rarely busk but usually play in Orchestras, for weddings and different events.”
Dacian plays violin since he was 6 years old, and he never thought he would become a professional musician but he says that as he got older he realized he was very good at it, and for his point of view if somebody wants to become a good musician, they must study. So he went to an art school in Romania where he was born, and had his violin Master Degree in Italy.”

Smoking Students
Tumblr media
Cigarette hanging on their lips as soon as they step outside, this is the routine of many students throughout the day.
Tumblr media
The smokers hang out in groups or rarely on their own (staring at their phone) in the front of the university or in the Courtyard, and as student Han-Yih confess, he is sadly part of the youth who started smoking for the social aspect of it.
Tumblr media
On Penryn campus, the Fairhill Medical Practice offers help for the students who are willing or struggling to quit this addiction.

“I got scouted at the clothes show in Birmingham wearing a pair of jeans when I was 16”. This how Jess got into the fashion industry. She then worked for an Agency that took 70% of her income and before finally making her own way as a freelancer which opened much more doors to her and her career.
This gorgeous red hair to-be journalist appeared in some of the US magazines like Supa Supa or Inked magazine, or even Vogue Portugal. She worked for l’Oréal and has done catwalk shows for the British Hair Awards.
Sadly as we hear a lot in this industry, Jess had to deal with anorexia for three years and got through it with therapy and counselling groups but came out of this experience hurt and bruised.
After taking a year off and gaining enough maturity about the job she decided to shoot again with her professional friends for fun, cash and life experience while studying Journalism for the next 3 years.

Journalism is a vocation.
Finally after trying to find a home to my heart, moving across France, Germany and the UK. After enough people who I can prove wrong to their lack of belief in me. After gaining the maturity I needed to be certain of who I am and who I can become. Here I am, taking my life into my hands, and becoming a journalist.
