bet these people could not have even said such a thing if the author of atyd was still active in the fandom. if mskingbean89 was still active and reblogged this shit, then these people would have learned what they failed to educate themselves. have some respect for fanfic writers. can't believe you yourself are a fic writer too. could you criticize how atyd remus and sirius were styled toxic and heteronormative and fetishized at the face of the author, mskingbean89, who would have had millions of fanfollowers, like this. no, you wouldn't. coward behavior.
The number of fans who insist that ATYD's versions of Remus and Sirius are "canon" rather than Original Characters in Remus Lupin and Sirius Black skin suits is unbelievable. Like, if they want to love ATYD, whatever...but puh-lease stop pretending that the characters in it are the end-all, be-all interpretations of Remus and Sirius.

Remus: am I... attracted to you? Sirius: of course you are. All men are. I'm the confuser. Sirius: "is it a man, is it a woman, oh, I'm not sure if I mind!"

this situation is ridiculous. why can't sirius be a queen? who made that kind of gender rule? sometimes, tumblr is so transphobic. sirius can be a queen as much as he can be a king. if sirius is a queen, that is not homophobic, but if sirius can't be a queen, that's transphobic.
OKAY So, I'm not responding to the asks directly because I don't have any interest in engaging with people whose sole purpose in this space seems to be cruelty BUT this is really starting to piss me off, so I will address it I guess. Someone asked me if the Queen's death would be mentioned in the next KYD chapter and I responded with "Sirius doesn't die in KYD" Then someone wrote me saying "isn't that homophobic?" To which my first response was "What?" But I screen shotted a bit from the first chapter of Choices, which is what, in my head, I was referencing, in which Sirius dramatically enters the train compartment and Remus says something along the lines of "Do you have to announce yourself everywhere you go like the goddamn Queen" and Sirius replies "I am the Queen" and goes on to say something about how you've never seen the two of them in the same place so you can't prove that he's not the queen. This is a joke about Sirius having an inflated sense of self worth, the type one might expect from the monarch of a country it has literally nothing to do with his sexual orientation AT ALL BUT I do understand that my response to that ask could also be taken as a reference to Sirius being "a queen" as in, a flamboyant gay man, and I was aware of that when I wrote it Here's the thing, as a queer person myself, as someone with queer friends who hangs out in queer spaces this joke just feels cute and light hearted to me? Nothing about it was malicious or meant to be degrading, and I feel like the tone and context makes that pretty clear? I took down my response to the ask saying this was homophobic not because I don't agree with my response but because I just don't want to engage with the people on here who seem to get a kick out of harassing others. And I have tried so hard to just mind my own business, to not talk about anyone or bother anyone and it doesn't seem to matter and I just honestly have no idea how to handle this anymore. I just feel like no matter what I do I'm losing here. I really don't want to hurt anybody. I really don't want to cause any harm. I try my best to be kind on this platform, if you wanna talk to me talk to me, but sending me horrible messages and saying vile and completely unfounded things about me online - I just don't understand how you want me to react to that?

Autumn
Remus Lupin is the autumn. He is crisp air and bright, fire-hued leaves. He is evening bonfires, freshly sharpened pencils, and spiced quince pie. He is autumn.
That’s what Sirius would tell you. Because Remus is back to school now and comes home to their shared flat each afternoon—yes, Sirius lives with an angel, can you believe it!?—looking all brilliant and professor-y in his tortoise-shell glasses, trim-fitting white Oxford shirts, and soft gray cardigans. He’s the best teacher in the world and all the kids love him (makes sense=angel). When he walks through the door, he drops his bag and wraps Sirius into a hug, pressing kisses to his lips and hair and neck. And even though Sirius is already technically home when Remus arrives, he’s not really home until Remus arrives.
They sit cross-legged on the couch with big bowls of squash soup and hunks of crusty bread and talk about their days, and when they’re finished, Remus puts out an arm for Sirius to crawl under. They cuddle up like that for a while, watching Bake-Off and talking about how Paul Hollywood is handsome but terrifying, until Sirius’s hand starts to wander. Then Remus is sighing, and pulling him onto his lap, and kissing him like only someone who’s arrived straight from heaven by way of Wales can do.
Remus would tell you that Sirius is, in fact, the brightest star in the sky, and now that he’s in Sirius’s powerful orbit, he feels brighter, too. Sirius makes everything more fun. He pretends to tap dance in the frozen foods aisle at the supermarket. He stands on the couch and does karaoke wearing only his boxer shorts. He’ll lose entire Saturdays inventing a new scone recipe for the bakery he’s going to open soon and makes a mess of the kitchen in a cloud of flour and sugar. He’s forever booking weekends away. He’s as affectionate and loyal as a puppy, and needs as much attention as one, too, which Remus is only too happy to give.
But Sirius isn’t perfect. When it rains, he mopes until Remus spoons him in their bed. He loses his keys every single day until Remus hangs a little hook for him next to the door. He’s the most forgetful person in the world, so Remus sets calendar reminders and alarms for him to do everything, from taking out the trash, to calling his best friend back, to taking his Ritalin in the morning and his allergy medicine at night. Even now, as they sit on their balcony on a chilly October evening, Sirius has forgotten to put on any warm clothes and is shivering in the night air, so Remus runs inside to fetch him a pair of his own wooly socks and the moss green jumper that Sirius always steals and bundles him into it.
“What would I do without you?” Sirius asks, grabbing Remus’s hand and holding it tight.
Sirius is in love.

