Why are mules so healthy when other hybrid animals aren't?

not all hybrid animals are unhealthy, it's kind of a roll of the dice on how genetics interact with each other.

in fact, hybridization in general is turning out to be more foundational to evolution then we thought! closely related species are just stealing each other's genes all the time, turns out.

hybridization events are MUCH more common then we thought, and result in the swapping back and forth of species-specific genes, which then drives evolution in different directions for both species with the introduction of these new genes! these events are called "gene flow".

modern humans specifically are a really good example of this, actually- humans with ancestral roots in Europe and Western Asia have a TON of traits that were lifted directly from our sister species, Neanderthals, after a whole slew of gene flow events!

some of these genes are believed to be responsible for hair texture, viral immune response, metabolism, and heightened sense of smell.

and on the Eastern side of Asia, the same is true of Denisovans, another modern human sister species!

these genes provided cold and altitude tolerance, among other benefits.

basically what I'm getting at here is that we now know that the tree of life is more like a series of streams flowing back and forth into each other to reinforce evolutionary pathways, all due to closely related species looking at each other and wiggling their eyebrows suggestively.

Tarkin touches her face and tells her how happy he was to sign her death. Vader, in particular, wants to control her and punish her for her insolence and refusal to bow and be a dog and a leash like he is but he can’t control her. So he destroys her by destroying her planet and telling her it is Her Fault, personally. Because he cannot control and punish her like he wants to he kills and controls and punishes the people who she does love- bail and breha, then Han. Leia’s literally a military field commander but also a very young woman living through the most unimaginably horrific terminator-esque horror movie scenario: the scariest man in the universe Knows your name, and wants you, personally, to suffer

i’m curious what arbitrary and specific flavors people dislike are. rb and tag a Taste you simply don’t fuck with. for flavor reasons not texture reasons. for me? i do not like elderflower or caraway for whatever reason

i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.

so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.