ahh so happy now that folks started reblogging it. although i'm not reading whatever you added and add trying to prove you're not a hater who hates on other writers' characterization and is enjoying cyber bullying now, since i'm not arguing with the actual minors who are mentally minors regardless of how old you are<3 (i feel sorry for your kids, if you're even a mother or a father) i hope as many people as possible see the post, and know they've been hurting other fanwriters and normal people just for their own good with remnants of prettyremus' transphobeness.
good-bye!<33

Greedy little biddy, aren't we? (i'm joking, ily please don't leave me)
5. What are your fanfic pet peeves? Do they have a huge effect on whether or not you decide to read something?
Uuuuuuuugh. Okay. I really try not to judge too harshly, I do, but there are a few things I just can't get past.
I'm a huge stickler for grammar and spelling. We all make mistakes, and those are easily overlooked. And if grammar is a bit rough or not up to my standards, I'll still look past it for a really good fic. But SPAG was drilled into my head growing up. It was the be-all, end-all in my household. When it's really rough, I just can't, I'm sorry. It's painful and makes me cringe, physically wince. I'll not hesitate to close out, no matter how good the actual story promises to be, only because I know I won't be able to enjoy it from focusing on things that shouldn't rightfully matter but still do.
Also, super deviating characters. If they're too OOC, I'm out. Let's take Sirius for example (because he's a big one, and it's becoming more prominent as time passes). We all know his character, how he is, but some writers turn him super effeminate (and we're not talking about a trans Sirius here, that's completely different and i've no problem with that). But it's like people see gay slapped beside his name and think oh, let's make him whiny and prissy and super soft and shrill and basically turn him into a toddler who can't do anything for himself. I hate it. That is not Sirius. Or they make him overly-dramatic. And don't get me wrong, I enjoy a small dab of dramatic Sirius here and there. It's fun to read at times, and I'll sometimes add it to my own stuff. But it's slight, and I think that when he is dramatic, it's for a purpose, and he only does it when he actively wants to, makes that decision to play that part, not just because that's how he is.
If it doesn't serve a specific purpose to your storyline, and you're just massively changing a character's personality because you choose to view them that way, that's fine, you do you. Again, do what makes you happy, write for yourself, not for others. But I won't read it. Sorry.

i’m so sick of some wolfstar writers accusing other writers of what they write and calling them stupid like do you think you’re superior to any other writers? maybe do you live in europe or the us?
for example, what if other authors give remus werewolf powers or write him strong and possessive? it’s their own right and freedom to write him that way and none of your shit to openly accuse of and shame on. it gets weird and very funny especially when you write sirius super strong and possessive. why can sirius be strong and possessive and can’t remus be strong and possessive? canon? canonically sirius black wilted like a damsel in distress and died weak. and wasn’t remus canonically married to a woman in dear canon but still you write him to be gay?

do you know who judges what is 'ooc' and what is in-character? only jkr can do. because she's canon and the characters.
it's disgusting when people who make remus 'ooc' and 'effeminate' and 'soft' and basically a 'toddler' who always enjoys some self-pity party in fics, try to make sirius 'a big one' on purpose just because you want other people not to do what you don't like after your rant, and try to make all the drama in fandoms just because your life is so boring and you want to seem woke so act like gay men being effeminate is some twisted and shameful thing, really, should you really have to be homophobic in 2022. what is 'ooc' when you're making remus lupin and sirius black gay when canonically they are straight (well, at least remus lupin, because his first love was a woman and he got married to her). do you even realize that canonically, shockingly, wolfstar is ooc from the beginning? that they were just good friends? that's why fandoms fucked canon. or, did you? fucked the bigoted, transphobic, homophobic, racist canon? then there's no 'ooc'. since you've been writing 'fanfics' all this time unless you're the terf jkr.
you get hurt when someone shames your characterization of the characters. then again, you're exactly doing it, even after so many writers in the fandom have said that they got hurt when prettyremus and his gang bullied other writers for daring to write sirius how they want. please don't be another bully alongside your friends who believe writing sirius however others want is wrong. there's nothing wrong with sirius being feminine or overdramatic or super soft or a baby. stop spreading negative energy when everyone has come here for pure fun.

“sirius is tall because he was described as tall in the books”
oh yeah? and remadora is canon, because the dear bible books’ author wrote remus and tonks loved each other and tonks is remus’ first love literally.
some wolfstar shippers are weird. so obsessed with wolfstar’s heights like their sole goal in the fandom is to spread ‘sirius is tall’ agenda. how pitiful, worshipping jkr’s “canon”.

remus lupin is a complete dick and frequently selfish and self-isolating to the point of being cowardly but he’s also deeply quietly traumatised in a compounding way that he’s never had the chance to deal with and these things interact with each other to make him the complex character he is so he should be written as such instead of a self-insert socially awkward innocent naive sweetheart in this essay I will
